- Lindsey Stirling has been playing the violin for 19 years with a range that extends from classical and to rock and roll. Through her electrifying playing, she stands for the fact that you don't have to conform to be accepted; the greatest value comes from loving and accepting yourself for who you are.

The woman in the arena. ❤❤❤ Love this performance. It is simple yet incredibly beautiful - pared down to essence. Beethoven said that hitting every note was not the goal of music. The goal was to make music with passion. Yes.
She is a Amazing Talented Girl, her music is just outstanding & it opens new dimension in music history... Do anybody Knows that she has over 3 Million (3,087,880) Subscribers OVER 400 Million (408,444,723) views in her channel??? & over 1 Million (1,317,740) likes in Facebook ???? She is already at the top of the world... So she is not asking for a "Record Contract" & this performance could have a errors because it's the only proof she is still a human... I love her performance so much :)
It’s not a big deal in saying she’s better now. This is an old performance, she’s had tons of practice and she’s perfected her technique since then. For her skill level at that time she was just getting into the heat of things, so back then this performance was great. She’s amazing now.
Plus if she doesn't make mistakes in performance, is she really playing? Remember that old quote from Beethoven, to play or miss a note is inconsequential but to play without passion, is inexcusable!
She's gotten so much better and that's beautiful
her live performances have improved so much.
+Jacob Haynes I know
I saw her live from balcony center 2015 & 2016. Erie, PA concert at the Warner Theatre was nearly flawless. It is a shame no one recorded it. At least I got a chance to record "Angels We Have Heard On High" and "Hallelujah" from second row at her first 2017 "Warmer In The Winter" Christmas concert at the Palace Theatre. What a blessed pleasure it was meeting her too. ~
She is a great example of persistence; striving toward perfection and masteries through continued practice and successfully achieving it. Leading by example.
That's because her live shows now that their mainstream are prerecorded. What she does in her live shows now is basically like lipsinging
No. she has become a better violinist. Have been to two concerts in the last few years. They are not pre-recorded and she does makes mistakes. Last time I saw her, her shoulder rest came off her violin and she had to stop playing until she had readjusted her shoulder rest. You can hear a huge difference between pre-recorded music and a live performance.
I can't imagine how bad the mix was in her monitors/IEM's. You can tell, right off the bat she's like, "Fuck, my violin is way too hot and I can't hear my backing track." Like someone was saying... It's a TED event and on their set up with a sound-guy who wasn't hired necessarily for musical performances.
To all of you guys who are saying this was really bad, just take in the fact that this was 5 years ago, and she is now REALLY good, and a lot of people's favorite, so all haters just take in that fact, and know that she is really good now, and has improved a lot.
I was depressed and when I saw this video, it put so much energy in me. Thanks Lindsey
AMEN SHE BRINGS OUT DIVINE MUSIC FROM HER DIVINE HEART
I wish people would realize this was over 5 years ago. This was just the beginning for her. She has gotten much better. Like many people have said, playing the violin in general is hard. But then to add dancing to it and to still sound good takes a lot of talent. Lindsey has it all. So everyone please, before judging her off of this performance, go look at her more recent performances.
>just the beginning
She had been playing for over a decade by then. ZERO excuse to be this bad given that much time
So many people pointing she wasn't so good at the time this video was recorded! You are missing the point. She is far better today, and this is because she was capable of playing at stage even when she didn't master both dancing and play at the same time. She challenged herself and that's why you can see a huge difference between this performance and her current ones.
Instead of pointing the obvious you should try to follow her example. Just saying
The woman in the arena ...
Lindsey *....* she is beaultiful !
Wow, she's gotten a lot better since then.
Thd violin was out of tune. She undoubtedly has improved since then, but she was never this bad. You can look at old videos on her channel and see that she was still pretty good at her act. If you've ever listened to a violin when it's tuned vs unturned, you'd understand the difference that can be made.
Kailee Walden oh, thanks for telling me that! Why wouldn't she have just tuned it beforehand tho? I obviously don't play, so I wouldn't know :)
+swim4scofield It was out of tune, but still good.
She just moonwalked while playing like a friggin BOSS.
it's cool kinda to see how she has grown from this to having albums and her own tour
Lindsey has so much talent. Lindsey, if you're reading these comments, ignore the haters. You rock!
To dance around and still be able to hit most of the notes of decently complicated songs on a violin is nearly impossible, and she makes it look like she could go on for hours. 0_o I applaud your greatness, Lindsey.
have ever felt to hear some music that your body wants to move or dance to the music rite? she's evolved greatly in this regard
I'm a simple girl.
I see Lindsey Stirling
I click.
