Thanks. This was just what I needed. Favorite quote: "This surely is the healthy Christian attitude: Willing to stay, for the sake of the work still to be done, but longing to get home."

The gospel is the GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM!
Jesus is going to return and set up the kingdom of God ON THE EARTH! God’s government ON THE EARTH! The Messiah died for his people! God resurrected the Messiah! The Messiah will resurrect his people! The destiny of the Messiah and his people is to be ON THE EARTH! The renewed restored earth! God also dwelling with them! Rev 21
    Matt 24
14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Jesus said the Father is the only true God!
    John 17
3 And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.

Interesting that we continue in knowledge and there's no end to it and it leads us to more joy. Must be a possibility for a new being type in heaven with new and different growing potential other than what the angels are. First we are washed and then we continue to serve God and then we continue . We become a part of God through the Blood of Jesus so that must take away the striving of humanity that dragged us down n we are added to. How many times have we been with someone we love and we wish we could be with more a part of them so I'm thinking love means to be more a part of someone which is limited by the flesh but in the spirit we can be more a part of some personality. They say married couples become more like each other as they grow older. So this becoming more like Jesus is not such a alien concept. I think the excitement of this concept and the passivity disappears when we are faced with it in the spirit . Ahh spreads His tent. We are included which is consistent with the concept of love your neighbor as yourself when the concept of spreading love is a consistent concept of the teachings of Christ. It continues in heaven. so Jesus is not teaching a misguided thought that is to be continued in heaven. Here so much love might be overwhelming and we weep uncontrollably but in heaven in the spirit form we vent it and express it by growing joy. We can make the connection between our relationship with Jesus here as we see dimly and more faith is required. seems like our yearning for new discoveries doesn't end. Amazing how much of our thoughts like vacations and wanting new and enjoyable places we like to discover is something that keeps on in heaven but there is a promise for more there. Again a connection between what we are here and the continuation of what we extend into in heaven so it's not a complete end to who we are . Since there is no time we continue in knowledge and purity and delight in God with joy. WE grow . God invites us to become more with him. It's not just an existence that 'ok we made and we sit around in flowery meadows." so what we do in heaven and how we spend our time there is answered. only there is no time so no stress to accomplish these tasks. It will be something we take joy in doing and we never grow tired. Think I'll listen to this on my deathbed.

Is there a sermon given by Colin Smith on the first 8 verses of this chapter? What about the 144,000? Who are they? Why are they only from the 12 tribes of Israel? Why does it almost seem like they are the only ones who are chosen? Yet, Jesus died for all people? And I do see in this sermon that it is a message for all of us who do believe, but the first 8 verses are confusing. I am just curious!

Great questions! He did not preach on the first eight verses of Romans 7.
