- I decided to put my MTB skills to the test and try riding street trials on my downhill bike which is basically the opposite use of what the bike is designed for!
I would say that a downhill mountain bike is the most one use bike of all, designed specifically for hitting jumps, finding grip and blasting down the side of a mountain however as this video shows I was surprised as to how well it adapted to the trials lines I attempted.
My bike is a custom built downhill bike running FOX 40 suspension, Halo wheels, Gusset components and SRAM drivetrain!

Awesome stuff Tom. Your trials skills are great. Just watching you warming up in the car park, you make it look effortless, regardless of the bike you're on. That long jump looks pretty epic. I can just imagine Kara standing there thinking don't crash, don't crash. Great video.

Amazing control. I saw you two arriving at Forest of Dean downhill on Thursday afternoon, and I was very glad I'd already finished my little session in the skills area, so I didn't end up with a role in the next video as the clown in the background being shown up by mad shit like this....

It's always just made sense to me to do trials on a sus bike.. that way you've got some cushioning from big drops etc.. look at Danny Mac, whilst not downhill I don't think I've seen him on a rigid, at least not one of those elongated trials bikes without the seat.. Ali Clarkson on the Santa Cruz looks pretty cool too..
Anyway, nice riding and funny how it just became about that long jump at the end.. glad you didn't take a tumble, looked pretty dangerous..
Borrow Sam's wingsuit or jetpack thing to take it to the next level next time.??! 😄
Absolutely love these videos, coming from a Moto trials background and now trying more MTB stuff out. I'd love to get to a point where I have bike control like this 👌🏼
I love trials, wonder if its worth getting into it at the age of 35. Maybe I should look for a used street trial bike, would love to learn all those skills.
Also, extremely underrated channel. Just discovered it and love the content. I guess when you can't go out and ride bikes, you stay inside and watch others do it on youtube.
I am debating getting a trial bike for over 20 years now..... one day.. it is quiet hard to find the bikes used though and the new ones are only sold in special shops and are quiet expensive just for trying it out and then putting it in the garage for eternity...

Would also be better with a single clamp fork!
