His death was sad but the part that broke me was realizing Hugo would never get to live a normal life and the festival on the island was the last time seeing him truly happy.
The saddest part for me was Amicia holding on to the hope that she could save hugo, because if she lost hugo she has nobody left. You go through the whole game killing for hugo, doing everything to protect him, and then you have to be the one to kill him to save the world. Definitely the saddest ending to any game, but yeah seeing hugos mind slowly be consumed by the macula broke me
Saddest for me was the realization that Father, Mother, Arthur, Roderic, and more died…for nothing, all their sacrifices just for Hugo to die anyway

I believe the rats which were pulling away to give Amicia and Lucas entry way to Hugo was Hugo using the last of his willpower against the Macula to let them do what he knew needed to be done.

Absolutely correct! If you remember that once Amecia saw Hugo control the rats, she said to him "I didn't know you could do that" and his reply was "Yes! I can but it hurts".
Hugo used his last act to control the rats ruining the plague's plan and made a path for Amecia and Lucas all the while suffering in excruciating pain which allowed 2 things:
1. End the current plague for that current century
2. End Hugo's emotional and physical torment

This ending broke me, I had a feeling hugo was gonna have to die at the end and knew it was gonna break my heart if he did but having to do it myself just made it worse. Having said that it was an incredible game and an extremely high standard of writing. I wouldn't change a single thing about it. RIP Hugo.

I find it quite sad when Hugo mentions that he can't do anything anymore and relies on Amicia to finish it. Telling her that he loves her and it was time well spent. This was a really well developed story.
the Developers didn't make something usual about fantasy in the end, like a shadow of Hugo to says something better than that. this game is fantasy, Please don't make it like real...... i hate you Developers to make me so sad for bad ending. indeed
It's just a game of fantasy, and you make it like in real life, that most be something different, just look at AMICIA, she even can't die after she got shot on her stomach.
Charlotte McBurney's performance as Amicia in this game is just incredible.

The fact that Hugo is scared of the sea and its waves and that Amicia and Lucas, at the end of the game, have to "dive in" and face waves of rats. The fact that the ending tree in which Hugo is stuck is similar to the one from his dream. The fact that, in front of Hugo's grave, Amicia drops a flower and a feather, representing herself and Hugo...
That game was a masterpiece.
Hugo's grave IS his dream. The birds, the mountains, all present. The pendant has a big tree on it. Amecia's tears pooling at her feet. How her grieving is helping her to heal.

For me this was one of the most heartbreaking games I ever played. I had no idea that some people would be disappointed by the tragic ending. I cannot tell you the goosebumps I got when Amicia extinguished the brazier when trying to find Hugo and learning how to let go. At the end I couldn't kill Hugo and Lucas had to take the reins.
What? You wanna tell me that I didn’t have to do it myself! Oh, dear god.
This game was almost like an allegory to the real world sicknesses when parents spend a lot of money, sacrifice their own physical and mental health to help their sick child, but at the end sometimes a sickness can't be cured and parents have to learn to let their child go, even though they don't want it. That's why it was so emotional for me when Hugo died. I got so attached to him, that I felt like I lost my own little brother even though I haven't got one. There are thousands of parents out there in the world who in a way have to take the same road as Amicia to save their children but at the end all their efforts are in vain. Very tragic and meaningful story.

The times I fought with everyone and everything only to let it go at the end, and to accept some things are beyond your control. I'm sure we've all felt that at some point, and that all our efforts were in vain. But that's just life for you. In the end, it all boils down to letting go and saying your goodbyes.

