Great video. I grew up on a farm years ago and after my parents bought the farm they proceeded to have 5 daughters so we built fences, cut firewood, changed irrigation pipes, butchered animals and a multitude of other thing having to do with harvesting garden, apple orchards, cherry trees and lots of berries. I miss it to this day. Girls are great on a farm. My dad taught us well. Love you videos. God bless you all. Hope you heal fast.
In 2022 I was supposed to have a knee replacement surgery, that didn't happen. I ended up finding a lump in my breast. It was cancer. I had that taken care of, (chemo and radiation) in addition to my husband having AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia, bought a doublewide home and moved in that October, then my husband had a Bone Marrow transplant (aka stem cell transplant. That was a trying year! Plus I worked full-time through the whole thing! I still work full-time. We're no spring chicken's anymore! I'll be 70 this year.
Wow, that is a lot to go through.
God gives strength you can do all things through Christ who strengthens youâïžđ€đ

Ugh, so sorry about your injury, Mike! I'm glad the family can rally around to get the chores done. It's so crazy that just when I was thinking to myself, "Selah's hair is beautiful!", you brought up her hair.
Mike, your family is such a great example of hard work, and coming together for each other. I've felt like we lost this in the last twenty or thirty years.
This was the definition of the American way!

Ladies, make sure he rests enough to let his muscles heal. My Dad had to have a bicep reattachment, and it can make for a long, sad summer watching him be frustrated when he has to follow doctor's orders for him to heal in a brace. I will be praying for Abba's quick healing and no more injuries. I will pray for the rest of the family for endurance and perseverance. Mat Abba watch over you all.

I too have had a serious injury; rotator cuff tear and surgery. I was not able to put in my spring garden at all...very disappointing, But after 6 months of healing I am getting started on planning for a fall garden. Sometimes we have to take a season out to heal. Glad to see the family coming to work with you and get things done. Love watching your family grow and helps me to see that we all need this community of farming on youtube to support each other as well. Prayers for fast healing Mike.

I am a senior adult, and I love to stay active. Between my own household chores, my volunteer jobs, and being a reppayee (who has to take the person shopping, etc.).
Even when I have nothing to do, I am still looking for things to do at home, such as crafting.
When I had my knee replacement last year, I was down for 4 months. I drove myself crazy.
I, too, do not like to ask for help. However, it is humbling when you do.

You're a trooper, Mike! I fell off a ladder a couple of months ago and tore my rotator cuff. It's pretty frustrating to not be able to do things.

My husband and I are active people. That was until I had brain surgery over 10 years ago and my husband fell 49 ft and broke his back 4 yrs ago. We do our best to stay as active as we can now! I do all the yard work now and we can all of our veggies and meats!! Just not as fast!!
I like to keep active. This time of year, I try to have all my outdoor chores done by 8:30-9:00am. Then all day i stay in the air conditioning!

I do remember that episode where Pa had a job that would reap a wonderful bonus if completed on time, however, with his injury, that didn't look like it would be possible, and they REALLY NEED THAT MONEY! Everybody pitched in, and last of all was the business owner...getting his own hands helping Pa! Great series! Always worth watching! : )

Get well soon! I fell back in March bruised myself up something terrible! I also hurt my arm. Honestly thought I had broken it. I went immediately to the ER and they said I had no broken bones. Even went to see my orthopedist, who said I had no working bones. Then had to have two months of physical therapy on it only to find out 11 weeks after thatâŠmy shoulder was broken the whole time.

All of us have a point where we have to learn to slow down and work with other people get things done heal and go on wiser

Oh no! Injuries are no fun! Here in Tucson, I have to cover my vegetable garden with shade cloth by about mid April most years. The sun is brutal here! Winter is the best time to have a garden here.

I remember that Little House where Pa broke his ribs. & the Guy he was working for still wanted the work done even with him hurt. The Girls started helping him & when all the men in town came to help. The Boss said Well I was just going to help him when I seen the little one try. We know that was a lie. What a great one.

Two years ago I had a torn rotator cuff, bicep and bursar muscle that I had to have surgery for. The recovery was amazing. Last year my husband had laparoscopic surgery on his left knee for a torn meniscus then he had three on his right knee meniscus. It kept tearing again so this February he had to have full knee replacement on it. His recovery was rough at first but now he's better than ever. We're in our 50s. We've had each other's back through lots of ups and downs. It strengthens your bond as a couple as well as your marriage.
Get your arm looked at and do what you need to do Lacy and the kids are a large help .love you guys. The baby is growing up so fast ,God bless you all .
I feel your pain. Sorry It's a Bummer. I tore my calf muscle the end of March & had a huge hematoma. It took more than 2 months to get healed up. Hard to get the garden in and so on when you are bunged up. I'm not one to sit around & I don't ask for help very well. So it probably took longer to heal than if I'd stayed off it better. You do what ya gotta do, right. đNice you have such good helpers.

My husband just pooped his bicep and had to have it surgically fixed. He is out for three months. He grabbed onto a goat collar the goat went one way he went the other and pop, he also did not go to the doctor right away and it caused more problems than if he had gone right away. He ended up with a huge hematoma that was starting to cause compartment syndrome. Good luck keep care of your body. We know how you feel. Your body is telling you to take a break.
No time is ever a good time to suffer an injury, but how awesome that you had a team to back you up, Mike! Well done to the ladies of your house! Including Anna!
Day off tomorrow for me, im starting early and getting out to the garden. Gonna work as long as I can doing some clean up and harvesting herbs. Also need to pin up the tomatoes again. Enjoy the rest of your week!!

I love how much your family works together. You have done such a good job teaching your kids-both of you! I was raised in a loving family, as well. We had a dairy farm and it required all hands on deck, because it was truly the OLDEN DAYS. I am 87 and learned how to work, driving a team of horses before dad was able to buy a little tractor. Wouldnât trade what I learned on the farm for anything. When we were milking, my dad would sing to me Have I ToldYou Lately That I Love You.

Active and busy; but age does require more rest time than before. I feel ya'. A couple of months ago, I woke up and couldn't move my left arm, rotator injury. I am a singlesteader, so I had to figure out how to do it one armed for a bit. Thank goodness I didn't have the extent of work you do! You are blessed to have a true partner in every sense of the word.

Yes, I fell off a ladder, cracked my right leg on the edge of a table on the way down and broke my right tibia and fibula. Three months later I am just starting to walk without support and still not able to drive. Major bummer for getting work done,
Great episode of Little House. And also the episode where the storm came through and the men went to look for work and the ladies harvested the wheat that had been beat down. Love stories like that!
