best designed hybrid ever
Maybe exterior design but the actual hybrid design is a pretty inferior system. Why would they use a mid displacement four cylinder as a generator and only run on ev battery. Was the 1.5T not powerful enough to generate the ev power and be more efficient?
@@Hallowsaw Atkinson engines are generally developed for hybrid systems. Turbo engines are not usable in it.
Where are all of the buyers coming from that can afford the average ($45,000) cost of a new car, in 2023?
The low end Civic is $25,000(ish) and after tax, interest, destination, and fees it’s over $30k. The American Dream is almost earning enough to buy a car, not a house.
Best bet these days is to buy a leased model . I never want to waste my money on a new car . Total waste of money vs a leased model . With 36 k pick one up for 16 k
I've been keeping my eye on this car and watching the reviews from the UK. One reviewer just drove locally in villages around his home at an average of 30 to 40 mph and managed 89 mpg because his gas engine almost never engaged. The other reviews I saw were all getting 49 to 56 mpg.
80 MPG is literelly possible with that car. Just not everybody is used to with driving these hybrids. You need to accelerate when you need and just let it cruise when you need to slow down and break. I drive the 2010 Civic Hybrid I used to get 30MPG when I first took it but Now I can pull 45 - 50 mpg on the Highway. And they even gave regenarative paddles. I know I can pull way more MPG's with the current civic. You gotta just get to know the car. Trust me!
In the 90s and 2000s I've always said a loaded hatch is what we want. Back then all we got was stripped down hatches. While Europeans got the good stuff. Thx Honda for finally listening, since gen x civics.
I am beyond happy. I have a 2015 Civic HYBRID that I have been holding onto. Will be getting the new one. I love my Honda Civic Hybrid. The gas mileage is AMAZING
I have an Insight, which was so affordable for a hybrid. This seems like it will be a significantly higher price point.
I liked the Honda Insight to bad I wasn’t in the market at the time. Now I am and waiting for inventories and pricing to normalize.
Exciting! Wish it would come sooner, and with that pano roof.
If you step on over to the options on the UK site, they do in fact have several more wheel options than we have in the US and many more interior and exterior accessories. The Select trim has Adaptive Beam matrix headlights, recently made legal in the USA as of Feb 2022, hence the clear corner lights, and gloss black door pillars like the Type R.
I really like the new Civic e:HEV here in Australia 0-60ks soooo quick within like 3-5 seconds
Toyota already go Hybrid in all their model line. No surprise Honda do the same. Honda has been doing Hybrid for a long time too. Euro and China already has 11th gen Hybrid Civic. It has more power and great short trip MPG.
I’ve been looking for new info about this every day for like two months now
Can’t wait for this car and more content like this!!
Its already September 8th and no word on the civic hybrid.
You guys are good at making reviews too.
Hr-v needs to be in Hybrid version as well !!!! Hopefully they will bring out
Definitely since Hyundai won’t bring the Kona hybrid to the US again but there’s a lot of demand for it
HR-V needs it SO badly not just for better MPG, but because it can’t get out of its own way. It’s dangerously slow and unsafe for American highways where you will be run over by 18-wheelers if you can’t accelerate from ramps.
I love it✨🏁
Awesome!! cant wait!!!
If I can get a loaded, touring trim, hybrid sedan for about 32-ish thousand dollars, sign me up. And if the stars really align, the exact same 204HP powerplant from the Accord hybrid. Dare to dream, right? Then again, Honda's tagline used to be "The Power Of Dreams".
Me too! Where is the sign up sheet at! Although I doubt that it will be 204HP. That’s Accord territory. Unless they release 220-230 hp accord hybrid thereafter
hatch boys we up rn
It's September 19th and no word on a 2024 Civic Hybrid so far.
We already bought him.
Same in a white colour with panorama.
So panorama model is Advance model in Europe.
We have also classic one Elegance model and sporty model which is Sport model.
Car is amazing.
No gears. Only one gear.
