As per ISO 9001: 2015 and IATF 16949: 2016, there is a key difference between Audit and Inspection. Once we are clear about this difference, we can also understand the difference between, Process audit, product audit and layout inspection
We interchangeably use many words without realizing the fact that each word has its own meaning and significance. Audit and Inspection are two such words which we often use as same without comprehending that each of them has a distinct meaning and purpose. To put in a summary, Audit is about ‘Past’ and Inspection is about ‘Present!’

Thanks for your query. Try to understand the difference between Audit and Inspection. Once it is clear, you can easily understand the terminology used in the industry like layout inspection, product audit, process audit, system audit, in process inspection, final inspection or incoming inspection
