Voltron, Defender of the Universe returns! The single best-selling character in the history of the Chogokin series is back with amazing posability and, of course, the ability to break down into five lions. Also includes an optional screaming face to replicate battle scenes! The 270mm tall diecast figure comprises the Red Lion, Green Lion, Blue Lion, Yellow Lion, and Black Lion, and accessories include the large sword and twin smaller swords plus a variety of other weapons. Includes a stand. Packaging for Western markets comes with a special sleeve that features a larger Voltron logo, while the package underneath features the Golion logo more recognizable in Asian markets.

I had the Matchbox Lion Voltron as a kid too. I got it for my birthday one year and almost passed out from excitement. That's not an exaggeration. I loved that toy. I felt so giddy when I received the SOC version. This set is a love letter to Golion/Voltron. Such an awesome piece! Awesome review.

There are a lot of GX-71 Golion reviews on CZcams right now, but few are as comprehensive and informative from a true fan's point of view/perspective unlike this one from Charles. He always is real and tells it how it is whether good or bad. Thanks as always for taking the time to put together this video review Charles. The height comparisons segment was really good to see and know. ROBOT JAPAN Forums Forever!

I have never seen a Soul of Chogokin, thus far, sell out as fast as Voltron/Golion. When the 2nd production of this figure was available for pre-ordering on BBTS, It sold out in less than half an hour! I'm so glad I got a pre-order in before it sold out.

You convinced me that I should get this figure. I had the Matchbox version as a kid, and absolutely loved it (mostly because I liked playing with the lions more than the combined figure), I've been wanting to get another Voltron for the shelf for a while. However, the vintage figures cost crazy amounts, even the re-releases cost so much that it just made sense to me to take the money that it would have cost me to get one of those and spend the little bit extra for this version.

The silver mouths on the lions are cool, and I know that’s probably more accurate, however, I would have liked to have seen the Soul of Chogokin lions with the white mouths like the original toy. The crisp white stripe going down the heads of the red and green lion with the white mouth would really make the primary colors pop even more.

Extending the arm joint does give him quite a bit more elbow bend. Enough for him to double wield his sword as a matter of fact. This is definitely the best Voltron ever. Just amazing quality , heft and detail. And the most pose able. Best toy of 2017!

Fantastic review as always! I grew up with the Third Dimension version of Voltron and had an all plastic figure of him. That is what got me into chogokkn. I absolutely loved it, but this SOC is top notch. The thing that would of made it perfect is if Bandai could of designed the legs of the lions to be replaceable with cover parts to make it look how Voltron appears in robot mode w/ out all the different lion legs visible.

Great review! I got the Ultimate Voltron EX instead because I like the more modern stylized look that still manages to stay pretty true to old Voltron much better, and the size, but aside from those two things almost every aspect of this SOC version from articulation and accessories to price is just hands-down superior.

Nice review! Best Voltron figure in the world! BBTS will most def send you the item like that. Their rating for box is 80%. I find that to be bull for a brand new figure. It more than likely did happen in shipping, but there is just not much room for error if box gets banged around. I ship all the time selling on ebay and I always use bigger size box with adequate padding. Yes it may cost more for box size, but I want my customers to receive it just the way they seen it and the way I sent it. Dont trust any shipping service to be careful with your packages because they are not.

Hi, first of all I wanted to say I really enjoy your reviews. I decided to buy this version of Voltron despite it's higher price today. I expected my figure to be new as advertised by the professional seller but I have some doubts as the plastic doesn't look smooth ie with some kind of thin hair lines due to rubbing. This occurs especially on the black & red lion. Is this normal ? Could this be stock deterioration due to aging ? The chrome looks perfect though.

Hey man i just picked one of these up, do the feet on all the lions have a joint to press them flat in a wide stance? Mine dont want to seem to move & i dont want to break them off!

I dont think all of them do. If they do its very slight. I dont have it with me to check. Most likely the manual will show a diagram of the movements if you are in doubt

Wow...what a tough question. I grew up with the vintage so thats my favorite but I do love the looks of the new one. If its not about nostalgia, go for the GX. I personally cant be without either one lol. As a kid I probably would have chosen the GX for sure.

Question RobotPunch, what type of connection joint are the arms for Voltron? Will the connection wear after removing the arms number of times? I wish it has a button to release the arms. It seem to be some sort of function joints and they tends to wear down due to some play. What’s your take? and are there any tricks to remove the arms easily then to just do a strong pull on them? A different question, how does SOC Voltron stand next to MPP-10 oversized, what’s the height differences? Thanks for the video and your help.

The conection post on the arm lions is pure metal. The socket on the black lion is a metal shaft with a plastic or rubberish bushing inside that the posts socket onto. It is unquestionably the most solid and stable connection point I have yet seen in a Soul of Chogokin figure. It almost makes me think of auto parts the way it fits together. The only thing I might be concerned with is wear to the chrome plating on the metal tail/post sections. The bushing that they connect to is a soft plastic, almost like a washer you use for garden hoses or plumbing.

Thanks Andrew for the detail insight on this connection. I never handle something this expensive before so, therefore; my mind is questioning certain connection such as the arms will it last due to extensive used.