And yea you are right on the badge front and rear is blue colour around.
It is very low consumption car.
My average is around 4.5 l/100km - 5-5 l/ 100km mixed.
For best performance your battery needs to be full.
So with full battery is around 5s to 100km/h.
Honda has withdrawn the Civic E:HEV from sale and it is no longer even in showrooms because it has a 9-12 month backlog of orders (including mine from Sept. 2022). My delivery date has now slipped to Sept. 2023!
Love the civic hatchback in advance trim, courteous about pricing. The new Acura Integra A-spec w tech package might be the better choice will see . Good review
But is that Acura a hybrid?
What really would be nice is if Honda brought back the Fit and added the Fit Hybrid...but why do something that makes sense, right? We can't have a vehicle that's too fuel efficient.
That’s awesome
sooo excited for it, i’ve been waiting for a while to buy it!! hopefully it’s available around september/october this year
Right?! 🙏🏻
The Insight is AWESOME!!! I own the '22, and it even looks sleeker than the Civic. Was always under-appreciated. I'm getting 54 mpg on average, no complaints at all!
yes
Will we be able to get this car in Boost Blue?
I have a 22 Boost Blue Civic and I would love to trade it in for a boost blue hybrid
great video- any recent announcements on this? when do you think it will be hitting American market?
Considering that Honda still has not said anything officially, we are thinking an early 2024 launch. Thank you!
Is it available in philippines?
If the lose the pano roof auto fold side mirrors and rear ac ducts for the USA model then I’ll pass my as well get the sport touring which gets decent mpg
I’ve been debating on getting one now, or waiting for the 24 HEV model. I would like to see the Panoramic sunroof to come over to the states, and that is one of the things I would be willing to wait on.
However, you mentioned we shouldn’t get our hopes up for that here in the states.
What do you think the chances are that it comes with the Pano roof?
Extremely low, like 5%. Honda doesn't offer panoramic moonroofs on even their more expensive products like Cr-V and Accord
Honda REALLY needs a Hybrid powertrain in their large platform vehicles. The new Pilot is only rated for 19/25, that doesn't cut it anymore. If Honda made a Hybrid that is a "beefed up" version of what the CIvic has it would be great.
7 passenger Hybrid. That be cool!!
They can't procure enough batteries.
Some people don't want a hybrid SUV. They are heavier and it makes towing suck.
hybrid is a dumb idea. Dragging around 2 powertrains eats away at any efficiencies gained by going electric. They absolutely shouldn't do the same thing in larger vehicles.
they don't sell the SI in the UK =((( so we only have the hybrid or the Type R!
Billy Joel do a review on a Honda Civic Hybrid can you compared to the Toyota Corolla hybrid
My first new car (eighth overall) is a 2022 Insight but it’s going to take a lot to keep me out of a Civic Hybrid hatchback.
I also own a '22 Insight... Great car! After a ton of research, the ONLY vehicle I will opt out for is the Civic Hatchback Hybrid.
We need the pano roof available in the usa for the civic
The civic there costs a lot more, but I do think Honda needs to put it in accords and CR-Vs here at least
Great car
I want the Honda Accord Coupe. lol
This will be better than the Prius for daily use. Prius is small inside.
Any prediction on actual release date for civic hybrid 2024? Thanks.
Honda hasn't said anything official yet. We are hoping it'll be this fall
Wow!
6:15 Studs.
Manual Transmision would be great !
@@IanB-uy1wh I know that, I Said " Would be great with a Manual "
@@IanB-uy1wh Could be Great because it's Honda behind. But I was just throwing that on the air I know is not happening either...
noticed they got black trim instead of chrome
And it’s only hybrid right? No plug-in? So it would compete with the Corolla hybrid and not the new Prius plug-in.
US gallon is smaller than Imperial gallon
3.78 l vs 4.546 l
They should just tune down the Accord system to 195 hp - 230 lb/ft torque
What happened to Passport, Pilot hybrids?
