    Nice job on the engine and break in. Hopefully you get many hours of driving w/o the hassles of breakdowns.

    I just picked up a lst with a 454 in it today for 150 bucks. Car is super clean, and it's my first nitro car. Do you have to clean the carb out on these when they sit for a while?

      @haywirerc  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I would recommend just buy a whole new carb. Carb insides can easily be cleaned but I’m more worried about the o rings. Sh .28 carb on Amain is exact same carburetor as losi and is very inexpensive. If you want you can get a o ring kit and rebuild the carburetor yourself but you need to set factory tune after taking it all apart as buying new carb will be factory tuned.
      You may have some trouble starting it and I recommend taking glow plug out and see if it shines bright. You should be able to see glow in a well lit room. If any doubt put an new one in and the new one will be good for a month or longer depending on how much you run it. Hopefully this isn’t the case but if engine is still having trouble the pinch is gone inside of the engine and you will need a piston and sleeve.
      It may take a while but don’t give up. You inspired me to make a video going over my experience as I had have many hours of trying to start the LST(took me 10 months to make it perfect).
      Tuning comes with time and patience, the more patient you are and tune one small adjustment at a time you’ll be fine. Also don’t over tune to make it perfect. You’d rather be too rich than lean as you saw in the break in video and others after. You lean out the truck the more confortable you get. Factory high speed should need any touching unless it is really cold or if you are using high oil fuel, anything more than 10%. VP 30% 9% is super easy to tune but pricey.
      My final thoughts are just remember when having engine sitting it is at bottom dead center and is oiled. All my engines have marks on the flywheel to show that piston is at exact bottom dead center, but as long as engine isn’t at top you’ll be fine. I oil my engines, 3 drops in cylinder and about 4 drops in crank and one in carb, every time I know I won’t be running it for more than a week. Depending in fuel quality you will have to oil it after every run to keep engine great. Vp 30% 9% says it doesnt require after run oil.
      There’s a lot and I still have a ton more to say so I’ll write up a video. Gonna take a lot to gather my thoughts lol!
      Wish you luck with your LST!

      Hell yes, this is exactly what I needed. I have 30 plus rc cars, but they are all electric. The lst I got is really clean and does run, but the fuel I got with it is probably 4 years old. It fires off but definitely needs tuning for sure. The fuel I just purchased is losi/vp fuel and is 20%, I do believe. I've been reading on this and have come to the conclusion that if the o rings are bad idle will never set right. From what I was told, the cat sat for about 3 years now. My plan was to get fresh fuel and try again to see if I can tune it. I really appreciate all the feedback.

      @@haywirercI am coming back into the hobby after so long. I have a Losi 8IGHT-T 2.0 RTR that came with this engine stock. Was able to start it a week or two ago, fortunately, after being in storage for a while. Just waiting on new receiver batteries as the one that came with it is no good anymore, which is not surprising for how old it is haha. But I’m prioritizing maintaining the engine right now and seeing where it’s at before getting it fully running. Glow plug is still good. It lit up when I connected it with my igniter. However, I definitely should change it to help with getting the engine start and run better. I wanted to know what glow plugs you’d recommend to use and to have a couple for backup. Thank you in advance for any info you give.

      @@LR0133 i use a LRP R4 medium plug with VP 30% 9% R5 is good too but I felt a little extra punch with the R4 but initially I started with an R5 like in this video.