He's the classic anti hero. Someone who was good, until something or someone badly wronged him (usually a close friend), that then trashed all his beliefs in the world. No longer able to trust anyone, other than himself, he only acts for himself. Rather than honourable & decent, he becomes self centered & self-serving.
Then, suddenly, once again, a turn of event sees the rug ripped out from under him, tripping him over & shaking him out of his lonely apathy. Slowly, he returns to the world & becomes the man he used to be. The real Arnaud. It's hard & he can be difficult to deal with, as he's readjusting, but his heart (if not his head) is in the right place.
And this time, he won't let anyone hurt those he holds dear, even if he doesn't say/show that's how he feels (although it would seem Hugo has an inkling & better understanding of Arnaud, than Arnaud does of himself). He will do anything to protect them. Include die, if it means saving them. And he does, his dying words not actually being what he means, but the subtext is obvious & clear as anything. Amecia doesn't need him to say it. She knows. That he thinks of her as the daughter he never had. And that Hugo is beyond lucky to have her as a sister.
God never thought something as sad as RDR2 ending would happen but boy this is absolutely soul destroying! RIP Sweet king hugo you will be remembered 😢

when i say my heart absolutely broke when i heard Hugo say “Goodbye” and “I love you so much”, i started screaming and crying. I love this series so much and the amount of time and love invested in the storyline + characters, I’m happy Hugo is at peace but this gameplay will forever hurt.

Amicia De Rune is now one of my favorite female characters of the modern day. Instead of the typical "Strong Female Character" crap that most writers do to make their protagonist perfect, without flaws and belittle every other character (Usually males) around them.
Amicia is the complete opposite and she feels like a real person, she's loving, caring, fun, and she cares about the people around her, while also at the same time having times of vulnerability. Shes terrified, had doubts about what she can do, makes mistakes and loses herself at times when things get really bloody. She lets other people tell her what her problems are and she does her best to fix them and rectify them.
Amicia feels like a real person and someone we should all strive to imitate. I love her as a character and the voice actress who played her delivered a heart wrenching performance. Love this game and i hope to see Amicia De Rune again:)❤
Agreed, I would say the same thing too. She is also my favourite. I like female characters who are unique, spirited and realistically experienced like Amicia or Aerith, Terra or Ripley (Aliens) instead of Mary Sue characters. Same goes to the Gary Stu characters too.

Seems he couldn't ask for anything better. Hugo was also the only person who seemed to care for anybody outside of his immediate circle, the only one with a moral compass so of course it's sad that he dies from the curse, but that's the ONLY good part of the ending.
I still dislike the ending, not because the it's tragic but because all we did was fight to save Hugo. Now the entire journey throughout the games and the millions of deaths meant nothing. They should've killed him as an infant and the world would be a much better place. Now and millions of people are dead and not just Hugo. Woopdie-fucking doo what a waste of lives and time.
The ending of this game made me cry for a solid 45 minutes and i couldn't contain myself at all. This game really hit home on valuing the ones you love. And to see Amicia go through hell and back time and time again to do what she could to keep her brother safe while at the same time losing her mother, father and the friends she made along the way only for her to in the end of it all put Hugo down herself even though she didn't want to...its heartbreaking and it really strikes the heart strings and the reality that you should value those closest to you because you don't know what will happen to them supposedly hours later. Love this game and I will never forget it.
This is the most tragic ending to any game I've played. Mostly because she had to kill hugo herself even after doing everything in her power to save him, and now she has nobody left. It's like trying to leave the ishimura in dead space but die from some explosion instead of actually leaving it.
Like why did i even had this journey? I did completely nothing, should've never even started it. Kratos failed to get to Jotunheim, Arthur didn't save John's family, guardians died and promise consumed the universe and so on. I think requiem would be so much better if they gave us happy ending.
@@sipdermun Exactly. It'd be as if Kratos and Atreus said" fuck it" after killing gods and marking themselves as enemies to Freya and Asgard. So they just went home to and lived like nothing had happened. If everything would be better if the journey never started, the entire journey becomes a big "fuck u" to the player.
In this case it's especially atrocious because we murder over a million people just to say "eh that didn't work, but at least we tried!"

Yeah, she’s going to try and delude the new carrier that things can be fixed even when she saw they can’t. Considering all the deaths for her selfishness and bloodlust at times, she lost her entire family, but she deserves worse.
I can only hope she is forgotten for the sake of the new carrier.
Definitely one of the saddest games I've ever played, but also one of the best. Not sure if I've ever had a game that hit me in the feels as hard as this one did.

