  • Demo of Ivan Bonev bench made Stainer inspired violin.
Ivan, a native of Yambol, Bulgaria resides in Arlington, Texas since 1998. Originally studies Physics in Bulgaria, he worked in woodworking and woodcarving upon coming to the United States. He found a new passion in 2009 when his son started playing the violin and he has been creating instruments ever since. So far he has made over 70 violins, 1 cello, and 10 violas. He's even taken a new direction and began making guitars and ukuleles in 2020.
Most of the violins are made in the Italian or German tradition following designs from Guarneri, Dalla Costa, Rogeri, and Stainer although he has developed several personal models over the years, once special model named after his dear wife.
He enjoys making unique and non-traditional instruments with inlays, carvings, and figurine scrolls. He at times breaks from traditional methods at times to create even more desirable sounds with arching, graduations, and bracing systems, much like Stradivarius himself and many other masters. His pursuit of perfection and constant quest to deliver the best sound to the players is fueled by his background and passion for the craft. I believe his works stands (or sounds) for itself. Thank you for your time, and play on my friends!
