    Vinny wanted to be heavier and louder than Carmine... well he did. In fact he became one of the heaviest and loudest drummers in the world. That's a dream come true right there.

    Carmine is a true pioneer. Realistic Rock is one of the greatest series of instructional material in the history of drumming. Fact. Carmine and Vinnie are treasures...pure talent and rock royalty.

    For the handful of Carmine haters in the chat... Get over yourselves. I had the pleasure of meeting Carmine a few years back and he was the nicest rocker I ever met. And he played the hell out of his drums that night.

      I agree 100% We had Carmine in for a drum clinic at my old work in a music store, and he was very gracious and friendly. Went out and had some dinner with him afterwards and it was a great hang. Very knowledgeable guy and has some fantastic stories. Great guy

      I hosted Carmine for a drum clinic the day Frank Zappa died. We were all upbeat setting up for the clinic cutting up with Carmine and our receptionist came in the auditorium and said “phone call for Mr. Appice.” Carmine walked out and we noticed that he’d been gone for a long time. I went to see where he was and from the moment I saw him, i knew something bad happened. Needless to say, he was very upset but when it came showtime, he performed perfectly as if nothing had happened. We’ve hosted a lot of drummers but my customers said that as far as educational, they got more out of Carmine’s clinic than any of them and we’ve had some heavyweights. Vinnie Appice, Greg Bisonnette, Rod Morgenstein, Bobby Rock, Mike Portnoy, just to name a few.

    Awesome story ... I'm coordinating a symphony orchestra to do a big concert with Vinny Appice and other Rock Legends in Temecula, CA on June 18th, 2016 ... As a drummer myself I've been following Carmine for many years and studied out of his lesson book for drum set ... great stuff. I'm honored to be working with Vinny in June. I enjoyed listening to Carmine talk about Vinny's early drum days.

    That was my age. 8. Sent to lessons at 12 til 16 by jazz instructor. I was so pissed. I had a slight ego until those lessons. I lost it. Realized life is a lesson forever. Sadly as good as I became after 27 years I missed my shot with being jail for dui when my uncle called setting up rehearsal for new drummer of 3 doors down in Biloxi MS...Clyde had a studio. Was my Uncle. He passed in 07. I didn't find out until he passed that it was Brad looking for me. I had played many shows with early 3 doors down in 90 ish. To 95. Met him more personal at holly house and would eventually find out they got signed. Went through katrina storm and lost everything. To this day I started playing guitar. I had been a single parent from 06 til 2018. Proudly!

    There are a number of interviews with both brothers where they discuss why they pronounce "Appice" differently. They both say that the correct pronunciation is "APP-ah-see", but they both say that Carmine changed it in the mid 1970's when he was playing with Rod Stewart because Rod always mispronounced it as "ah-PEACE" when introducing him & it stuck. Levon Helm had the same problem, as his real name is Lavon, but The Band members had trouble with it & called him Levon instead.

  • @ROCKGRINDER12
    @ROCKGRINDER12 Před rokem +1

    both brothers are just awesome rock drummers in my personal opinion, but Carmine had an advantage over Vinny, and it's that Carmine had already played psychedelic-progressive and hard rock n roll styles, his experience on these types of rock n roll sounds with Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, and Bogart-Beck- Appice band gave him ahead distance in the rock scenario; but again, Vinny is a hell of a drummer himself .......... with Black Sabbat and Dio in his background, I believe his status of a heavy metal drummer can hardly be put to question.