The ending is very refreshing in a way that most other games don’t give however at the same time I hate it because that means the end of the road for Hugo, whom I loved so much :( good ending though.
For the first time I felt like the game I was playing was so good it didn’t need anymore story or sequel. I don’t think I could play another sequel if Hugo, Amicia, or Lucas wasn’t in it.
This ending is right on par with RDR2 ending for me. Both were very emotional for me and left me in tears, to the point where I had to just close the PC and lay down on my bed after the final credits. I must say, it was an awesome and very memorable adventure for me, starting with Innocence. The developers have progressed so much since Innocence and Requiem is definitely a gem that will be remembered as one of the best games ever made. I think Requiem deserves the GOTY title. I can't see any better game this year that would surpass the awesomeness of this one.

Never played RDR2 or TLOU, but I did play The Walking Dead, and this is mercy-killing Duck all over again. Duck was the first time I actually had to pause a game because it hit my emotions this hard.
RDR2 leaves you with a lesson and a new perception about life. This game leaves you with a hole in your heart.
41:00 she took a while looking at the little chair because it reminded her of Hugo 😭 Beatrice used to say they have the house on the mountain and they’d live like a family there after everything had settled down, so she must bought that chair for Hugo before. The chair with the same size for him, only meant for him, now is all in vain 😭😭😭 (and the fact that she put that little chair next to the tree trunk, her favorite place to watch a pretty view ahead, was to imagine Hugo sat next to her)

The ending ruined me the first time but I’ve already been playing requiem again and it’s actually a little more enjoyable already knowing what happens. Less anxiety and stress lol. Plus now that I know killing guards doesn’t affect the ending I can go wild.
I won't replay this games again because the ending made this story pointless. For 2 games straight we did everything for Hugo to survive just to kill him anyway. Why would i even do it if it all doesn't matter at all?
Most people hate ending for not being happy. And to be honest this shows greatness of this game. A Plague Tale series has kept its tragic charm. There were moments when you think that everything would be alright and Amicia with Hugo is going to be together forever. But look to the truth. Makula has no cure. No special treatment. That fancy Order dedicating itself to study the plague failed the world and was going to make the same mistakes again and cause another catastrophe. Embarrassing but we have what we have. There was no other way. You couldn't predict what's going to be next with time bomb in Hugo's blood. All in all, game showed only one hard but mature decision to get things right...

@@nikhil0021 Idk. Both main heroes have lost their home, dad. Society sees in them only monsters. All their journey isn't one big adventure but survival. And environment in the first game is mostly grim and tragic. That farm, battlefield, catacombs, town in the end... Even in the end when they've saved the world from mad inquisitor they are still monsters for the people. Not heroes. So story maybe is not as tragic as the second game but mood is definitely equal or close. Anyway, this is IMHO

What you said is very wrong, while the rat-controlling ability is fictional, it is relatable to those who are suffering from different mental disorders. Yes, they are a ticking timebomb and can snap at anytime. Mental illness has no cure, like the Makula, but it doesn't give you the right to kill them just because.
And I wouldn't say the Order has failed, they built a fortress to contain their first carrier, Basilius, and they have succeed. While it was a mess, they did stopped the end of the world from coming, otherwise, none of this game would have ever happened. This corresponds to the dark times when mental illness patients are treated horribly in asylums. Being experimented on like lab rats, shock therapy, surgerical removal to parts of the brain.
What Amicia is trying to do is find another way, and she did - Hugo needs love and see all the goods of the world. It is only when he encounters bad people that he started his rat-fenzy. In fact, that's what SAVED the world, his last remaining goodness guiding Amelica to end him. That corresponds to the present day, we start to understand mental illness more and more. Combining modern medicine and therapy, those mental patients can lead to a normal life.
I'm frankly disappointed at your view, saying this is a hard but mature decision to get things right. You're wrong. Amicia is right, all Hugo needs is love to heal, it's only all the evils and opportunists and even the normal people, like you and I, driven purely by fear and unknown, in the world that stray him from the healing path.
Just few games in my life managed to wake strong emotions in me like this game. And I will remember it for the rest of my life.
Sheesh, what an ending. Don't know yet if the idea of a present day setting is a good or bad thing. But nevertheless, a great conclusion to Amicias and Hugos Story arc

I think a hard core rat invasion during our days would be a hell of a setting. It would start in a modern city, cars, hospitals etc and as the story would go on everything would collapse and the conclusion could be a new middle age.

