It happened to me recently..I was parked in a well lit area...in front of cameras...it was heart breaking because I had to pick up my granddaughter...these people don't or can't understand people don't have much as it is why are they causing unnecessary suffering for those who are just barely making it ....it's not only frustrating but it's just painful...and there seems to be no one to help!
I guess I'm just not understanding how the people that are buying these aren't being cracked down on. There's no possible way anybody in that business doesn't know that they're buying a stolen converter. What possible reason would somebody have a converter to sell other than it being stolen?? You stop this kind of crime by going to these dealers, arresting them and putting them in prison.
Wouldn't have this problem if you caught and killed all the thieves but why solve a problem in America when America can do what it always does with its problems which is ignore it.
Out of rows of cars parked in my neighborhood, my sister’s Honda Accord was targeted. Started the car this morning and it sounded so loud then we figured the cat was cut last night.
I park about the same distance,maybe a little more from manhattan. Happened to me two weeks ago. Honda accord 07. Weirdest thing about it was….there was an 06 civic broken down across the street for the past week (no neighbors across the street-one side of the block is houses, the other is a sports feild complex with a parking lot) also, there was also a 2011 honda pilot in the driveway where my accord obviously was. Why go for the accord that was older and needed to be jacked up, instead of the newer honda pilot, which doesnt even need to be jacked up to get under it unless your name is shaquille o’neal
Just call the plumber cut it out and solder copper pipe 2" and then put it back for emission check. State don't do much to protect the consumer, thus f**k smog check. This is only revenue for the state. My cat was stolen last night. Do you have any idea how I feel when paying $1,500 for what. Only to comply to the state emission test. What about my kids.
Or just tune your vehicle, a catalytic converter is an outdated emissions restriction. You can go to any tuner and tell them to hook up the car for emissions and boom it will pass and you saved yourself the trouble, you'll still have to do yearly emissions check cause of other issues but that problem is gone.

I park my vehicles outside unlocked in a poorly lit area that is 62 miles from center city Philadelphia. Nobody ever stole my catalytic converter.
