  • In a world emerging from the Black Death, one ambitious priest faces the fury of a corrupt church as he struggles to maintain his integrity. Morningstar is a feature docudrama that tells the story of John Wycliffe, maybe the most influential Christian of the medieval world. Living 150 years before Martin Luther, John Wycliffe has been called the “Morning Star of the Reformation.”
Just as the planet Venus appears on the horizon just before dawn, so John Wycliffe appeared in Europe just before the reawakening of Christianity in the 16th century. Combining elements of both documentary and drama, this film aims to portray the gripping story of Wycliffe in a dynamic, cinematic manner while bringing his Christian insights to a broad, 21st-century audience.

The Reformed Church owes an unrepayble debt to this man, he started the beginning of the end of Church and State as one. Thank God!
Furthermore, Wycliffe Bible Translation is the largest translaters of the Bible, working over hundreds of years and, especially today in many people groups, to make available to each new convert in a foreign tongue, a copy of the Bible in his/her own language. What a legacy! Every true follower of if Christ should donate to this work.
God truly intervened in history as He has done again and again. I am happy to know that He was on the side of God and therefore God was on his side to the end.
The Catholic Church even today, has much to answer for but Peter, the great Apostle, revered by the Catholic Church, said "judgment must begin in the house of God..." And so it is happening in our day and a great shaking is underway...
The Day of the Lord is
near and the Catholic church should repent from idolatry or it may find itself hearing the dreadful words of the Judge, "depart from me. I never knew you."

5:37 Old Town Sq. in Prague. You can glipmse a sliver of John Huss (Jan Hus) statue. He was also University professor and was familiar with Wycliffe's work. His martyrdom started Hussite wars reformation and 100 years war. I wonder if it foreshadowing. :)

And Hus Was the for runner of Luther.
I wonder at the people who can read the Bible and defend the Catholic Church about anything.

I really enjoyed this film and learnt a great deal from it. It is rather sad to note that we still have a long way to go in making the whole Bible available in every language in 2024, but Wycliffe Bible Translators are still working hard on it and the pace is increasing so much with modern technology.

Very well done. Wonderful docudrama. I always wondered how we got over 38,000 different Protestant denominations. I see now that each of the the 38,000 denominations interprets the Bible differently. Mixing church with politics creates corruption, like 1300's Catholic, 20th Century TV Evangelicals, and 21st Century MAGA Christian Nationals.

It's Not 38,000 denominations All Christian churches are counted City by city Town by town state and countries and they add them all up by how many of individual churches by name so it's a false claim to say we have 38,000 different denominations.

Protestant churches in America aren’t murdering people for having different beliefs. John Rogers; the bloody tenets, the wheat and the tares, is the basis of separation of church and state. The church is not to use the sickle against heretics or non believers. It is for the angels at the end. You can go to a mega church or a community church, like I do. The beauty of salvation through Christ alone; sealed by the Holy Spirit; sons and daughters of the living. Jesus Christ paid it all and set us free to truly live for Him. The reformers gave Christ and the scripture back to peasants, fishermen and truck drivers like me. Amen 🙂🔥🔥🔥

I find it pretty shocking, though, that Wycliffe, still conducted a Mass soon before he died as why didn’t he understand how blasphemous that type of service is given that the purpose is to represent Christ, in an unbloody manner, for resacrifice when Scripture clearly teaches it was a once-for-all-time event. See Hebrews 9:27-28.

    • @adolphCat
      @adolphCat Před 8 měsíci +5

Maybe Wycliffe had a different understanding of the Mass than the one you have given. Such as believing that the Mass was not a resacrifice of Christ, but rather making the Sacrifice present in our time. This is in our day the usual understanding of the Mass, as given in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Christ in this view is not resacrificed in the Mass, but the Sacrifice of Christ 2000 years ago is brought into the here and now, in order that the Congregation may participate in the Sacrifice of Christ by offering their lives together with Christ on the Cross to the Father in and by the Power of the Holy Ghost.

Wycliffe lived in his generation. There was a millions of limitations from now. No one can think other than Roman Catholic. Only understand Wycliffe was a born again man and he fought for what he knows

@@alex.vgeorge125 Do you believe that the English people had no Historical Memory in the days of Wycliffe of the English Church before Archbishop St. Augustin of Canterbury, that is of the orginal English Church founded by St. Joseph of Airmathea. That is the English Church before she was absorbed by the Patriarchate of Rome and came under the Bishop of Rome. England received Christianity originally from Jerusalem not Rome, and the original Irish Church seems to have been quite influenced by Egyptian Coptic Christianity.

@samsdad It is not shocking and definitely not blasphemous.
It is called utraquism. I encourage you to type it in wiki.
Catholic priests accept the communion wine "blood" that was refused to laity.
      Which is considered against God.
It is all in the ballpark of "all humans are created equal... created in the image of God... take my flesh and eat... drink ye all of it".
Early Church shared both but in Wycliffe's time only the eucharist was shared. It must have been naturally viewed as conceited gatekeeping of the God and final salvation.
