- A tokelauan song sung by the Fakaofo kauhiva at the recent Tournament held in Nukunonu 2013.
I don't know who composed this song but it's one of my favourite out of the Fakaofo songs. Hope you Enjoy it ..
"te tama kaulelei na kitea ite vai.." - Hudba
I am a Wallisian futunian ♥ ️ but my last name (NOFONOFO) comes from Tokelau🇹🇰🇼🇫!
Malo ni bro.
❤
Malo ni, Merry Christmas
There's always a build up in toke dances...starts of slow and smoothe and ends energetic and loud🙌🏼🔥
Te tama kaulelei na kitea i te vai
Te hologa fetu kikila mamao haloa kua gogoto
Fakavae tokelau i tana aganuku ma na talitonuga
E holomio ko he tokelau gali e [e olatia].
Tu au ite tia, te tia e manaia
Fili tiale hoku fau, he fau e fakafafine
O ifo hopo ki te puke.
Tu au ite tia, te tia e manaia
Fili tiale hoku fau, he fau e fakatagata
O ifo hopo ki te vaka.

Beautifull song. thanks for sharing, 2 tokelau girls join teachers training college in Rarotonga cook islands back in the 70's name Samakia Manaseli and Mesepa Atoni, but Mesepa went back and Samakia stayed and married to Ngatoko

Anyway, I love their performance and how the feel the spirit of their performance throughout actions and songs. We call this in Tonga " māfana".
This is beautiful wish our Tokelau 🇹🇰 culture was recognised and celebrated in my daughter school. However it isn’t. I hope to one day visit Nukunonu this is where my Grandpa and great grandfather come from. Last name Luka if anyone knows of the last name drop a comment below would love ❤️ to connect with my Whanau from there.

The name of my cat is Tokelau in honor of this amazing place ❤🐱
Tbh their language sounds like Samoan and Tongan combined. I'm samoan
Lawrence Schuster yep that’s true most Tokelauans in Tokelau can speak Samoan and could also just make out all other Polynesian language.
T Falani Remember we are all connected
Where one link of a chain ends and another begins
We would laugh when grandma would watch the Samoan and Tongan program cause she would really be chillin 😎 hahaha
Tbh just graaaaap your muli
Malie, aloha from Hawaii.
Love toke dances.
Seti T's
The meaning of the word Tokelau in Tongan is "North" & Tonga means "South". Which in all context relatively to Tonga is true.
Anyway, I would love someone to translate the song but as any Polynesian language I'm sure I'll be able to understand as they are very similar to each other.
+Kylieleon in Aotearoa, our youngest Polynesian country, Te Maori also refers to North as Tai Tokerau and South as Tai Tonga. From what I have read this is linked back to our Polynesian ancestral home of Savai'i/'Avaiki/Havai'i/Hawaiki. Savai'i/Avaiki/Havai'i refers to a sacred departure point to the netherworld i.e. departure to new lands. In Samoa, the North wind/breeze is Savili To'elau, the Southern wind/breeze is Savili Toga. Malo aupito
ītū i Tonga is south in sāmoan
In Tokelau, Toga is both the wind from the south and the direction south Tokelau is also the wind and the direction from north🇹🇰🇹🇴
Olosega reppin HARD from the 808
its like a Tuvaluan fatele..meaning traditional dance....and also our language is kida like the same....if I'm right please do reply thanks, because I also would like to know more about Tokelau since my Great grandma is from there too
Yes you're right. They are similar.
yeh pretty sure our dances were originally derived from tuvalu. :)
Very similar. I think you folks actually pronounce the letter “F” as it sounds and Tokelauan pronounces the Letter “F” as an H sound. If I’m not mistaken I could be wrong. However, all Polynesian or pacific island cultures are so similar. But Tuvaluan is probably the most similar I think 🙈 don’t quote me if I’m wrong. 🙈 but both cultures so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Tuvalu was apart of tokelau. Our language is the same, that is why our fatele’s are the similar
My great great grandfather is Foua Laumea Panapa come from tokelau Fakaofo and a king of Fakaofo the man of magic and miracles

Fakaofo to the oti ❤❤❤
tokelau has a mix clothing of samoan/tongan if yall look deep in your history yall would find out
Kitara Tago find out what? Tokelau is its own
We Polynesians are all similar in clothing because of the limited resources. But our clothing today is western and made in China lol The grass skirts are only worn for cultural practice.
Back in the old days Samoans would dance naked. It wasn't untill missionaries came along and started making our people cover up
Petersrocky@yahoo.com
@@onelove1081997 Uhhh no. all polynesians had some type of clothing. we didn't cover all, but we definitely weren't ass naked
Love it
