    I don't usually get sick so I don't know what id do when I get sick but I think that's because my parents didn't raise me in a sterile environment "bubble". You guys should do a video on the effect of being raised in different environments and its effect on your immune system. Well thanks for reading this if you do great video :D

    • @Zoe_K
      @Zoe_K Před 9 lety +17

      i was raised like that too and i'm basically never ill! but my dad was raised in a very "clean" one and he's never ill either so i'm pretty sure it's also genetics and not just environment, cuz my mum and brother are sick at least twice a year.

    • @seanr8643
      @seanr8643 Před 9 lety +4

      Surely it's got something to do with your current social/working environment, you could have a 'clean' upbringing that resulted in you being in a germ 'bubble' but if your out a lot socially or work in an environment with a lot of people I.e an office - sooner or later you will catch something of someone .... Unless your superman.

      Sean Raynard i'm a student so i interact with a lot of people all the time, i'm constantly opening doors, touching stair railings, so i probably come into contact with a LOT of germs, and i have very questionable hand-washing-frequencies (whoops). whereas my friend has a super clean house and uses hand sanitiser every hour, and she's ill at least every other month. i say it's just genetics and i'm just very lucky. :)

To the point where my head is throbbing with a thought destroying migraine, and a sore throat bad enough to ruin my appetite. I usually just go about my business as I normally would though. Making sure to wash my hands and use hand sanitizer whenever possible. I also don't take any drugs to alleviate my symptoms. I always drink a lot of tea and coffee but I cut back on my coffee intake as much as possible whenever I get sick and try to drink more green tea and eat more foods that are rich in vitamins.

    Myth - colds are a winter thing... truth? the cold virus can only survive a fairly short time outside the warmth of the host, so in warmer weather it can survive longer and therefore stands a better chance of infecting a new host, so colds are just as prevalent in the summer, if not more common. Thoughts?

      Draw a small circle anywhere on your body. The virus cells will get curious and check it out, and get trapped inside the ring. All you have to do then is to wait for the while blood cells to come eat them up. Make sure to wipe it off so the white blood cells are freed, otherwise they clump up and die, forming a cyste.
      (seriously, just drink lots of fluids and chill out, really isn't much else to do)

    I'm actually sick right now. Anyway when i am sick, I drink A LOT of tea and in the early stages of the cold, or whatever I have, I go for a run. I have heard that you can "sweat out" the germs and you can feel better faster. I swear to this. It always works for me. This time I wasn't able to because of the weather outside but I almost always do.

    i’m sick more often than not and what i do to combat that is
    •eat foods with chicken broth. i’m vegetarian but chicken broth has really heathy fats and vitamins that you need when you’re sick
    •drink ginger ale. ginger has muscle relaxing and stomach soothing qualities. ginger ale is mostly water and sugar which are both good when you’re sick (to hydrate and add calories)
    •eat vanilla ice cream. the brand i buy is just cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla so there’s nothing in it thats bad for you.
    •the rest of what i eat/drink when i’m sick is fruit, water, and protein shakes. i really can’t stomach much else but this is basically the stuff i find helps me feel better the quickest

    Whenever I have a fever, which usually ends up with me getting medical attention because my temperature reaches 40°C or 104°F which is dangerous. So usually I take medication to stop chills (the chills are actually because your core temperature is higher so your vital organs are protected better.) at night and then in the middle of the night I wake up really sweaty and end up sweating the fever out.

    I was taught to not have dairy (not because of mucus) or Sugar because both would feed the cold. With the exception of if you were puking then you were allowed to drink a cup of hot Jello (just pour a little of the pack into a mug of hot water) so it would coat your throat and help protect it from the acid in your stomach.

    I didn't know that the one about being most contagious before you show symptoms was false. I originally heard it from my mom, who is a nurse, so I assumed she knew what she was talking about.
    I usually rest and read/watch TV/play games and drink lots of water. If I'm throwing up, I'll drink pop so I can have some calories and electrolytes that probably won't set off my stomach, as well as eat whatever mild food I can keep down. I also limit myself to one blanket to avoid driving my fever up. With colds, I usually just go about my business as much as possible. I only take medicine if I'm miserable or my fever gets high (101 or higher), or before bed so I can sleep, so that I can just fight it off and be done with it.

    What helps pretty good against a cold , especially against the coughing is "drinking" Onion juice. You need a mug or something, cut an onion into it and add some rock sugar. Then cover it with ceran wrap and on the next day or after a few hours you can pour yourself a spoon of the juice.

      This kinda goes along with my theory that colds are brought on by stress. When I feel like a cold is coming on I ask myself what I'm stressed about and then try to eliminate all stressful thoughts. The same can be accomplished through sleep because in sleep we relax both mind and body. I haven't had a full blown cold in a number of years so this method seems to be working, at least for me.

    My entire childhood I was told "DON'T COUGH/SNEEZE INTO YOUR HANDS!! DON'T COUGH OR SNEEZE INTO YOUR HANDS!!" If any of the children ever did and a teacher (or any other adult) saw, they would be horrified and tell all the children again and again that you have to sneeze into your elbow. Whenever I see anyone cough/sneeze into their hands I get so confused. Maybe it's just different in different countries...

Chop three to five sprigs of green onion and add to cup. Then drape a scarf or towel over your head, hold the cup under your nose and eat with a spoon.

I often lay down on the couch when I feel very sick from the cold or the flu. Sometimes I get a really bad cough and congestion which makes me feel like I have a cold. When I have a cold I don't normally have a fever, just a cough, sore throat, and congestion.
