An efficient paddle, this Accent "Energy"! On one day, I used an all-carbon touring paddle; on the next, I used the carbon-shaft Accent "Energy," just like the one in Mr. D's video. Over the same eight- mile tour, the "Energy" shaved half an hour off the time: lots of power, no strain on the muscles: a great innovation.

I have the Pro Core Fit version, which is a high angle carbon fiber paddle with the same grip system but the blade is Carbon Fiber wrapped foam. It is an amazing paddle, i instantly preferred it to my Aquabound.

The 1101 Experiment Yes it’s a good one. The mfg sent it to me so I could review it and I was impressed.

The immovable grips are a problem, for sure. But to be fair, you get the same set, immovable angles with bent shaft stuff.
Biggest disappointment though is the blades. They state these are carbon reinforced, but these blades feel cheap and they are much too flexible. You can feel the rigidity that makes a difference in an Aquabound paddle, for instance. If these were carbon reinforced, they should be more rigid.

I just bought this paddle and the rubber grips are too far apart for me. How in the world does one move these?

Shelley A. Leedahl, Hi Shelley, when I first did this review for Accent I had the same question. I was told that these grips are designed for proper hand placement and are not movable. I was told to test them on water I would then understand. It took me a bit but I learned them and really got to like them.

@@DaleMrDSimmons Hello Dale - thank you for the quick response! My understanding is that one's hands should be shoulder width - or just a little wider - apart on the paddle. I'm a medium-sized woman, and find these grips would place my hands much further apart than that. In short, I foresee difficult paddling, and perhaps some unecessary back strain. I will have to consider whether or not I will return these. Again, your response is much appreciated! - Shelley, Vancouver Island, Canada

Shelley A. Leedahl You’re welcome. I would first try it out on a short paddle. I did that and found it quite comfortable, but it take a little time to get use to. I’m only 5’5” so I was concerned at first but found them really nice.

@@DaleMrDSimmons Thanks again, Dale. I have the 210 ... based on your recommendation, I will try it on the water before I make a decision. Take care!

Same issue here, except opposite issue with the grips too narrow. Your arms need to be at a 90 degree angle ideally. What they're claiming is bogus. I'm thinking of just cutting mine off.

What was the length they gave you? 230? 240?