@@ramasubramanian1132 you should watch the dialogue of Amicia after that. She and her friends (including Lucas) will depart to a new place. She said Lucas is somewhere in the town, doing some things before going. So no worries.
I was so happy that Lucas survived! And they're still fighting the good fight! I can't wait to see/hear about more of their adventures together, wherever they may eventually go when they reunite.

Though I'm curious if she'd be personally involved outside of transportation, and funding with her money from her business. She might not be as into going into the deep dark rat filled places as Lucas and Amicia are.
@@cade11071994 Actually, she is part of their inner circle after befriended them so they keep themselves in secrets as part of their secret league. She is a resourceful and cunning pirate and smuggler. She has connections in the outside world. So they needed her. Thats a good thing. Now in the next sequel possibly. Started centuries later in the modern era, it is also possible that their descendants might take the league to find the next Macula carrier in order to prevent history repeat itself. Its gonna be more like a vigilante or an Assassin's creed like thing. Maybe. All we have to do is to wait for now.

@@noamias4897 the whole point of this game is Amicia coming to terms with Hugo not only wanting to die, but needing too. So it's very in character for her to put him down when there was literally no other option but to do so. What isn't in character is her letting someone else do it. Also, even in the ending where she's "mad" at him, she somehow sounds MORE mad that he's left. Even in the good ending she doesn't sound happy that he's not there, just understanding that he needs to go study for a time.

Poor Amicia. I know she's a fictional character but dayum... Seeing her be torn apart, body mind and soul for hours upon ours in hopes of completing what is a simple, noble, and relatable, but ultimately futile goal is heartwrenching. and this Requiem drives it home beautifully. Even the cover art, where you see her determined, yet pained and emaciated face, guarding her brother's ghostlike one is a work of art on it's own.
Tbh tragic ending sometimes is a great way to end a story, i loved this ending and it hit me so hard and i think it fits the tragic tone of the story despite how happy they seemed sometimes the dark and tragic moments is what makes this game so special.

i felt like there is going to be a 3rd sequel, from the very last clip we see a new born 'carrier' and from tht we know it comes with a 'protector', and it may lead to amicia's trying to lead and help those two getting into the right path and together they'll find a way to end this 'macula' completely. And from my theory, its going to b a reincarnation of Hugo as it the same as Basilius the first carrier. Since both of the carrier and protector passed away in 16th century, but in Amicia's case only the carrier died and a year after tht we see a new born carrier. SO lets just hope tht te protector would still be amicia and the new born carrier is just the reincarnation of Hugo. This is a desperate theory i know, but i hope it would catch the developers eyes to bring Hugo back to live.
and from what we've seen of the gameplay where they saw the body of the previous carrier and protector, you might noticed tht the two bodies are different, where basilius's still intact with all of his original state, (flesh, skin, face, expression) while Aelia the protector only left her armor n wht should a dead ancient body looked like (only skulls/bones). And we can say history repeats the same way for them but the only different is that the current protector which is Amicia live n only the carrier died. In order for the macula gets to live and conquer the sun is for the protector died and sucks the life out of the carriers soul untill it had nothing left to take. That might explain why a body of 16th century still intact in one piece as he just recently died a year or two before hugo was born and the so called "Justinian Plague" caused by basilius. And i believe the macula wanted to brought back that Plague again by being reborn in Hugo's blood but it got stop by amicia the protector who the macula probably did not predict would live at the end. SO in order to not break that history timeline where the protector should've been dead for the macula to create a whole new permanent plague again, im guessing hugo's going to be reincarnated into a newborn baby since the macula failed to take over their timeline where he should've been reborn and make a new similar plague like The Justinian plague. Because if there's two protector standing by the new carrier's side is going to b really hard for the macula to try and take over the world again. SO IM GUESSING THAT PROBABLY THE MACULA HAS ITS WAY TO REVIVE HUGO AND PUTS HIM IN A NEWBORN BABY., BECAUSE IF NOT THEN IT'S GOING TO HAVE TO FACE TWO SKILLED PROTECTOR AND THAT GOES AGAINST HIS RULE WHERE HE NEEDS TO TAKE OVER AMICIA'S TIMELINE TO SECURE HIS POWER
This was a disappointment to me both story and gameplay-wise. I'm bummed that Hugo died. It's sad, but bittersweet because he is redeemed and free from his curse. Seems he couldn't ask for anything better. Hugo was also the only person who seemed to care for anybody outside of his immediate circle, the only one with a moral compass so of course it's sad that he dies from the curse, but that's the ONLY good part of the ending.
I still dislike the ending, not because the it's tragic but because all we did was fight to save Hugo. Now the entire journey throughout the games and the millions of deaths meant nothing. They should've killed him as an infant and the world would be a much better place. Now and millions of people are dead and not just Hugo. Woopdie-fucking doo what a waste of lives and time.

