    Very nice - it’s amazing how good a kid can sound without a vibrato

    I was interested to learn that the boy in this video, Andreas Jankowitsch, is Ferdinand Jankowitsch's son!

    I suppose that I like Jean-Baptiste Maunier. I love this song though, and I love the Petits Chanteurs De Saint-Marc and the Vienna Boys Choir...so anything is basically beautiful for me.

    You're correct. The Phoenix Boys Choir performs this every year so I'm pretty familiar with it :)

    of course, Pueri Concinite was written for the choir by Herbecke in the 19th Century. The name Jankowitch also has a long history in the WSK. i have a recording of Ferdinand Jankovitch which must date from the 50s singing this. His brother Ernst also sings alto on the record - so this lad is probably a relative!

    Möchte nicht versäumen, an dieser Stelle auf
    die Aufnahme(n) mit Ferdinand, dem Vater von Andreas Jankowitsch aus dem Jahre 1956 hinzuweisen ! "Tag" Jankowitsch....:)
    Onkel Ernst ist auch dabei.

    maestrovoci is of course perfectly correct that this was written for tenor solo - there is a recording of Domingo singing it with wsk, but am I not correct that wsk formed the top line of the Hofburg kapelle choir at the time it was written, and still do? for me the best performance i know of the piece is on the Capriccio 1995 video, sung by Thomas Puschegger. I must admit to singing it as a tenor myself - it features in our church repertoire most years!

    JB sings it quite well, but this kid seems to reach the higher notes easely. If u see JB he, seems 2 reach high notes with diffuclty. Anyway, they both sing very very very well!! :)

    @Hahnimkorb100 I TOO learned (am still learning :P) Latin and I'm taught to pronounce "c"'s as "K"'s and AE is ai and stuff like that. Church Latin is indeed with a sort of Z/Ch but I was taught that in ancient Latin they pronounced it as a K. But of course no one is complete sure :)

    • @treblefan77
      @treblefan77 Před 7 lety

      No current Latin teacher was living in the ancient Rome. Cicero for example for me is not "Kikero" !

    I love the song, but this rendition has such abrupt cut offs (especially by the soloist). Sometimes I want to say "you've got to be able to hold that note if you're gonna be the best singer in the supposed best boy choir in the world." ~former choir boy member.

    • @kyleb3754
      @kyleb3754 Před 4 lety

      His rendition of the song was close to perfect, but i too thought the tempo could have been slower and he could have held the notes longer. I love this song myself but I don't have near enough talent to sing it lol

    I also agree that Jean-Baptiste's version is much better. Vienna boys of cos is perfect, but too perfect, almost like a bit robotic. JB's and PCSM is far more "human", like speaking to you a little story. And of cos, JB's voice is just like a little angel, where you can only hear in heaven, never on earth.
    Really miss JB's angelic voice...
