Great video as always!! Awesome tip with thumb on yoke clamp. I was diving last week in Playa del Carmen and assembled my gear on a moving boat. Yoke was rotating towards valve and pinching off the ability to remove the bungee that was holding the tank in the rack. A great week of diving and my Hog D3 regs and Travel Pro bcd preformed flawless as usual!! Keep up the great work!
Using Apeks turret regulator, we always got the hoses configured so the 1st stage could be put on updaide down, so the turret is on top, to reduce the height when on the tank, avoiding it hitting the back of the head, and protecting the environmental seal.
Thanks OKK, That's the nice thing is that most any Reg can be configured according to the desires of the user. There can be issues based on the design and/or size of the BCD that allows for "FLIPPING" as we call it. Also considerations like Yoke vs DIN. It's your gear, just be safe ! Regards Bob C
Thanks for your question Ash. The reason some instructors teach that is, " if you don't fully open the tank valve", remember my open-open-open-open in the video... If it's not fully open, then you would see the needle dip as you breathe in. If someone is not capable of opening the valve ALL THE WAY, then the extra step of looking at the gauge does not hurt. PS: Please remember, that during the Pre-Dive safety checks, you should be looking at your buddy's gauge and they should be looking at yours while you both breathe off your own Primary 2nds... You would see it then. I stress opening the valve All the way, others stress looking at the gauge. Great comment Ash ! Regards Bob C
Hi Bob have a question on a different subject , LP 80 , HP 80 .AL 80 which one has more air , I always went with the volume was 80 cf . all were equal .......over heard serval divers saying they had more in the HP80 because of the 3442 psi where the LP80 only had 2640 psi
Well NAA, 80 cft of gas, be it at 2640 or 3442 is still 80 cft. Today there are Faber LP85 at 2640 (85cft)and their Steel 80 is 3442, and throwing an Alum 80 in the mix @ 3k all result in very similar results. Not sure what level divers those were, but maybe they need to do some physics review. Thanks for the comment. Bob C
Kitty, I certainly can't disagree with your "take a refresher course" comment. Sadly, I constantly see where folks that just completed there OW course have a month later have forgotten how to assemble/disassemble their gear. I shot this video as a freebie echo to anyone that wishes to have a little reminder. In most cases Advanced or higher level divers have handled their gear enough times not to need to watch this. prolly take a refresher course if ur not sure how to put ur gear together to make sure u haven't forgotten any crucial skills
