Hello, I am TheTimTracker. Welcome to my crazy beard and mustache driven life! Someday this channel is going to be known for videos like this one. These videos actually show Disney World through the years and its great to just go back in time and actually rewatch how different these theme parks use to be.

Fun Fact for you Tim, the scene with Sorcerer Mickey in the Great Movie Ride was originally supposed to be the tornado that took you to Oz which is why it's a circular room with clouds and tons on wind.

The Indy show is just as I remember it from my trip over 20 years ago.....and every ABC sitcom in the early 90s when the lead guy or boyfriend got picked to play Indy
seeing as Disney is taking down every historic ride and every historic icon, I have a feeling they will get rid of the Great Movie Ride soon

randomemogirl96 They are updating the Great Movie Ride this year! At least some of the screens. The Hat isn't really historic in my eyes, because it wasn't there when it first opened. It was a much nicer shot with the Great Movie Ride at the end of the street!

How can Disney take down Mickey's sorcerer hat? I'm sure that was the iconic logo of MGM studios. It's like Epcot taking away Spaceship Earth.
The only way I'll be ok with Disney taking out the Indy show is if they replace it with an Indiana Jones Ride! preferably the Disneyland CA version!
Sadly that doesn't seem likely because of the space unless it is a super short boring ride

So the Sorcerer's Apprentice scene was not originally supposed to be in The Great Movie Ride. That little turn was supposed to be the twister that takes you into OZ. So you may notice the curvature of the building in that corner is like a tornado, and there is a lot of wind there. Well they had smoke too to make it like a twister, but it was spreading into the rest of the ride because of the strong fans. So they got rid of it and plopped that screen in with Mickey.

What are they doing to the hat??? That's literally the symbol of Hollywood Studios.
+Sydney Paddock they took it down almost a year ago and i think the new symbol is Tower of Terror
whoa you take that back! The Original Symbol of MGM and Disney's Hollywood Studios was the Earful tower. That was the Landmark any true disney fan and disney Historian would tell you that.

I miss The Great Movie Ride so much. The animation in Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway is very cool, but there was just something about The Great Movie Ride that made me love and care for it. I've only been to Disney World once, but the line was so short during the time that I was there that I was able to ride it multiple times. Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land look really cool, but I do feel like Hollywood Studios has become way more commercialized than when it originally opened as a park themed on old Hollywood, the magic of film, and the process of how a film is made. The car stunt show that they got rid of is a perfect example of a show about how stunts in films happen while also making it fun to watch. You used to be able to have fun, but also learn something new while at Hollywood Studios. But now, you aren't learning as much. The only 2 parks in Disney World now that you learn a lot of facts (that have nothing to do with Disney) is EPCOT and Animal Kingdom.
Tim & Jenn - been watching your videos for a bit and YT recommended some old ones - loved watching this one in particular... we are back in 30ish days and can't wait - we usually watch a disney vlog almost every night right before dinner or bed (or both). Hard to leave comments since we are watching on the TV. Love the videos!

I had auto-play on and this popped up after a recent vlog. I was surprised to see that the host of the Indy show was Mark Daniel, who now hosts the Disney Parks Blog events and Star Wars Celebration stuff.
Because of this video, I've been singing the Indiana Jones theme all day! Not complaining.... obviously!
ONE OF THE DIRECTOR GUYS AT INDIANA JONES IS THE HOST FOR THE DISNEY PARKS LIVESTREAMS NOW!!!! At least I think he is lol.

Awesome that Jenn was an extra on IJSS! I got to do it on my birthday weekend back in 2011. And we went once where they didn't do the plane scene, bummer when that doesn't happen. Love that tank prop at the exit, I have a pic of my younger daughter in front of it from a 2008 trip and again from a 2012 trip. I will miss the hat but it will be nice to see the theater!
I’m SO sad that the hat is gone, my son loooooves Sorcerer Mickey and that was one of his favorite places to take pics in front of on our last visit (which was also our first visit)!

Great as always you two. That's awesome that Jenn got picked to be in the show. A friend of ours was picked for it when we went way back in 1991, or so I am told because I was 6 and don't really remember.

You were a great extra Jenn! My dad did it when we went in 2004! I'm pretty certain there was an extra plane scene at the end of the show though, but that was 11 years ago!

I love the Great Movie Ride! My favorite part is Alien, and while watching this video it suddenly clicked in my head that the noise in the Nostromo when you first enter is a meow coming from Ripley's cat, which she is trying to find in that segment of the film! If you guys haven't seen the original Alien from 1979 yet, you definitely should! Oh and TCM is indeed changing the end video :)

Daniel Copestick The hat was only supposed to be temporary for the 100 years of magic celebration in 2001. The ball at Epcot had a hand and magic wand that got taken down at the end of the year in 2001. The Hat was just getting a lot of attention so they left it up for a while.

I always hated the hat. I really don't know why, I just didn't like it. It seemed like it was out of place to me, in the way almost. I'm sad they took it down for people who loved it, though. If you loved it, I'm betting it was hard to part with such an important memory of the park.
