  • As it's been 2 yeas and after 5000 hard miles on the Hyper, I always wanted to get inside the airbox and to take a closer look at the throttle bodies.
I've accessed the airbox numerous times now but this is the first time I've taken it apart to expose the intakes, trumpets on the throttle body. There was more dirt around the inside of the airbox than the flaps on the throttle body.
Still a good exercise to complete and something that all of you can easily do yourself. Just take your time and remember where each of the plugs go - take your time to disconnect them without breaking them!

I just came back from Ducati of Tampa, great guy's and my HM/SP would die at idle once in a while after they checked it for codes or needed updates. Service manger recommends to do this, he said I could do it or they could.

I’ve removed my Evap (have a video on it) and not had a single stall since.

You can easily disconnect the fuel line and you should clean the underside of the TB valves where the injectors are. The bit on the outside of the airbox is the EVAP return circuit and the one on the inside is an air temp sensor. ;-)

Its the one hose down the side connected to the airbox i couldnt remove or have a tool for which limited how i could move/position the airbox..

@@hypermotardking there are two, the crank vent down the rear right and the air box drain tube down the left, which you have to pull up from down by the left of the oil cooler. It’s a little bit of a pain, but worth seeing if the bottom side of the valves have residue. Ultimately the edge of the TB valves and where they meet the intake when full closed is where it matters.

I remember when I did mine the stacks under the throttle bodies were covered in white dried frosting like crud. It was really bad. I had to vacum down in the engine case as bits were falling engine when i was cleaning.

You’re the second person who suggested i should have checked underneath 🤛🏼👍🏻

The hose connections on the right side are the air injection system. smart Moto makes a kit so you can delete that. that is pumping air into your cylinders and causing a lean condition it's there to introduce more oxygen into the system. And since you've gone this far into the system it's easy to remove the injectors and clean them there's all kinds of information on CZcams on how to do that I actually have a machine to do mine.

Cheers for the tip.. maybe have another go over winter time and get some reading done before hand - never really gone further than this 😭

Have you ever used an fuel additive to “clean” the fuel lines?

It hasn’t been in long like a few months.. didn’t look at all dirty or bad when gave it a close up.. still felt a touch oliy (the oil treatment) so left it 👍🏻

Thats a temporary error from my 14T sprocket change. I have a bluetooth OBD adapater and iOS app to clear the fault : czcams.com/video/J26RtK06c6c/video.html

I see you’ve still got all the paint marks on the bolts from the factory. I tried all sorts to clean mine off, then my mate gave me a spray called loctite 7063 and they just wiped right off. It’s a solvent cleaner that’s safe on paints metals and plastics but somehow melts the marker paint away in seconds. It’s great for cleaning chain oil sling as well

My aprilia was absolutely covered in blue marks and it used to stand out massively against the black and red
