My daughter preformed this song at a talent show. She dressed like Cinderella and her backup singers dressed like the other Disney princesses. They got in trouble for dropping the F bomb but I couldn't have been more impressed with them ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
You should listen more closely to the toxic lyrics all throughout the song. You shouldn't be encouraging your daughter to sing it. Animation fan here! All the princesses are already strong, with or without men. Here’s all the brave, independent, and selfless things things they’ve done:
Snow White: At FOURTEEN (look it up) an assassin was sent after her, despite being terrified alone in the woods she didn’t give up and cleaned an entire house just for the CHANCE of being able to stay there and helped around the house even when they agreed to. The prince was not thirty despite the rumor and I’m guessing they would’ve already known each other, making that kiss a goodbye kiss of sorts. When she came back to life he took her home with him so she would have a safe place to stay with no risk of being killed again.
Cinderella: Lost both her parents and was physically and mentally abused for years but kept a positive attitude and in the end got to leave her abusive home and stay with a man she loved.
Aurora/Sleeping Beauty: Ok she’s the only one who didn’t do much but to be fair she wasn’t really the main character and it focused more on the fairies. Still the prince saved her life and most likely knew about the “true loves kiss” thing so it’s not like he kissed her for no reason, and I feel like if I was her I’d be pretty grateful for not having to sleep for 1,000 years and not being burned to a crisp by a dragon but idk that’s just me.
Bell: Sacrificed her own freedom to save her father and despite her better judgment treated the beast with nothing but kindness and compassion and was willing to get with him even with his monstrous appearance.
Mulan: LITERALLY SAVED ALL OF CHINA
Jasmine: Stood her ground and didn’t let herself marry someone she didn’t love and married the man she loved despite the class differences. Oh and tamed a literal tiger.
Mulan: A literal war hero who took her disabled father’s place and ended up saving all of China. She was even bowed to by the entire kingdom including the emperor.
Ariel: Despite her father’s hostility and hate for the main land she took it upon herself to learn more about it. After her father destroys her human stuff and expresses his disapproval about the man she loves she sacrifices her voice so she can live on land like she’s always wanted to.
Tiana: Works hard to buy a building to run her business in and even when that dream is destroyed she hold her head up high and decides to keep working at it, with or without her dream building. In the end she marry’s a man who’s willing to support her dream and runs the restaurant she’s always wanted.
Rapunzel: She had a very sheltered upbringing and when Eugene breaks into the tower she makes a deal for him to help her escape. She lives the life she’s always dreamed of and when she’s captured again Eugene sacrifice himself so she can live the life she’s always wanted. In the end she gets to be with the man she loves and be reunited with her family.
I think that’s all the princesses she mentioned + others that are often seen as nothing but “damsels in distress”. Disney princess are a lot stronger than we give them credit for.

They *CHOOSE* to love each other. Tiana never wanted a biomedical degree, and shes never outwardly cruel or sadistic to prince naveen either. She's confrontational but not murderous. A culinary degree would've made more sense
E: Last but not least; Bell. Bell is shown to be a smart, almost Saintly woman. She has enough self respect to not instantly fall for someone - her and beasts relationship is literally the entire message of "don't judge a book by its cover" she loves beast for beast and again, doesn't need him. And to even further point this out she actively dislikes Gaston, who is seen by the towns women as a hunk and an absolute catch.
I think the idea of this song being "girls are powerful and dont need men we can do anything" is great, but when its done right. Instead of critiquing the princesses we could instead critique the stereotypes and behavior they perpetuate, like the song "Mad at Disney" does. THATS A MUCH BETTER CRITIQUE OF DISNEY.

5. Ariel: Her issue wasnt confidence. Its was youthful ignorance and curiousity. She got curious about the land and traded her voice for it. She was already upset at her father so she just decided to dip. Not a confidence thing, just teenage rebelion and curiousity.
6. Mulan: She loved her family and was willing to risk her life for the life of her father. Nothing wrong with that. She eventually falls for the generals son which again, nothing wrong with that. She went to war out of love for her father and ended up leaving the war with the man of her dreams that accepted her as she was without all the high society "girl must be this way" stuff from the start of the movie.
7. Jasmine: Also loved her father but refused to be married to just any random guy for the sake of royalty. Hence she finds a random dude who doesnt want her for wealth but for HER. The genie coulda made this man Aladin have all the money in thr world. It wasnt a matter of wealth or status. He loved her and she found someone who loved her for herself and somekne who had good intentions.
8 Cinderella she was abused by her step mother and 2 step sister's she was so kind and smart she went through a lot and she wanted to experience the royalty wanted to dress and dance with the prince then she fell in love so what's wrong with that she never said she needs some prince to help her she deserves to be a princess and live in mansion with her prince.