I started bawling when I finally realized what was the only thing that could happen. You know when Hugo told Amicia you know what to do and all that... Couldn't stop crying after that realization. I was clinging on to a dumb hope that maybe something could have been done to save him before Hugo told Amicia that :( but at least he will not suffer anymore!

Doesn’t matter why she did what she did. The results are what matters in the end. And Amicia is responsible for the exact thing she hated that was done to her. In the end, Vitalis was right. I’ll miss the Amicia in innocence. But this one is a monster and nothing more.
I don't cry at many games' endings, but God, this one had me crying for about half an hour.

There are other histories with tragic endings, but this is not just that. Everything in this game was gradually ruinned until there was anything more to lose, and the worst part is they (and us) were constantly renewing their hopes only to have it crushed again. It's a roller coaster where every fall goes further and further down. Also, Amicia surviving and having to live with it forever just makes it harder. Saddest game i've played and surely one of the best.
Great video mate, This game was something else which also had me crying at the end too. I'm a father to a son who reminded me alot of Hugo. The raw pain stuck with me for over 24 hours as though I actually lost someone I knew. And still a week later I feel the impact. The whole game was building towards a cure for Hugo when in the end it was fruitless, I was hoping this wasn't the case all the way to the bitter end.
They really hit the hammer on the head with the relationship between Hugo and Amicia. The innocence and childlike behavior really made Hugo a living character who I could relate too. His curiosity and love of the world around him really had me emotionally invested in him and to his success at a second chance of life.
With regards to the direction of the next game (if there is a next game) It would be amazing if somehow the next generation of carrier and protector where reincarnations of Hugo and Amicia, and during the game play hints opened them to their past life's (including Basil) where they failed in the past and the generational link that bonds them, and somehow in this life they actually manage to find a cure and have a happy life that they so longed for and deserved. So it wasn't all for nothing but a repeating pattern until the Macula was defeated.
Please DEV's give me an ending to help heal the pain.
This ending absolutely broke me and I never thought a video game could. Sure I've teared up some games but this game had me close to just sobbing.
When you're winding up your sling and the credits roll, I just broke. Realizing you're visiting his grave did the same.
The ending would not have been the same had the studio not followed through on Hugo telling Alicia what she had to do at the end.

