One of the coolest opening segments of a movie I have watched, hell, probably ever. The arrival to the system seeing the massive Gas Giant and the moon of Pandora which looks like nothing more than a small satellite with nothing special on it. You've never seen anything up close like the gas giant before even though you have many times seen pictures of Jupiter but never came so close. But you can feel the gravitational pull even at a decent distance. It's a massive and imposing planet that is forever in your eyeline because it takes up the entire horizon. Then your ship descends and the breaking through of the atmosphere begins, finally revealing to you Pandora, and you see it for what it truly is, a moon world of complete jungle and seas, untamed, harsh and inhospitable, unwelcoming and yet beautiful. You craft begins to lower its altitude and you begin to see flying creatures scared off by the sounds and swarming in the distance, you also see what appear to be mountains, but they can't be because they seem to be floating in midair. You then land and are greeted by something you would see every day on Earth, just a normal looking base with fellow Marines, scientists, and mechs walking back and forth. But you also notice the steep and powerful fences around the base which seem to enclose you. You realize that those fences aren't there to protect the base from any enemy you have seen before but are meant to save you from every type of wildlife on the moon who wants to hunt and eat you. You then enter the briefing, and an old, grizzled Marine tells it to you like it truly is, that his job is to keep you all alive, and that he will fail because Pandora is just that rough. What a cool scene.
@@detritus3676 Yeah, we did. Pandora is actually a moon, but that aside, they have xenon in the atmosphere, 20 % less gravity, and more carbon dioxide and oxygen than Earth. That's why it's lethal to the human respiratory system and why they're able to grow so tall (Na'vi and trees). The only inconsistency that doesn't make sense to me is how the moon of Pandora isn't tidally locked to the gas giant it orbits. Maybe it is...I don't know, but if not, that's probably because it's far away enough from the gas giant to have a normal orbit. It's mass is 20% less than Earth's, and that's why it has 20% less gravity.

@@janoycresva276 I mean yea. The film isn't perfect but at the same time, I think calling it a cutscene from a PS2 game is a little bit harsh don't you think haha. Alastair Tsang the nature visuals look great for sure but this scene looked EXACTLY like a cutscene from a PS2 game.