To Jax, being an entrepreneur isn't good enough when it involves cooking, so that has to be thrown out and replaced with a STEM profession.

@@lennardchurch8483 the worst part is that this won't appeal to either side. I'm much more left leaning and believe in equal rights for all but this song sucks at portraying that. I especially hate the "Jasmin made out with Mulan" line because it makes it turns them into a stereotype that makes it feel like the only thing they can do in their story is be gay. Also it's just bad from a feminism perspective. Feminism shouldn't vilify men because feminism at its heart is just saying that women are equal to men, not better, not worse. This song is an absolute borderline misandrist mess.

Every male character mentioned in the song was re-written to turn him into a creep, doing things the character in the classic Disney movies never would have. That is Misandrist, and the song uses those re-writes to justify female bad behavior in the name of "empowerment".
Here's a breakdown of what's wrong with the song, why, it's a false-empowerment that only succeeds in producing animosity between people.
"I don't need no prince to save me." Strong people don't have to go around saying how strong they are. These sorts of assertions typically showcase a person who doesn't appreciate all of the conveniences that she enjoys because of the work that men do.
"I'm a g** d** CEO." I'm fairly certain no one who's ever screamed that actually attained or retained the position of CEO. It's like Joffrey's petulant "I'm the King" in GoT, after which his Grandfather scolded him that a man who has to say that he's the king, is no true king. It's a power fantasy held by someone who doesn't deserve that status.
"Don't call me baby, Equal pay me". The concept of the wage gap has been debunked repeatedly. Personal decisions made by men and women differ, and are the reason for disparity between earnings. They're not being paid different amounts for the same work, they're earning different amounts of money based on what jobs they're willing to work, whether they're willing to travel for work, and how much time they're willing to dedicate to their work. Most women put more value on their lives outside of work, and don't make the decisions as often that lead to raises or promotions, while men are far more likely to place higher value on their work, putting more time and effort into making the decisions that result in raises and promotions, because there's societal pressure on them to be providers.
"Snow White said you tried to kiss her." False accusations... Snow White had a different prince, but leave it to Feminists to not be able to tell men apart.
"So I'll buy a new glass slipper" ... Someone forgot that Cinderella didn't buy the first glass slipper. She was in perpetual servitude to an evil WOMAN, and the Prince is a MAN who saved her.
"and burn your castle down." ... They just can't feel powerful without destroying other people's things. Also, they're talking about 1st degree Arson against the seat of political power in your locality. They can try, but all they'll get for their effort is an orange jump suit with a number on it that matches all of their new neighbors.
Now on to the actual heroines, and how this song devalued their autonomy and decisions. The only one of them who actually would have any reason to behave in the way you described is the original version of Sleeping Beauty, for elements which were not in the Disney version.
Cinderella...The prince fell for her at a glance, after which all other women ceased to exist for him. He was never going have an affair with one of her vicious step sisters. Also, he's the lord, she's his consort. Under the law, if the one with the political power is unfaithful in marriage, that's not treason, so the idea that even if he were unfaithful, that Cinderella would have any legal ground to stand on to threaten him is laughable. And if you want to really look at historical context, both the men and the women in nobility were notorious for their extramarital affairs, and it was accepted so long as the participants weren't so reckless as to leave proof.
Rapunzel... Her hair was the instrument of her freedom, and in the original story it was sheared off and taken from her by the evil woman who trapped her in the tower to begin with.
Jasmine... She restructured how the social stratum of her entire kingdom interacted with each other when she as the princess decided to marry a common urchin and thief... a man. (It's demeaning to her accomplishments to reduce her to a lesbian make-out session)
Mulan ... She shirked the rules of a very strict society to fight and ultimately win a war that saved China, and ultimately married her love, a man. (It's demeaning to her accomplishments to reduce her to a lesbian make-out session)
Ariel ... didn't lack confidence, she was in love the the idea of the world above the waves, and she fell for a human man, and she accepted a deal that gave her legs as a means of helping her attain both of her deepest desires.
Tiana ... her greatest aspiration is to own and run her own restaurant, and there's nothing wrong with that. Nothing about her character suggests she'd ever have any interest in dissecting frogs or going into medicine.
Belle ... She's a smart woman who fell for who the Beast was as a person after getting through all of his rough layers. She never exhibited any interest in physical prowess, particularly sports which she objectively does not have the bone structure to excel in.