That poor, sweet little boy 😥 It broke me to see Hugo attached to the Nebula and fully given himself to the Macula. The look on his face that was once filled with joy and life that was now filled with suffering and with a soulless expression. When it came time, I had Amicia do it instead of Lucas (since I didn't know he could but it's better that she did it). It's what Hugo wanted. We couldn't just leave him there. He had long accepted his fate before the end was near and he was okay with ending it all before the Macula took him. But Amicia, Lucas, Beatrice, Arnaud, Sophia, and everyone who protected him weren't ready to accept that yet. Neither did we, but deep down we were already fearing the worst. Hugo may not have cared anymore what were to happen to him, but everyone around him did. And we damn sure did too. That was very brave and mature for a young child like Hugo to accept that his death would mean the safety of the world. May you rest in peace, kind little king ❤

After finishing thsi game. the ending was truly tragic. It definitely put some tears in my eyes. It was harsh to see Hugo go like that. But it definitely wrote a epic tale that I will alwasy remember. I definitely recommend anyone to play this game. This story did the characters a well told one. Hugo will be missed. Especially when I saw the very fist carrier the 1st time and how he was chained up. Hugo was pretty much imprisoned the same way.

Just finished it.......man oh man did I hate that ending. This is one of the few games where I actually wanted a cheesy happily ever after because of how invested I was in Amica and Hugo. This game was a hell of a journey.

My guess for the next Plague Tale:
-Modern times (obviously)
-The Macula will take on a new form, probably inspired by COVID
-You won't be playing Amicia but a distant descendant of the De Rune family
-There could be callbacks to Amicia and Hugo

Never has a game got me so caught up and having a young daughter and two sons made it even more emotional. I was screaming, hollaring and crying throughout the last several chapters. Amicia reminds me of Joan of Arc. Both young girls from France compelled by otherworldly events and visions that lead them to become warriors despite not knowing anything about combat or war.
This is the most heartbreaking ending to any game I've played. If the actress for Amicia doesn't sweep the awards for best performance I'm starting a riot
I didn't like the ending, or the game in general, but I can recognize that Amicia's actress without a doubt delivered an awesome performance, even better than she did with the original. Unless God of War Ragnarok has a stellar performance (I am hearing Thor's actor is awesome) I really, really hope she gets the award.
@@noamias4897 he’d have to be an exceptional actor. The scene just after Hugo kills the counts wife, where Amecia simply falls to her knees and fights for the courage to keep going on was some of the most powerful acting I’ve seen on any media not just gaming. Phenomenal actress.

Kinda, 50% yes and 50% no. Ellie wasn't the one who was ill, she wasn't spreading it and didn't start it all, plus there was no confirmation that the cure would work or that killing her would magically heal the world, so her death could be in vain. Here the setting is more fantasy-focused and we have confirmation. Also if there's another game I would also add it would be Hellblade, not exactly the same and I don't wanna spoil, but it has some very similar themes too 😉 I wonder if A Plague Tale devs played it.

Only three games have ever made me cry like a baby. This one, The Walking Dead (telltale season 1) and The Last of Us Part 2. Most games you inevitably save the princess, save the world, etc etc. But games like these show how, just as in life, sometimes the people you love can never be saved no matter how hard you try. RIP Hugo. RIP Dad.

Maybe it's a Covid reference in the real world. There was another reference where Amicia and Hugo find some materials from China and they say something like "Do you think they have it too? The rats?", "Maybe, maybe not YET." hinting new diseases to come.

As a younger brother to my older sister i can say Hugo is kinda like me when i needed my sister the most. Then the way Amicia treated Hugo in the first game is pretty accurate how my big sis and me in a relationship does during our childhood, you know the beginning of big sis jealousy over the younger sibling. But as we both grew up, know each other well and goes through that hardship we both starts to look after one another and cares with each other (even though she's already married).
Then playing this game and finished it, it's really heartbreaking and sends rain in my eyes and i wish i could hug my annoying big sis as well. But i know we both already an adult so hugging her and crying over this game probably going to confuse her lol. But either way, i'm glad this game brings something new to a story about siblings relationship and yes it goes as same with Basilic and Aelia backstorys.
@The Quiver There's some speculation in the game's lore that Basilius is a direct/potential ancestors of the De Rune's family (Amicia actually hint/said that). During the first game, some of the soldiers or a priest said something about the Macula was awaken for many centuries old and the Prima Macula only passes through bloodline which we called it The Carrier.
So i have a theory it's either Robert or Beatrice is one of the descendants of Basilius but no doubt it is confirmed Amicia and Hugo was also have the Macula or we called it Carrier. However, Amicia macula doesn't activated or we could say in dormancy state(you can check out on wiki how many stages the Macula have). Think of it like Amicia's Macula is fully inactive. But somehow Hugo in an unfortunate event at his age activate/awaken it. That's why when you play the first game the bad soldiers tries to find and capture Hugo because they know either Robert or Beatrice is the carrier.
It's highly possible Beatrice is the descendant of Basilius though since she knows about the Order and the Macula unlike Robert.
Edited : Yes it is also a curse or the first corruption. Whatever the origin of it is still unknown. We only knew Basilius is the first carrier but how he got it remain mystery. We just gotta wait the sequel to tell more of the story

