- Known as ドラえもん2 のび太と光の神殿 in Japan. It's the second Doraemon game of the challenge. Will we have struggles dealing with Japanese text that I can't hope to understand but really need to be able to? Or will we get through this one smoothly?

I'm learning Japanese and I'm pleased I can actually frikin read whats happening for once in these Japanese releases, because it's written in all hiragana, which is common for reading meant for children.
I feel like this challenge has to be very draining sometimes, especially when it's less enjoyable games like this. We are rooting for you though!
If you want to feel bad for him, wait until the horse game, because hooooly

6:53 so for anyone who doesn't know what Doraemon is and may be interested (it's kind of weird to think people don't know what Doraemon is since here in Spain it's a show that's always on in one form or another); Doraemon is a TV show about a future robot cat (Doraemon) that gets send back in time to help Nobita, a kid from the present get a better life. I don't remember if it was his future self or someone else who send it to the past but the idea is that they want to prevent him staying the terrible loser he is. To help Nobita out, Doraemon has an interdimensional pocket from which he can take future inventions from. The show (for the most part) follows a very basic structure, an episode will begin with Nobita having some sort of day to day problem, he asks Doraemon for help, Doraemon gives him a future invention that does whatever Nobita needs in that episode and Nobita, being the idiot he is, does something wrong with it by either abusing it's power or letting Suneo and Giant (who sometimes are his friends and sometimes are his bullies) take the invention for themselves. In the end Doraemon intervenes and solves the issue himself.
The movies usually have more complicated plots like this game has. But that's kind of the basic premise of the show. This has been in publication and on air since line the 80's or something and it's a very famous show in many countries.

Man I am so hype for Hybrid Heaven. It was my favorite game as a kid for a long while, I can't wait until it's drawn. I got so excited that brief minute it was in the lead.

Im surprised nobody has made a program thats just google translate but it lets you designate an area on the screen to try to translate whenever it sees the language you want translated.
There is already a camera icon on google translate, you can tap on it and translate the language on the screen or on a paper.
@@keefteezak6739 I know, but if his computer just had a program to do it, he could designate where the text boxes are on the screen and have it translate whenever it sees the text instead of having to whip out his phone and play with it for every bit of text.
It could even have a history of every translation done so he can just have a txt file of it all
It would help cut down on the amount of time you have to futz with your phone
@@IdealIdeas100 there is a program of sorts like that, designed for gamers. But Beast has expressed that he doesn't like how it interferes with the look of the gaming experience. which makes sense given how he's archiving the full playthroughs of some pretty obscure games. Also, google translate, which is what the program uses, isn't the best machine translation option with Japanese or Japanese gaming vocab. Those of us in live chat do try to help supplement the translation app he uses. Also the translated manuals help a lot.

People really don’t understand how famous doraemon is in east Asia. Virtually everyone there knows who he is, so it does feel surreal when someone has to explain who doraemon is.
For comparison, Doraemon's popularity and the amount of mindshare he occupies is, outside of the West, on roughly the same level as Mickey Mouse and not as far from Hello Kitty as you'd think.

I gotta admit, when it was first introduced, I didn't like the marble challenge game picking mode very much. But over time and with that ongoing streak of bad to mediocre games, it's now sometimes the thing I'm looking most forward to, lol.
Ohhhh yeah I can't wait for Tetrisphere. Great game. Mum had to abandon screen time limits when we busted her playing it at 2am! She'd been going for at least 4hours😂

Tetrisphere! I LOVED it as a teenager when it came out. What a great game.
It's interesting the little ways this is clearly targeted toward young kids.
Almost all of the text boxes are in kana rather than Kanji, apart from a few common characters. And then the days of the week are illustrated elements rather than characters.
月曜日 = moon day = Monday
火曜日 = fire day = Tuesday
水曜日 = water day = Wednesday
木曜日 = wood day = Thursday
金曜日 = gold day = Friday
土曜日 = earth day = Saturday
日曜日 = sun day = Sunday
So your display with the symbols shows Sunday, Wednesday, and Tuesday with Thursday on the game screen in the background, but it's a magical world, so they're playing with the elemental meanings of the names.
Upon viewing further... the gray rock might be 金 interpreted as metal generally rather than gold specifically, but I don't know what they're getting at with the tornado, because there isn't a 風曜日 "wind day"
Edit: or the yellow-ish rock is gold ore (Friday) and the gray rock is generic earth (Saturday)? Whatever, the wind remains inexplicable

Yeahhh Tetrisphere is next! Used to love that game as a kid and can't believe there hasn't been more of those type of spin-offs from it, it's such an interesting way to play Tetris and the soundtrack is awesome too!

YES! Tetrisphere is one of my all time favorite games! It was super addictive with great music. But I understand why some people didn’t like it.
Oddly good timing considering they just released a new Doraemon game on Switch days before this video. It's impressive just how many different kinds of game they can make with Doraemon. It's a testament to the broad appeal of the franchise, I feel.
The anime has been ongoing for 45 years (although they had a reboot back in 05)

Tetrisphere is just as much a Tetris game as Tetris Attack on the SNES is. IE in name only. I heard it's fun though.
