My favorite cover athlete is MLB the show 17 Ken Griffey Jr. The only reason I picked that cover is because that was the only MLB the show experience I ever had in my video game playing career. I was over at a family member's house at the time. MLB 2005 (which I rented from the defunct Movie Gallery) was the only other MLB game I did but I only played it for a few days before returning. Maybe soon I will do MLB the show 21 for the Xbox 1.

My favorite MLB the show cover is mlb 06 the show, with David Ortiz on the cover. it was the first one I owned for the PSP, I have so much memories playing that game, doing the season mode, and road to the show before it was called road to the show where you could do your at bats but had to control your whole team on defence 😂. MLB 2006 for the PS2 with Vlad on the cover is another cuz it was the first MLB the show I ever played. Its amazing to see how far they come. From the blocky graphics to the true to life graphics they have now. And also seeing them go from a Sony exclusive to being on every console now. I used to own a 360 so I had to settle with the shitty MLB 2k games while PlayStation owners were blessed with the show. As an Xbox one owner. Its so nice to finally have the show and a baseball game worth playing again. And on a unlrelated note. MVP baseball 05 is my favorite baseball game ever. And is the best baseball game ever made
Favorite Cover athlete is Vladimir Guerrero. First one to represented my country and it’s pretty cool that his son will be on the new cover this year. I know they’re celebrating at home together for this accomplishment. Both well deserved
I was today years old when I found out that MLB The Show is the same series as the old MLB games from the late 90’s lol. It’s crazy there used to be so many different MLB video game series back then.

My favorite mlb cover is mlb 23 because I am a huge marlins fan (I know they are not the best) but they mean alot to me, I had a practice ball thrown to me from José Fernández himself back during his rookie year before he sadly passed and since that day I have always loved anything marlins.

I am Venezuelan and without a doubt my favorite cover of MLB The Show is the 2014 edition with Miguel Cabrera, the greatest pride for our country in the past decade. A baseball legend and the only baseball player from my country who has been on the cover of this great video game.

Showing my age here lol but MLB 2000 was the first one I ever played and loved that Mo Vaughn was on the cover, a guy who doesn’t nearly get enough credit as one of the better power hitters of the 90’s/2000’s

MLB 15 with The Wild Horse Yasiel Puig.. to have Dodger Stadium in the background one of the most iconic Stadiums in baseball.. then that pose of Puig was telling everyone I’m coming..

I remember walking into the blockbuster with my mom after I had just gotten a PS3 for my birthday (back when the OG PS3 could play PS2 games) and I remember seeing it on the shelf. I then proceeded to probably put over 1000 hours of my young life into it even playing it years after.
On my Career mode ( before road to the show, yes I’m old!) I had a squad of myself Travis Hafner and Richie Sexon and we would combine for like 200 HRs ever year shit was absolutely insane. Just whenever I see that cover it brings back great memories

If you weren't watching baseball in the early 2000s, I could understand not understanding Chavez pick. But for about 5 years there was two 3rd baseman. Scott Rolen and Eric Chavez. Chavez was on sportscenter top 10 and web gems EVERY week. Incredibly underrated and sadly forgotten

@@bigfloridapimpHe played 300 more games at 3rd base than George Brett. And gold glove is a dumb award, Rafael Palmero won it for 1st base in 1999 and only played 28 games there.
@@Pwnzistor I very clearly specified early 2000s. I only made a statement about 2000-2004/5ish. George Brett is irrelevant. Chipper playing LF disqualifies him from consideration. And when you come up with a better way to grade defense prior to advance fielding stats that doesn't involve gold gloves and being alive to watch them play, lemme know. Because Chavez was on web gems every week, I believe he may have had the most top play appearances of anyone for quite a while too. My original comment stands. In the early 2000s Eric Chavez and Scott Rolen were the two best 3rd basemen. If Chavez played for the Yankees or Mets, he would have been a much bigger name. But on the A's, people look back on his MLB game cover thinking it's random. But if you had to choose a 3rd basemen at the time, it would have been Rolen or Chavez. Because they were the two best

Vlad Jr didn't deserve the cover. When they pulled up in DR on the reveal, I was thinking ok Acuña or Rodriguez- nice. And then out of nowhere it's Vladdy. Wtf seriously. He had a great rookie season but has been downhill since then. The internet was pretty unanimous in saying it should've been Acuña or Rodriguez. Unfortunate but it is what it is.
They couldn't because they are both on the cover of other games this year.
