    Arnold and Rakestraw can tackle and cover, which are new abilities for Detroit Lion corners

      They should be president and vice president... they fixed the Lions in 3 years. They can fix anything... Holmes is a genius and Campbell is a leader... with very good coordinators. AG is salivating at the pieces he finally got.. They should be top 4 again.

    So glad you said "A good football player" Because that's what the Lions want, guys that can play. Screw the numbers and 40 time that only carries players so much and you can tell we didn't care about the stats very much by how much we ran trick plays and went for it on 4th down.. We really focused on Defense this draft and F/A especially in the secondary. Carlton Davis was a huge pickup as well like you said we just need guys in the room and I think we got a really good mix of young guys/vets that can help each other and get a lockdown defense this year and hope the offense picks up right where we left off last year.

    He didn’t run fast because of his groin injury. Playing speed. See branch critiques last year. Did he ever get burnt really?

  • @Steve_643
    @Steve_643 Před měsícem +2

    I think Rakestraw is faster than a 4.51 40. He had an injury at The Combine and I heard it slowed him down. I haven’t seen him get beat deep or have a problem staying on a WR’s hip. He’s not as smooth an athlete as Arnold but I think he’s more explosive. They both play with great technique in coverage and against the run I think The Lions Secondary is gonna be set for a while now. Arnold, Rake, Branch, Iffy Melinfonwu are all young Lions Defensive Backs on the rise. They could always move Branch to Safety and put Rake at Nickel, add another outside CB that can cover or keep Carlton Davis if he plays good. The nice thing right now 3 of the 5 player’s they have starting in the Secondary can play multiple positions that can be used as chess pieces to disguise the coverage and fill in if an injury happens. Arnold was a 5 star Safety in High School, Branch can play every position in the Secondary, and Iffy was drafted as a CB and now plays Safety. I think once Rake gets in the starting lineup he will be another DB that plays multiple positions playing Nickel and outside CB.

    Hard to question Brad Holmes. Detroit is blessed with the best GM in the NFL.

    He's played nickel at Lions rookie camp so far. And I agree, you can never have too much depth at CB. Corners are kinda like relief pitchers. Outside the elite guys, they tend to be volatile year to year.

    Reports say had a groin injury and didn’t run at 100%, if this is true 4.51 is actually extremely impressive

    I’ve been saying the only thing that worries me is total speed on the lions defensive backfield. Branch, Rakestraw, Joseph, and Arnold a little bit fell because of speed. Lot of 4.5 guys back there. These guys run about the same as Laporta and Campbell. Lot of burner receivers and especially big, fast receivers gave us trouble.

  • @tonym2513
    @tonym2513 Před měsícem +1

    He ran a 4.51 at the combine and wasn’t close to healthy. At his pro day he still wasn’t 100% but ran a 4.44.
    Nobody is running by him on the outside and Branch is the slot corner.

    I wish someone who cared enough would go back and find the guy who wanted Chop Robinson.
    Because Chop was a cool name.
    And Rakestraw was a “weird” name.
    That’s the real judge.

    Curb one’s enthusiasm as a 245 lb back will damage him. NFL, not for long. He will have to get bigger.

      @@davidmcpherson1347 I agree but eventually a knee going 18 mph will hit you in the head. Playing on a great team with pursuit helps.getting to RB or receiver before he gets momentum is key.
