Just use the walleye, it’s less of a chore to aim

People always forgot that yes the A-4 is an attacker, but is still used by private companies as aggressor aircraft today for the USAF and Navy because it has an almost unrivaled roll rate and turn rate (while yes being a little under powered with it's engine). Against 50's and 60's sub sonics the thing is a beast in a dogfight imo.
That's why it fought f14s and other planes in the top gun training program
The later variants have much better engines, an example is the Israeli A-4N in game. But IRL the US had similarly advanced versions, too

@@xdgiih766 that means less range and a heavier weight which would probably limit the ordnance it could carry, therefore defeating the point of it being a subsonic light attack aircraft.

The RWR going off, when somebody nearby is being locked is a real phenomenon. The effect is called sidelobe effect. Especially old rwr that do not distinct signals by their strength very well are susceptible to it
Using the TV camera as a dollar store targeting pod is a 500 IQ play.
It's just too bad that I suck at using MCLOS missiles.

The right settings help a lot for MCLOS, I think i might have copied Hunter's control settings for them at some point. Immediately went from not being able to use them at all to being able to target which part of the tank i want to hit.

It would destroy the point of it being a subsonic light attack aircraft because of the increased weight and lower range/higher fuel consumption
@@Pikachugamer-2007 I don’t think you really understand how jet engines work. Adding afterburners isn’t some ginormous, complex addition to an engine. The added weight is insignificant. And sure, there would be increase fuel consumption, but that’s why pilots only use it when needed. During daytime missions, pilots would hit the afterburners coming off target for increased speed and decrease chances of being hit by AAA.
Yea the A4 is really fun but the A4N at 9.3 in the Israeli tree is even more fun since there are no night battles to worry about. 2x AGM TV bombs, 3x AGM Mavericks AND 2 Shrafir 2s.
Israel has such a strong 9.3 lineup it’s insane.
If the "end of the line" vehicles not have a massiv amount of RP needed to spade these tanks it would be even better.. (Magach 7C and Machbet)
My lineup is Ayjit(A4N), Merkava 2D, Gal Batash, Magach 7C the Machbet and that 9.0 heli . It’s super fun 💪🤙
5:20 yeah that is working completely as intended, your RWR doesn't discriminate between hostile and friendly when getting pings or locks, it just lets you know you are being targeted

@@Hunter_i86 yeah I know that, but you where close enough that the radiation from the radar was also hitting your jet, that is a real thing that happens
If only this were still true… now you can’t know that a friendly is sending sarh’s or ARH’s (in STT) at you until it’s too late.

Just realized there's custom loadouts now. Been blowing up tanks with 5x Bullpup loadouts and no zoom for 2000 hours.
If only the bullpups and nords were still usable like this, now with the update it got even harder
I didn't feel so much difference when tested Bullpup after La Royale, still effective.
I think the main issue is the graphical change to the smoke trail left behind makes it very difficult to see the missile after launch.
@@Deus1929 That's correct, it is harder to see the missile now, with no TV sight launch it at 2km target, but with TV sight you can still launch it from 10km.
Man Nords have been trash for a while now, I've hit tanks directly on the roof and not done any significant damage more times than i can count. At least bullpups delete everything they touch

i thought that the freindlies locking enemy aircraft giving you rwr warning is realistic as the radar pings are painting your aircraft as well making it think as if you are locked too

I prefer the Israeli ones, esp the A-4N but also the E. They are so good paired up with the awesome M60 platforms.
Yeah, that's up to preference .. I didn't say this plane is the best, I said it is the most fun because guiding Bullpup manually is more fun than Maverick, I mean more satisfying, to me at least.
@@Hunter_i86 actually I prefer the Walleye ER. The missiles are so difficult to use. I don't have many flightHrs and practice such as you (it shows in your use of the bullpup). The Walleye are a guaranteed kill mostly and sometimes even multiple targets. (Strangely... I almost never hit with the GBU8)

There is nothing more satisfying than hitting Bullpup shots manually from 6km away. Granted the other day i hit an IT-1 directly twice and they did nothing.
I just wish and hope they give USA a premium A-4 variant for CAS at some point. We have nothing good around that BR

Ok but what about the A10A’s they, suffer and have broken damage models compared to the SU25 variants. What about their BRs? They are simply based of the fire power but we all know your not going to be armed to the teeth in either Air RB or Ground RB. You’ll just get tossed around for being slow and an easy target. What will happen though when the A10C comes out? Probably the same treatment. I think the SU39 is fine where it’s at. It clearly the best CAS in the game and beats everything else in its role. The real serious thing that should be said is War Thunder needs different variety of game modes to suit it plethora of over 2000 different vehicles. It’s the same games mode day in and day out for the most part. Trying to do any CAS , with a plane dedicated for that role in a game mode won off of Air dominance like Air RB/SB is a death trap.
Unfortunately the MCLOS missiles are a lot harder to guide now because of the new missile trail effects. It completely obscures the view of the missile.
Yeah, launch it at 2km with no TV sight .. and with TV you can still guide it to a 10km target.

That issue with you getting an rwr warning when a friendly is locking someone is very common in high tier air rb (from my experience) and its incredibly annoying. Especially when youre in the middle of a large dogfight where theres many friendlies and enemies, and you cant tell if your rwr warnings is actually an enemy locking you or not.
I believe it's the TWS (Track While Scan) from friendly/enemy jets that ping you while scanning. Typically mostly used by F-14s, but I've started using it on the MiG-29.
I played a half and hour battle in air sim EC .. literally the entire battle RWR didn't shut up.
I don’t think it’s a bug since the radar searches close to the enemy aircraft when locked and you might be in that cone if you’re close to that enemy or behind it

It is technically possible but hard. Strela's 9M37M can be flared like normal missiles, the tricky part however is making them see the flare in the first place as it only has a 0.5 degree fov once locked. So from the rear aspect and front aspect it can be flared more easily, from the side aspect it nearly is unflareable, especially at closer ranges.
Stingers, and other manpads similar to it, have the exact same problem as mentioned before with an extra way to ignore flares. So when it sees a flare, instead of tracking it, it just ignores it and continues flying using inertial tracking (it flies to the predicted path you'll be at) until the flare leaves its FOV, at which point it resumes tracking you. So the trick with missiles with "ECCM" (though it should be called IRCCM) is to dump a lot of flares to make sure the missile guides on inertial tracking while changing direction and then pray that the missile doesn't reacquire you after. It just requires a ton of flares to exploit this weakness, which most planes might not have enough of to do this more than once.

Could you try Mirage f1c200 CAS ( i think the radar was buffed bc sometimes even after getting chaff the radar lock was on the plane)
Chaff is useless since ages lol, now flares work great against IRST lock though.
@@Hunter_i86 Well for the mirage was chaff its biggest enemy cuz they just chaffed 1 time and my radar lock was off but now its great sometimes its still locks onto chaff but my missle just goes after the plane lol