Sheez! All these comments from people who can't dance or play the violin! Or both! I'm one of dem-dose Peeples. And,
I enjoy all your videos! Forget about dose peeple who don't count. Keep them coming for the whole world of the rest of us. You give kids something to aspire er transcend to.
+Sussana Lee Okay, first, thanks on behalf of Lindsey for being supportive, but second, that's not how you use "transcend".
What about * those * * people * who can't spell?
XD I play the violin, I think this is awesome! It's sooo hard for me to shift into third position(higher on violin) and then play properly while doing do, I'm not fast enough either!
Lol in all fairness Lindsey can't dance either.
IVomitOrgasms true
And that's what TED is about. "Ideas worth sharing"!
Those who say she wasn’t that good make sure you can do better before opening your big mouth, because I’m a violinist and I know how hard playing violin is not to forget she was dancing. By the way make sure you know one note on an instrument before talking about a master musician.
CZcams - I want to give Lindsey MORE than one Thumbs up. Please fix it so that I can.
Lindsey - I would Love to see you teamup with "2Cellos" ! But no matter what, Please keep playing!
It is just so incredible to see the growth of a soul through their passion and art! Lindsey has as a person and an artist reached greatness level by level! Have felt sso privileged to see her great journey!
I've seen Lindsey live and she was fantastic! Much better than she is here
Jesus, I couldn't even think about playing Transcendence live, it's so freaking hard. I could tell she was a little bit behind on some of the faster notes, but, dude, do you know how hard it is to play THAT FAST and still have correct intonation? Not to mention while dancing?! She's still amazing
That would be really cool and probably boost awareness of her, but one of the best parts about lindsey is that everything she's done was all her own because no one thought she would make it. :)
I love her foot work … this is really fun!
I actually like this more than the official music video
Sometimes live music is rough and raw and sounds so wonderful.
This is actually Electric Daisy Violin and Transcendence. Please correct the title :)
actually, the motto of her speech is to transcend above you struggles. that's why it's called transcend. the more you know.
Cereal For Me thank u
Me gusta mucho Lindsey. She's great!
little magical elf dancing love her.
That was only 5 years ago.. Lindsey is so much better now ;o
Eოἶlყ Sհმղ just realized.. oh wow
to me it doesn't matter on how she sounds but it is what she expresses to other people that is the greatest of all. But Lindsey is really great and this coming from a fellow violinist. :)
its true it is very hard to play at the same time as dancing so some wrong notes are to be expected but the fact she kept going and didnt let her stop her shows a true artist
Even though it wasn't too good, you should focus on how much she is inspiring us to transcend and how hard she worked on this preformance. She is a human just like the rest of us, and we all have one thing in common: we are not perfect.
You've improved so much in the last 5 yrs! You're amazing! I love you. Thank you for sharing your gift.
Mairead Nesbitt dances and plays violin, too. And she NEVER misses a note in her live concerts.
@PaladinIldela agreed, I've noticed that on some of her live performances she does not do the same dance routine, probably to minimize the movement to enhance the sound quality while giving the viewer something new to watch :) Either way she is still amazing!
Can people realize this was posted in 2012? I'm getting a headache from the comments.
You need to be honest. Even though it is from a few years ago, it still is bad. She really is good, but this is bad.
Rainicorn758 Lol. Ya
@luckyerim And she still isn't THAT good. She can play, but her technique is lacking in many aspects. Notably her intonation and bow control are all over the place
She's gotten way better at performing live now that she's toured and done close to a hundred shows.
Love her dancing skills
i can do this after a few beers
Titan Army I wish you top comment
Titan Army LOL
Titan Army that's true and absolutely funny
And when you fail and end up on AFV I'll gladly watch
I love her songs and dancing. This as one of her earlier performances before she became really good, but it's still million times better than I could do it since I can't even play the violin nor gather the courage to perform in front of a crowd of people.
People be saying this horrible.
At least she's playing better than me 😂
In all honesty, this sounded awesome!!
I like this version very much- her other ones make me want to jump up and dance - but in this key / pitch i am taken a back and relaxed, meditative and still alive.. i like it!
you're right, I was just listening and I was thinking ??!! then I went back and saw her reaction to the first.
i love how you design these dances to tie into the music. just spectacular, great job Lindsey:)
Live music is AWESOME!!!
Okay okay maybe not her best spotless performance but it's impossible to be amazing 100% of the time.
I don't know if she had enough rosin on her bow or what happened. She can perform live- no matter how many people there are in the crowd. (there are videos of her performing live on her page and it sounds perfect). I'm not sure if she let someone else tune her violin or if she forgot her rosin, but she kept a smile on her face the whole time! That's why I love her. What an inspiration she is!
