    That ball bearing attachment for bow drilling is an Awesome addition. You mostly see that sort built into the handle of your knife. Placing it on the sheath is an interesting idea.

    I just got the Maxam 12 piece survival knife and I’m looking to modify mine. So happy to see someone has done it already, will help me figure out what I want to do with mine. Thanks for the tip. Great video!

    This video was 3yrs ago is there an update of this video. There are some great ideas here. Especially the fidget spinner bearing. Like you already pointed out the knife is hollow and in the survival community it’s a no no. Also take a look at the macpedition cocoon pouch.

      Might do if I get some free time. Had a look at all my knifes and that one is still a good knife that’s over looked

    Pretty complete set, Joe.. A lot more stuff than i have hanging on my mora. Funny how people who probably don't even have a knife think that they are experts. If you use common sense, I don't think you will break your knife. I think people watch too many movies. There is always a limit to how much you can pack with your knife, and I think you did a pretty good job. Thank you for the video

    • @prepperinthewoods
      @prepperinthewoods  Před 7 lety

      +shovelhead8 I agree and also think people watch too many knife test videos where people abuse the knife in ways it's not supposed to and then break it and then say it's a crap knife. I think extreme tip test is a good example. Thanks for watching.

    Hi, what a transformation, great work mate , youve obviously put some thought in, and taken on comments, you stated from the beginning of your project it was for " you" ,
    I don't own a hollow handled knife, BUT, my next treat, will be one, only thing I'd add or suggest, if I may, a Mylar type sheet, some how, maybe wrapped on wi, para cord etc, giving you emergency shelter?
    Brilliant little kit, ATB.

      @prepperinthewoods  Před 7 lety +1

      +1 2 yeah prepper Del did some videos with mora with emergency blankets wrapped with paracord but I think it would be too big for what's already on it. Thanks for watching.

    Great video cool idea but your first mistake was having a knife with a hollow handle and your second mistake was adding too much stuff to your sheath it weighs too much and is too bulky for field use use something like a Gerber strongarm and build off that once again great job.

    • @prepperinthewoods
      @prepperinthewoods  Před 5 lety

      The Gerber is my bug out knife. That’s a great knife. This was to keep up with some of the survival kits out there and challenges for how much stuff can you get in one space. I prefer a good knife and a survival case separated. I did a recent vid on a survival case of your interested

    • @spyder8602
      @spyder8602 Před 5 lety +1

      .... and ur mistake is telling this man that he added too much stuff to his sheath.....he can hang his sleeping bag off it if he wants to... how do u even know the weight first?? And second, what is "too bulky"?? Maybe he wants to know there's something on his hip, that's his preference, but don't try to correct something that isn't wrong, but merely a preference.... and it's past being a "cool idea", ...he turned an idea into something physical...take ur Gerber and throw it in a fuckin pond cuz it ain't much better than what he showed off!.... and u sir can build off of that

    Say Heah Again, one of my Fav's Survival Knives is my Modified Rodent 6, which I had thinned down and the top guard taken off at the Busse Custom Shop. It came out Awesome. I carry it in my Spec-Ops Sheath, it has a pouch on it so I have my ecentials in it. But mostly I carry my Gerber Multi Tool in it. But I can also put my Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter, usually I carry a Survival Pouch on person on my Survival Belt.,,. p

      Paul'ie 4X yeah I think a good add on besides a fire kit is s multi tool. Thanks for watching.

    Say Heah, I have (2) Knives that have awesome Survival Pouches that can attach to the sheath. I'm sure Fox has more knives with this survival kit, but I only have two knives with it. It's a large pouch with a tin that has alot of Survival gear in it, but the time snap locks on both sides with a lid. The nice thing is that you can cook in the tin. I have them on my Fox Parang Bushcraft Jungle Knife which I permimently attached my Mora Kansbol to the side of the Survival Pouch. The other knife is my Fox Jungle Parang. Both are very similar with suttle Differences, I like them that much that I didn't mind having two. You did good, Thanx You.,,. p

      Prepper in the Woods I think that's awesome, Self Made is the best way to go. But in my case I simply don't have the equipment and I don't want to. I'm very happy buying what I have. All I wanted to do is make your viewers aware of the products I mentioned. You did good.,,. p

      +alisha rivera yeah can do. It's a good idea. I can do loads to this knife really. It's just how much weight I want to add to it. I do want to field test it thou.

    Hollow handle knives are the worst! In a survival situation that could mean game over! Get a quality full tang knife or at least a Mora!

    only missing is tv set ...
    why do you need so much different ways to start fire on SURVIVAL KIT ????
    all you need 2 BIC lighters sealed in plastics so they don't get wet, Ferro rod and 2 cotton balls impregnated with Vaseline,
    You don't need so much different cordage types , all you need , 10-20 ft #6 or #12 bank line it will cover all your cordage needs,
    You don't need so much if trama kit , all you need litle tube if super glue it will seal cuts well and few tablets of pain killers
    You don't need snairwires , chance to catch any small animal with them is very slim, unless you put 10-15 Iif them , you might get 1-2 small animal, but you don't have that much of a wire in your kit.
    Leen haw to make traps and for a bait use peenat butter out of little military style peanut butter package.
    You missing water purification in your kit. REtake toilet paper or napkin cut it in squares , put one drop of Clorox on each square , dry them , and seal them in plastic so they don't get wet, than when you need it put one square in container and share well , let it stand for 20 minutes and water is safe to drink.
    This kit of yours + weight of knife and sheath is very havy to carrying in on your hip,
    Instead of attaching it all to your knife sheath, get a little pouch and put it all in it, and carrying it on your knife belt on opposite side , it will acting as counterweight to your knife.., and in this pouch you might add , space blanket, couple of sucking candy for instant energy , May be few cubes of concentrated bullion.
    Think about it , if you get loosed in woods , your first priority is fire, shelter , water, food.
    People never get lost at mourning time, it's all ways late afternoon when Sun go down. So in most cases you have less than an hour to build fire and shelter from scratch , because if you fail highpotormi going to get you at night. You can survive without water and food for at list 2-3 days , but against cold you have no such time and chance..
    So from that perspective You should have concept of building your survival sheath.

    A very good and useful kit, that you created here. Do you have ideas for the Anglo Arms G10, which mods are attachable and good for use? I only attached a lanyard at the knife :) Ferro Rod and whistle are on the same place as before. But i thought there must be a way to attach some extra mods :D But i think it won't work

    • @prepperinthewoods
      @prepperinthewoods  Před 7 lety

      +ZalemDJ I'll have to have a look at it and see. Just depends on what you need and how heavy you want it. Just need to think outside the box.
