- Doing some fishing with my good friend John Myers(WWBT Kayak 2021 AOY). We went out knowing it was going to be a tough bite. With changing conditions and fish constantly moving we struggled to put a limit in the boat. At the very end we ended up getting on a quick flurry and catching a few nice.

What gear ratio reel, line and rod you using for your topwater setup?
I'm using an 8 gear, 65lb PowerPro and a Dobyn's Kaden 715c
Is that a dobyns Kaden or champion extreme HP with the slx dc reel? I've been thinking about picking up an slx dc and another dobyns rod. I love using my fury mag heavy and my Sierra M spinning rod on the yak. It's hard for me to pull the trigger on those $300+ rods so I've been eveballing the Kaden series
It's a Kaden. The Kaden rod feels really good, its softer and lighter than the Dobyn's Sierra. Its very similar to the Dobyn's Savvy that was discontinued awhile back. Same with me, I'm fine fishing with these budget rods, they get the job done. If you are looking for a rod that is a bit softer than the Sierra, these are a good buy.
