Road Trip - Nairobi to Zanzibar - Intrepid Travel - P2: Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti National Park

We joined Intrepid Travel’s overland tour from Nairobi Kenya to Zanzibar. This is a camping road trip with stays in Mto Wa Mbu, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti National Park, Usambara mountains, Lushoto, Dar esSalaam, Zanzibar Stone Town, and North Beaches of Zanzibar.
In this episode, we start on Day 3 of the trip in Mto wa Mbu, with breakfast, then we load the sleeping mattresses, tents, and light bags into 4X4 jeeps for the safari. We then drive in the Safari jeeps to the Ngorongoro visitor centre, and pass through the gates, drive down into the crater and start wildlife viewing. We see lions, hippos, wildebeest, zebras, and other game animals during the safari.
We then have lunch at Ngoitokitok Picnic area before continuing our drive towards Serengeti National park. On the way, we enjoy the scenic trail drive on the gravel roads of the Serengeti in 4X4 jeeps, including a look at the electronics charging stations in the jeep. After we enter through the gates of Serengeti National park, we drive by the migrating wildebeest and zebras running across the bumpy Serengeti roads. As part of the wildlife viewing, we also spot lions, and hyenas. We then continue on to the Nguchiro Public Campsite where we spend the night, and an overview of the facilities (toilets, showers) at the campsite.
