  • A nine days hike along the South Coast Track in Tasmania, Australia. We encountered excellent beaches, leeches, snakes, mud and spectacular scenery on our way from Melaleuca to Cockle Creek (via Louisa Bay).
This channel is about varied outdoor activities, adventures and nature scenes; paddling, boating, hiking, camping, photography etc. mostly in Finland and northern Scandinavia, but also elsewhere in the world.

Great video, I wish I had 4K camera on my trek

Snakes are deaf hence no response to your noise. A nice Tiger Snake specimen. Highly venomous and best left alone.

      Hi!
      Thanks for your comment :)
Yeah, I was stomping the ground before I started filming, as usually the snakes moved away when they felt our steps. But this one was reluctant to leave the nice sunny spot right in the middle of the path😅During our three weeks in Tasmania we saw 12 tiger snakes and one smaller, greenish one which I guess was a white-lipped snake? Also a lot of jack jumpers, and a couple of interesting spiders...

Love the video guys! How did you enjoy the backpacks would you recommend them? I am doing the hike in early April and considering doing a last min upgrade and getting one!

Hi and thanks for your comment! I personally do like the HMG backpacks, and I actually own and use multiple different models of them myself. But I understand that they are not for everyone as the adjustment possibilities are quite minimal, no load lifters etc. I would recommend testing one on a shorter hike first (with some extra weight perhaps) before a long trip if at all possible to see if it works for you. I wish you a nice trip in April:)

Good you made it to Louisa Bay as its a side trip. Bit hard to find running water as I recall. Special place. Nice video. Boggy sections haven't improved since my trip in 1976. 😁

Thanks for watching! Louisa Bay was indeed a very nice side trip:) We filled our water containers from a stream just after branching off from the main trail before heading further down towards the bay.

Lovely video, looks like you had beautiful weather. I'll be there in a month, hope some of those mud holes have dried up :)

Amazing video! (Except for the leech part 😱😉) What backpacks are you using? They look ultralight but also quite large. Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to do this track one day.

Thank you for your comment! Haha, luckily the leeches were not too much of a problem on the trail:)
We had backpacks from Hyperlite Mountain Gear, I think my friend has the 2400 or 3400 Southwest and mine is a special packrafting oriented model of the 4400 Windrider.
