To be fair to Meltzer, WWE did some "wrestling-booking sense" themselves trying to shoehorn the Rock in Cody's wrestlemania spot just a few weeks ago, trying to make money instead of making sense. But that didn't work either, so he's still wrong.

I don't know that Alvarez was ever "drinking the Kool Aid"; it was just part of the act Bryan was performing on-air. He'd tailor his character to get the best "engagement" with whoever he was working with. The only tripping point was that Dave would eventually say something so moronic or frustrating that Bryan would feel forced to call it out. That's been going on for years, whether it was Bryan calling out Dave defending WWE or AEW.

The moment Meltzer delivered the line "wrestling is all about making money" was the moment Meltzer destroyed whatever credibility he had left. I'm not disagreeing with that statement. What I mean is that he is basically doing a self own by making that statement.
Wrestling is all about making money, and Tony Khan is all about pissing away his family inheritance by signing WAY too many performers that don't move the needle at multi-million-dollar contracts (Adams Copeland/Cole/Page, Mercedes, Saraya, Osprey, Ibushi, Rainmaker, etc. etc. ETC.)
Of course it's a self-own....this is the dude who basically become a legend among smart marks for consistently shitting on the WWF(E) product during it's '80s heyday when it was making a boatload of money.

The same Tony Khan that lost his mind that Jinder Mahal got a title shot out of the blue, but then gives Okada a title shot and title win in his FIRST singles match with the company as a regular member of the roster.
That’s kind of different. Jinder was off tv for over a year and has been a jobber for most of his career, while Okada had been wrestlings Final Boss for about 5 years.
The key things was that nobody cared about Jinder and he wasn’t relevant, while Okada is always in the spotlight and is a favorite among wrestling fans, eapecially the ones that watch japanese wrestling.

Jinder whether you care about him or not is a former WWE World Champion and worked for WWE at the time. He at least can say he is a former champ and he actually worked there.

When aew folds and the observer starts to go down with it, I bet any money tony buys it so he can still he friends with dave and remain connected, or dave somehow convinces tony he's going to retire because it's to much to keep it going and being a basement dweller tony can't see it die and buys it and does an announcement that it's under the AEW umbrella and will be presented like a sports journal for five whole days.

Just wanted to give you a quick update that Uncle Dave is even more wrong now since the Bucks won the championship. Meanwhile I haven't seen Claudio or Moxley on Dynamite as tag team since then and so that still makes me wonder why FTR lost in the first place.

I can imagine losing sanity trying to argue perspective with Dave.
People who think Alvarez is as delussional as Meltzer probably don't listen to his shows, he's generally sympathetic towards AEW for sure but he's also been openly critical of a lot of things about it for a long time now
Alvarez is either in the midst of a babyface turn or him and Dave have started a new "good cop, bad cop" gimmick.
I've noticed lately that a lot of high profile AEW defenders (Dave, Conrad Thompson) now use the argument that when something is illogical, "I'm sure it'll get explained later and make sense." Which is perfect for them because by the time it isn't explained and doesn't make sense, people forget and have moved onto the next illogical thing.
But Dave and others have also doubled down with whataboutisms of "well this was done in the past, so why are you complaining now." Put aside whether Dave is right or wrong about it being done in the past - who the fuck cares if it was done in the past, it's doesn't make it less stupid now. And Dave would have been the first guy to complain about this sort of stuff in the 80s and 90s.
Anyway, I look forward to Bryan's full face turn and cutting a promo on Dave about interrupting him and not understanding sarcasm for all the years they were on the radio/podcasts. Tony Khan & Dave vs. Bryan & Vinnie is a money feud waiting to happen.

I've been a lifelong wrestling fan and can honestly say every time I've heard Meltzers opinion or voice its been entirely against my will.
