I’m turning 60 this year and Freddy Inspires me so much to now “Do the Work”. I LOVE her house, her Garden her Talent it just makes my heart sing with all that colour. I paint my furniture Annie Sloan bright colours too 💚💛🩷🩵 I’m going to make it my mission to come to Sisters next year from Australia….I’ve been longing for years to do it x You all inspire me ❤
I met Freddie several years ago at the SF Quilt Guild Show. She was so kind to speak with my friend and me for several minutes. She is truly an international inspiration.
So glad I came across this glorious episode. I have loved Freddy Moran for so long because she is the quilter I always felt in my own heart, but that was not always embraced by the traditional quilt community when I first tried quilting as a teen 45 years ago. Fortunately, the quilt community has come a long way. Long live Freddy, a gal not much for rules, intuitive, colorful and expressive. What a treasue she is.

Thank you for a fantastic show. Freddy is beyond amazing. I wish my Mom could have seen this before she passed; she gave up doing almost everything way too soon. One of the things she said that hit home for me? "You have to do the work". Thank you Freddy!

Good morning,
My name is Susan Marvin, I will be 84 years old next month Feb 2024. I worked until I was 80 when Covid hit the world. It funny because I never liked quilting because of all the little squares. Needless to say, I happened onto some CZcams with people quilting so I began watching and found that I could do whatever I wanted with that fabric I didn't have to follow any rules. So I began collecting tools that would be needed,
My quilting begins in October 2021 just a few months before turning 81. I have now made over 25 quilt tops. I just see a design in everything around me. One quilt is partly from a ring I had seen. I am also trying some of the basics but adding my own ideas.
I loved seeing Feddie's work it has inspired me even more to use colors as she does in her work. She said one thing that made me think, I worry about what other people think about my work instead of just doing what I want. I am going to experiment even more. I feel I have a lot of years left to give to my quilting adventure.

This show made me weep. I have been inspired by Freddy’s work since she published her first book. I love her outlook on art and life. I am so thankful that you did this beautiful video. I got so much out of her wit and wisdom. Thank you Alex and Jean.
When I got into quilting I was NOT a fan of anything that wandered off the traditional path. And then one day, standing in Back Porch fabrics in Pacific Grove, CA, I saw a quilt up on the wall, Freddy's "Red Sticks". It blew my mind! The note below the quilt said it was on page 93 (or something like that) of the book she wrote with Gwen Marston. I found the book and the quilt was not on the stated page...turns out they co-wrote TWO books. I bought them both and my quilting life was changed forever. A workshop with Freddy and Gwen put my feet firmly on the path of improv and gave me the confidence to work on my colour handling skills. Jean Wells has also given me generous teaching and inspiration. Thankyou Freddy and Gwennie and Jean!

Thank you for this show. I actually started quilting years ago and one of the first books I had was Freddies House book. Love it. I adore her work. Love seeing her house again. Motivation for me to do more quilting today

Alex~~~So great to see a video with Freddy again. She is such a living inspiration to all Creatives. Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. This visit is like a Penicillin shot in the arm for anyone suffering from a good case of "artists' block". There is just so much eye-candy to spark and jump start viewers. For the sake of brevity, I'll just say that creatively, things have opened up for me since December 2022 and it has been a joyful roller coaster ride ever since. I turned 80 in October of '23 and the wonder of it all is mind boggling. Thanks again, Alex and Jean...........wonderful and wonder full video. OH.....any chance that you can find out what is the name/brand of the blue paint color of Freddy's stairs??? lol lol lol

Freddy really is a treasure, isn’t she? I have been a great fan for years. My favorite color is red. So whenever she said red is a neutral, I was hooked. Isn’t it funny how well known that statement is ?
My hero - the woman who taught me that it's okay that purple is in everything I do - it's my neutral. 💜