No word yet but definitely hoping to see them in the next couple years!
Quite interesting!
Do you think Honda is going to discontinue manual transmission on their hatchback?
Not for a while! Honda is more committed to manuals than pretty much any other brand
I think honda is a little late to the game. The should’ve been has a civic hybrid. Considering the accord and crv has had one for quite some time now. And hopefully it comes in a sedan version because a lot of people seem to prefer the sedan over the hatchback apparently. I haven’t seen many hatchback civics.
They made the Insight, which was a hybrid re-bodied 10th gen Civic. The US hatchback was introduced later than the sedan by 6 months, and they have been in short supply due to chip shortages.
Euro Spec features that you can’t get on a U.S. Civic, Heated Steering Wheel, Pano Glass Roof and Gloss Black Window Pillar Trim.
I ordered and installed my own Type-R gloss pillar garnishes. It was a pain tho. Canada has heated steering wheel and other unfair upgrades.
Do we have a confirmed release date for US markets?
Honda still hasn't said officially when the release will be. It's looking like it might be early next year at this point
@@CarConfections thanks for letting me know! I was in the market for a hybrid, thought this would release fall this year.
Any updates on when Honda may release the hybrid civic? On their site it says this summer? Do you think people will be able to purchase this summer / fall?
In a few weeks, we should be checking one out. At that time, Honda should also provide us with more details about pricing and availability so stay tuned 👍
@@CarConfections awesome will stay tuned, thanks for excellent content!

Do we know where the Civic hybrid will be manufactured?
I believe it will be produced in Ohio alongside the traditional gas models
Hatchback!? The problem is the civic hybrid in Europe is only 50mpg which equates to roughly 42 mpg in the US...
Prius is rated 60mpg in Europe and 52 in the US. And the cost with the civic hybrid.... in Europe the top trim is 36k euros... thats just shy of 40k here in the US. No way can they charge that much here. The crv hybrid is 39k already. They have to keep this under 33k to challenge the prius.
or even challenge the Corolla Hybrid SE
The insight was BETTER than a Civic. it's quality was in between Civic and Accord with a Civic price (until the markups). If the price is right then it may be interesting. Otherwise I'm not paying for an overpriced civic that the dealers are marking up to boot.
Can the hybrid be spec with a manual transmission?
No
@@CarConfections CR-Z?
Good competition for the new Toyota Prius.
Honda civic sports hybrid 2024??
I thought about it too when I saw the accords trims, that's why I will buy the last gasoline civic before they all go hybrids. Shame on Honda. Maybe I will buy the next generation mazda3.
Base civics are 24-25K now. A hybrid system would cost another 2K because Honda knows there will be crazy demand. At 26-27K, I'd rather get the Prius. Only downside with the prius is the tighter rear seats
It’s supposed to look different I thought in 2025. They showed a picture of it..
Finally a good looking hybrid hatchback inside and out. I hate the interior of the 2023 prius. Outside is good but inside looks like garbage
Sorry I’m late!
Sounds like a complicated engine. Will this be reliable?
Civic hybrid
Almost £34,000 that is steep.
Honda wants Americans to buy the Acura to enjoy all the global features.
They need to add AWD to this
No they don’t
Issue is Honda puts a tiny 1kwh batteries which needs to be at least 10kwh so engine doesn’t run as often and this will boost the fuel economy higher
Sub-200 horses is gonna be a deal breaker for me 😒
200hp hybrid in a top trim is going to overlap with the Integra’s price-point too much in the US.
@@xp50player and honestly its sad that you could even compare the civic to the integra
I seriously think they are just having competitions to see who can shoot theirselves in the feet more
I do not care.
Hybrids age poorly. Older hybrids simply do not maintain resale value like older non-hybrids.
Watch this civic get a crz hybrid engine 🤡
Hybrids are the "not best" of both worlds. The entire idea is dumb
You can think that while (on my '22 Insight), I get 54 mpg and 12k between oil changes, and looks much better than the Civic.