They're still able to do something that a normal violin player can't easily learn.. They're still super talented even if they don't do "ballet" or "pop" and also deserve some respect at what they can.
She's amazing!!! ♥
She reminds me of Laurretta Summerscales
She's just too amazing. 😊
I listen to this person on Pandora and I love her
The fact that she is moving while playing the violin is incredibly difficult in itself. Yes she's missed some notes but look at her performance holistically.
So proud of how far she has come!
This is why I listen to Martine Kraft now... Because Martine Kraft rarely ever messes up. Like EVER
I love her music but I have to say this performance was bad. Like, really, _really_ bad. She didn't properly hit almost half the notes, and some parts were definitely off-beat. Well, at least this way you know it wasn't playback...
She was more unexperienced live back then, also being nervous has something to with it. She plays flawlessly today
Playing the Violin and dancing at the same time. i think it is not easy,to hit all the Notes. :D
Kevin Meier But now she does :D
Kevin Knipping true dat. :D
+Thundercunt McGeezax I think she couldn't hear her back track very well, there was something wrong with the sound I know that...
If you see her at one of her own performances she sounds much better.
she needs more fans!!!!she is ewally amazing!!
Can people stop commenting about how her performance was bad! This was in 2012! Not 2016!
She has improved A LOT! I know that! But again, 2012!
First song is Electric Daisy Violin and the second is Transcendence. While everyone wants to complain about how awful this performance was i want to say I loved every second of it. I love Lindsey's perfect imperfections.
The passion and love for the music and performance that's what were seeing here
Poor Lindsey, I thought she was about to burst into tears at any point =(
Deep passion for her work!!! :)
This is actually really nice!
Imo, this older performance was good sound wise, especially on an untuned violin, I would only suggest larger bow movement though she was dancing so I understand why she wasn't able to xD I love Lindsey so much ;; she inspired me to start playing and Ive come so far in only 2 years ;; Lindsey is sucha great player ;;
WHOOOO GO LINDSEY!
Perfect and dazzling !
Long Live USA!
I'm glad to see how much she's grown since then ^^ and yeah there's a lot of mistakes. Maybe she was nervous or it could be her dancing but she has definitely progressed from this time period and that's what makes me proud to call myself a Stirlinglite (I prob spelled it wrong)
She is great!
noooooossa muito lindo vocÊ da umshow... amei...
I love Lindsey so much!! YOUR AWESOME!!!😘😘😘😘😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️
in her videos she doesn't actually play while she dances. she first records the audio in a studio and then does the choreography that happens in the video
she's amazing....
Awesome..
IM LITERALLY WAYCHING DIS IN 2017!
There was clearly some technical issues there but as a fan I knew the intsant her bow moved that it was Electric Daisy......my favorite tune is Spontaneous Me though
Massive Awesomeness!
now that I know the background of the song I even like it more.
May i asking whats the name of music she play?
Even though this wasn't a perfect performance, we know she can do this live without a doubt.
The songs are "Electric Daisy" and "Transcendence", right?
This is actually harder than it looks.. I tried.. LOL
BRAVO!!!
Awesome!
Waaaoow! Es la mejor
Was I not clear? It obviously is live, the violin is mis-tuned, and she's trying to correct for it, live, in real-time. That is very difficult to do.
Playing in front of plenty of people is something she is perfectly capable of. Something was wrong beforehand.
Simplemente la mejor de todas!!:3 LindseyStirling!!!!n_n
Here is someone with great talent and moral, someone who knows how to put it to good use.
But there's also two violinists who were also brothers in America's got Talent in 2008, and they did a pretty amazing performance. One of them also did a backbend without missing a single note. Just search "Amazing violin" and then click the "Amazing violin on Americas got talent 2008" and then you'll see what I mean. I'm just saying that Lindsey isn't the only talented violinist who dances while playing, I'm trying to give credit to all the other amazing violinists who also deserve to be known.
something seems different, but it's still good lindsey ^^ u look sad or not ur usual happy that we see u in ^^ keep on going lindsey we love u ^^
Lin...classy act.
she needs to do irish dance with irish dances at the back during her performance right? it will be awesome
***** You are great actually, even some people hates you. But this's great things that i can see ever in my life.. i appriciate your work, and all your performance. You are doing and you always do that, keep your courage, never stop, moving forward and touch many peoples heart.
Did she write those songs herself???
Tu es vraiment phénomenale ,toujours aussi sublime.
This is excellent but what song is it
And now look at where she is today - performing in sold out theaters around the whole world.
