We are finally putting the touches on my parent's guest bedroom makeover in today's video with ONLY thrifted and secondhand items. For this room, I was majorly inspired by a beautiful teal, blue-ish green-ish color and I’m going for a kind of a moody, Japandi inspired look to build out the color palette. That green paint color with the brass bed would have looked exactly like everyone’s bedrooms in the 1980s so cute how the trends return. brass beds will definitely make a come back.
Your mum just has to let you get into every room in this house. You will make them happy and of course us. Your parents seem to be kind a generous allowing to so many people to come in and stay. I hope we can meet them in the future. This room came out of a book. Just wowwwww. 👏👏👏👏👏Oh and I love when i see Brian taking up more projects. He is so funny. ❤❤❤
While watching this I wasnt sure a bed in the centre or a dark wall would work for a small room till the very final reveal.

It looks lovely! Two things I would have added would be a throw blanket in yellow and a small floating shelf for some books. It would be nice to have a few photo albums, and some books for the guests to read in the room. :) I loved how it all came together and that pipe wrap is such a great material.
First of all I’m so touched at how your parents have always accommodated relatives and friends, that reminds me to always do the same for mine as it is a great Asian trait. This is the first time I watch your clip and I’m really, really impressed at how transformational your makeover was! I would want to stay in the room, haha… Especially glad that your mom loves it, it’s important.😊

I've had the Beta Fish color in my basement for a few years now. I love it with the dark 80's (but nice) paneling and I have black closet doors and furniture with it as well and a wall with white and black wallpaper. Love it!

Looks great! So much to like! The pole wrap looks great, putting plants in that awkward window is perfect. Making the ‘80’s brass black, updated the bed so much. Whoever stays there, short-term or long, will feel the care taken to make the room cozy. Love it!

I made over my mom's kitchen last year, and also had to take down one of those wallpaper borders! I did it the same way, peel off the top layer, wet, & scrape. It took so much less time than I had feared it would, AND I actually got to just throw all the paper on the floor as I worked and I made my big brother sweep it all up when I was done and it was a really great moment for me lmao.
Was very skeptical of the dark teal and black, but turned out stunning - love it when risky visions make for beautiful spaces

Love the room makeover! That bed is definitely outdated. I had the daybed version in the early 90s as a pre-teen 😂😂😂 That said, I love that you kept the bed frame considering how expensive a new can cost. I love the color pallet in this room.
Oh Tina this room is so gorgeous, I loved watching this video, this room is looking so much like a hotel room, so cozy and restful. I really love that accent wall that wood on the bottom is so cool. and the placement of the bed and the tables and lamps on each side really looks so great, that standing lamp in the corner I really love and I actually have one myself and it gives me asian vibes for sure. I wasn't crazy about the paint color, but it looks amazing in the end! My room is also small, so I went from navy blue to white to make the space look larger. I love that you spray painted the bed frame because now it's like that popular black metal bed frame. I would update the sheets too and the mattress cover/protector. I'd probably get a larger rug but i really love these budget makeovers.

Looks so much better! I think the closet door trim should be painted the same colour as the door. The stark white really stands out and that’s not a feature of the room you need to highlight.

I love it. It feels very relaxing and beautiful in there. Like an expensive resort room. It almost felt like I was going to turn around and look at a wall with a mural of like cranes and white blossom tree with a lot of gold white and black.

rehanging the door so it opens out would allow more use of that wall. Personally I would have chosen the far right blue that you didn't consider because it seemed to reflect more light, a good thing in a basement room. Of course the colors look so different on camera, so what I'm seeing probably isn't what you see in real context. I do like the color you chose. I did also like the geometric colorful accent pillow; gave a little life to the monochrome room.
