‘When Two Became One’
This piece is trying to portray the process of two different individuals becoming one, the way in which we at times reject, at times accommodate, but ultimately embrace the quirks and personalities in those we love.
Compositionally, this is a further exploration of the harmonies used in ‘7 Preludes for Piano’, while trying to create opportunity for performers to improvise and participate in the composition. The solo section, somewhat like a cadenza, gives the performer a chance to improvise based off the motifs, further making each performance a unique and individual one.
