I had gotten married in 86 and was living overseas. I came home circa 1989, and heard this on KROQ. I cried all the way down the 405, i needed this song.
I didn't live in SoCal but visited family a few times a year. I used to tape music off KROQ and I still have them. I break those cassette tapes out every now and then. Great times!

Even darker bands pre-Grunge like the Cure, Depeche Mode, and the Smiths had this sophistication, elegance and beauty to them. Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn and co. pioneered into this mopey, simplistic, dreary new era. There were a few bright spots in the 90s though, like Red Hot Chili Peppers.

This song still makes me feel kind of anxious and expectant, in a good way. I miss the 80's too. They were the best decade for music and societal evolution.

pagansforbreakfast, no, it's the angsty Grunge kids in the 90s that ruined rock and roll. Even darker bands pre-Grunge like the Cure, Depeche Mode, and the Smiths had this sophistication, elegance and beauty to them. Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn and co. pioneered into this mopey, simplistic, dreary new era. There were a few bright spots in the 90s though, like Red Hot Chili Peppers.
