It's Revamp time for the return of a Follin soundtrack, and we get the first solo NES work by the one and only Geoff Follin with Tom & Jerry: The Ultimate Game of Cat and Mouse! Geoff does a great job arranging and adapting the music by Scott Bradley (who did music from the original cartoon) onto the NES soundchip, while no original tracks were composed, it seemed Geoff wanted to test how good his Arranging skills were for his first solo NES soundtrack, and it's pretty dang great, with the two main Stage Themes being medley's of various themes from the cartoons, a very nice touch not many composers in this era I feel would have done. The wonderful instrumentation from Stephen Ruddy's Sound Driver works well with the songs from the Tom & Jerry cartoons, the energy is there and just like his brother Tim, the arpeggios are swingin' and "Stage Theme 2" is a great showcase of what Geoff can do on the NES. While a short soundtrack, this would just be a taste of the amazing soundtracks Geoff Follin would bring to the NES!
The game itself is often criticized for its difficulty and how easy it is to take damage and game over, Software Creations certainly made difficult designed games at times, but I feel they treated the IP of Tom & Jerry respectably, with decent controls and graphics/environment that rivals Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers in terms of the scope of how big levels feel, and frankly, I think Software Creations did it better!

Geoff Follin just passed away recently from pancreatic cancer, may he rest in peace.
Great little soundtrack.. Lots of memories come back hearing it.. one of the NES games I owned as a kid.

Definitely one of my favorite tracks by Geoff Follin.
For his first solo soundtrack, it's pretty dang good, and he only got better with the next games he did on the NES! :D

I know people like to state "the Follin Brothers compose incredible music for garbage games" but this is a really fun sidescroller that's often overlooked.

I feel people like to throw in games that are garbage for just being ridiculously hard, sure if the controls were truly awful or the programming was wonky or made elements of the game unfair in certain parts, sure, but this games quality is actually pretty good, it's just easy to take damage and Game Over, but its certainly not given much of a look from that. But the Follin's music were certainly always the best part of these games :P

Of course! All the Follin OST's shall be done eventually! Nice to get Geoff's first solo work here some love, I love that the Stage Themes incorporate so many musical elements from the cartoons which makes them a nice medley, just a nice touch.

A well deserved revamp. It's often slept upon but it's a very good game, and I agree better than Chip'n Dale with some level of challenge and a killer soundtrack.
It certainly doesn't deserve as much of hate like other games on the console, this is basically if you actually wanted an actual challenge from a Chip n Dale style game, plus you got Geoff Follin's wonderful euro vibes! :D
I still remember when the game starts and T&J's faces are shown, if you quickly press Right Right Up Left Up Right Down B A Select you always have 99 lives ;)

Its criticism is fair for how hard it is with taking damage easily, but Geoff Follin truly keeps the charm of this game worth looking into! And you're welcome! :D

A few of the mp3s in the mega folder seem to be broken or something. My music players don't seem to recognize them for some reason. This was the case in the Castlevania 3 and Bionic Commando OSTs as well.
I'm sorry that is happening to you. I've asked some people I know to download those OST's and see if the files are corrupt or don't play in any form, and they said they play fine, and I've just re-zipped and re-uploaded those OST's onto Mega, so if re-downloading them doesn't fix anything, just hit me up on Twitter or my Discord (link in About section) and I'll send the MP3's of what you need personally to see if that fixes anything. 👍
@@Nikos8BitStereoI appreciate it! I'll check and see if these new ones work. It's so weird, I've downloaded a ton of the stuff you've done and it works just fine, and the "broken" files all seem fine, but my programs just refuse to recognize them.
Alright, it's been a week and I think I figured out part of the problem. On my main computer, which runs linux, the files just don't want to work for some reason, but on my windows 10 laptop, they work just fine. I don't understand WHY that's the case, but it is. I guess I'll download them onto my laptop and then move them around from there instead of my main machine. Really bizarre. Thanks again for the effort you put in!
