Was in accident, other driver cited & at fault, their insurance covered damage, but my insurance skyrocketed on next renewal!!! It wasn't my fault & my insurance didn't pay a dime!! I never even involved my insurance company. Was told their was a claim in national database that included my VIN, doesn't matter about details/fault or payout company. Like how is this fair, much less legal. Tried other companies for quotes, pretty much same response, VIN in system makes you high risk?? It's so wrong

I'm 58 years old, no tickets since I was 18, no accidents, absolutely stellar driving record. I live in the country, I have 5 neighbors in a 1000acre spread of land. Why? Thier reasoning is because I own a Tesla and they are expensive to replace. Funny thing, my neighbor has a 90K truck, tickets, accidents and he pays less than me. Guess what, he has the same insurance company. So I call them back. How is my 32k bluebook value Tesla Model S more expensive than my neighbors NEW 90K truck. She fired back with administrative costs again and said that It's because the car can go really fast. WHAT! If the government is going to mandate insurance, they need to mandate that these insurance companies profiting BILLIONS annually to stop making so much profit. I'm so pissed. I am an insurance adjuster and I can tell you the reason why rates are going up. Car manufacturers have raised the prices of replacement parts 300% and 400% for parts to repair cars. Then there’s the tow companies charging $1000 for a 8 mile tow, body shops charging $250/day for storage plus every kind of creative fee they can dream up. And let’s not forget about the judicial hellholes all over the country (particularly in FL) in which the legislators and the personal injury attorneys collaborate and write the laws for their own business benefit to wring as much money from the insurance companies as possible. I am not lying. The gouging, fraud, greed and legal robbery is currently at a level you wouldn’t believe. Then throw a few hurricanes and hail storms on top of it all and unless the rates go up, then there ARE NO insurance companies. An insurance company is incentivized to keep rates as low as possible in order to grow. That’s how they grow, by attracting customers. When rates go up, people leave, so raising rate isn’t what an insurance company wants to do unless it has to. It isn’t greedy insurance companies trying to rip you off as you think. The fundamental business environment has become a culture of ripping off the insurance companies. Yes, you heard me right. It is THE INSURANCE COMPANIES THAT ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF. This is done by car manufacturers, body shops, tow companies, personal injury lawyers, chiropractors, medical billers, etc…and also insured individuals perpetrating fraudulent claims. I see it every day. These reasons, plus the increased cost of labor for repair technicians, carpenters, electricians, etc… is why rates are going up. The media, as well as people like you, love to portray insurance companies as the root evil and that is not true. Insurance companies are trying to survive just like everyone else. It is not insurance company greed causing premium rates to go up, it is inflation and the cost of doing business (which includes the vendor greed) that is causing rates to go up. Don’t be so simplistic and stop buying into the politicians gaslight diversion tactic that puts all the blame on the horrible insurance companies.

Same here. When asked why the rep said, "Because your car is newer it has more technology in it which drives repair costs up"
You want to know why companies preach "Safety first"? That's why. It means there's no price tag too high that you can place when it comes to your safety. Mr. Business man goes to congress, slips a congressman some money to make a new "safety" law that requires you to spend more money on their stuff. Of course a politician can't say no to safety either. It's not a good look and would make for a great smear campaign from the other guy. So they all get their incentivized cut of that good ol' American Pie.

Hey Jack, I’m glad you’re raising awareness for this. I’d like to give people a snapshot into my story too to see how messed up it is-
I was paying for just road legal coverage, the lowest possible. Old company wanted $850 for 3 vehicles (all paid off). I thought wow that’s a lot. But I paid it (6 months). 6 months later I turned 25, and it should go down (I’ve had no accidents nor tickets). Yet they were gonna bill me the SAME $850 after turning 25. I thought- that’s strange, so I called around, dropped a vehicle, and got a quote for $330 for 2 vehicles (6 months). If I hadn’t turned 25, I would’ve let them BOHICA me again. Please be wary guys, you have -the right- to shop around, so use it. Don’t let them steal from us because we are lazy.

A few years ago I sold both trucks & just got a used 2019 truck. They then turned around & DOUBLED my insurance for one vehicle!!
I was now going to have to pay almost $300 a month just for ONE! Fast forward today & the cheapest I could get insurance on the same truck is about $850/6 months with a $2500 deductible.

Let me offer insider perspective from the industry.
Car insurance is a requirement for driving because there were too many bad drivers that killed/hurt people and the victim had no recourse (remember that episode of Bart when Mr Burns ran him over?) Now, with everyone having insurance, most people can just go after the insurance company and don't have to lawyer up.
Most insurance isn't for YOUR protection. Insurance requirement is so that the system knows that you hit someone, the insurance companies will step in to cover the medical cost of the victim. In some jurisdiction, the bare minimum insurance coverage doesn't even cover your medical bill, so you would simply get nothing from your insurance company 😂
As for WHY insurance has gotten so expensive: It's because we tolerate bad drivers. Drivers who speed, race, don't do full stop at stop signs, run red lights, park in handicaps, drunk drive, don't signal when they change lanes...etc. All of them, all of Us, are to be blamed for the high prices.
YOU tolerate bad drivers then Bad drivers get into accident, and YOU have to pay a share of that driver's mistake. Don't like it? STOP TOLERATING BAD DRIVERS!

    • @DuhByrd
      @DuhByrd Před 13 dny +1

I'm all for railing agains the big companies for the premiums they charge, but not having any liability insurance and having something happen is not only illegal and totally IMMORAL if you damage others' property or worse, but you're setting yourself up for liability and criminal charges. A very close friend of mine was coming home from work a few years ago and a woman was on her phone and hit him on his motorcycle as she missed a stop sign. She had NO insurance and it basically ruined his life as he ended up losing his leg. Sadly, he couldn't work anymore even though he DID come back with a prosthetic leg, but he had too much difficulty. Eventually, cancer took him a couple of years ago. She ended up with a short jail sentence and was strapped with a huge lawsuit. It never ends well and it's NEVER good to not be responsible when we are driving around four thousand pound machines and we should at the very least have LIABILITY insurance for others' benefit.

You should do research before you switch to any insurance company. That company you are using has horrible reviews when it comes to paying claims. GEICo is expensive… but at least if I get into a car accident… They will either replace the car or repair it. Be very careful.

And that is why you pay high cost insurance.

Getting a great deal. 150 a month for 100k worth of cars full coverage.
I'm with a big company but dated my agent.
When it was going well she showed me she can just make a few clicks it will be half the rate and they still make profit.