Amicia was protective of Hugo since the start. A LITTLE jealousy early on, but it dissipated quickly and was replaced by total protectiveness to the extent that she'd give her life for him.
Just finished it today. Very emotional game. Sadness, Anger, Frustration, Doom, a very dark game. But its done in a way that you have to see more. Defitnitely should be a contender for game of the year. But will wait till Callisto Protocol drops. We got a good month of games coming up, great time to be a PC, Ps5, Xbox series gamer. This game set a very high bar graphically, and story wise.

Okay, I never understood the way this game handles "tragedy" maybe I'm heartless, but ever since we found out Hugo is the cause and the macula is what is summoning the rats, my constant thought was "Sacrifice him." While this is horrible and you can say "He is just a child" imagine all the men, women, children, animals etc that Hugo has killed by just being there too long. In the game, he literally destroys ENTIRE CITIES worth of people and we are told to feel bad for him. It suck and is tragic, but at the end of the day the life of one for millions.
Not only that, but if he was allowed to keep living, it only would get worse and worse and worse. The plague doesn't go away until the carrier dies by the look of it, so killing any macula carrier at the start of the symptoms would be the safest thing. Probably going to get down voted to high heaven, but just... think about it. Imagine if a kid came to your town with your family there, would you be sympathetic as you see your mother, father or children being torn apart by rats because of this kid?
I would try and help him initially, but if I saw the absolute devastation he wrought, I would side with the order at that stage.
I hope that people can see the viewpoint I have without thinking me heartless!
What could be cool for a 3rd installment, would be grown up Alicia and Lucas, helping the new bearer of the macula and leaving clues for the future. And seeing the modern day's bearer and protector following the clues of Amicia. But like side by side. 1 chapter amicia and 1 chapter modern day.

Intrigued to see where they take this if there is a 3rd game. I enjoyed the game and the ending but I'm a little 50/50 on whether I'd like to see another. If there really is no cure and the next game follows new characters and a new carrier of the Macula, what could the point be if we already know they're going to have to die anyway? And I can't say I'm really that interested in a game with just Amicia leaving messages for the future carrier and protector, I think that would be better as a DLC for requiem. On the other hand if a new game is set in the future with the advancements of technologies and medicine etc then perhaps a cure will be available, but will it be as gripping as these 2 games having to get used to new characters and naturally comparing them to Amicia and Hugo, aswell as the setting no longer being so medieval? Guess we'll have to wait and see!
it isn't about whether there was a cure or not. Let's consider maybe a cure wasnt required at all. The mistakes that people in authority made in both cases (Basilius and Hugo) is that they pushed these little kids to the edge, separated them from their protector and made them hopeless so the kids lost control and gave themselves up to the macula. Perhaps the only remedy was (as Amicia mentions throughout) was a quiet and peaceful life, at least until the boy was of age to control himself. But things kept getting bad and Amicia pushing Hugo deeper and deeper into the island didn't help his case.
There is cute actually do you remember about island in Hugo s dream there is a cure I think and next game we will see it I think and I hope because the game is very good
I got emotional a lot from video game endings like horizon zero dawn, death stranding. But this is something different, the whole game feel so real. The dialogue perfectly bring out the characters pain and the conflicts within them. I simply felt my heart is broken.
The only time Mah boy Hugo find peace was in death, RIP King Hugo!
