I remember that well. I was working the highways as a state trooper...we had cars & trucks stranded everywhere....and it just kept on snowing & blowing.

Got stuck working a double shift due to no relief. Got home the next morning and shoveled and ran the snowblower til noon, took a nap and back at it again for a couple more hours and then back to work for a midnight shift. I remember when I closed my eyes for a nap I could still see the image of snow blowing around.

The Halloween blizzard debacle was part of a 50 year span of five Novembers with at least 20 inches of snow the Novembers were 1940 (Armistice Day Blizzard), 1947, 1983 and 1985 like Dr. Mark Seeley in 2003 saying in Mpls-St. Paul magazine that there are 50 year spans of wet and dry cycles in an article about how wacky the weather is.

I can't believe I can remember this. I've asked all my friends and nobody knows what I'm talking about. I was 1 year 11 months old. I couldn't believe how tall the snow was. I remember jumping in the snow and disappearing.

I was in southern MN where it was more ice than snow, and on the farm we were without power for almost 3 days. There was between 4-6” of ice everywhere. I’ll not soon forget it.

I lived in south minneapolis and on a snow emergency route and got to work like usual. Got to work and there were only three of us. The CEO was there and thanked us for coming in. He even said we would get an extra day of vacation for our dedication to getting to work which was in downtown. We never got it the extra day off. All lies. 😑🙄

I was scheduled to be in a wedding in Minneapolis that night. I lived a hundred miles away at the time. It was only rain and ice where I lived, so I hit the road. Took me four hours to get to the Twin Cities, and I ended up walking the aisle alone because my partner couldn't make it! Parking was a drag because there were thirty inches of snow, but the wedding was a blast!

We took are kids to the school in Mora for Halloween. We came out it was snowing like mad. I got up to go to work the next morning at Freddie's restaurant. We didn't open for a couple of days.

I remember the snowfall totals being wildly inaccurate. We had almost 3 feet in southern Minnesota and the weather people said we had like 8 inches.

Drove work truck friday and Saturday. stuck twice ( only ) lol
Going across open roads the drifts over the windshield. The truck would be slowed down to almost a stop then fortunately an open spot to speed up again. It was like driving a 10' boat across a lake with large waves

I was in a house in Finland MN. Up at the airbase. After three days.of not getting out of my house. I heard the snowplow go by. Pushed out of one door dug up on top of it and pushed my skis out before me so I wouldn't sink into the snow ,crawled on top on them and got out to the plowed road across my front yard. Cabinn fever!

The cops on 3 wheelers running intersections on lynndale was pretty crazy . Thank you , lovely ms. flood for the storm documentary 👍

30 years ago already. Swear my back is still sore from that shoveling and hours of snowblowing.
Wet feet to the ankles from the wet slush while taking kids around the block. Left car on the street, pooped, would move it later. Didn’t. Dug out two days later.
Every hour weather over the radio - “we expect a couple more inches before this stops”.
Local radars were blinded by amount of snow falling that they didn’t pick up the training nature of the system. It would continue building as it passes over.

The Halloween blizzard was embarrassing because as recent as the third week of January 1982 because of two 17 inch snowstorms like Greg Ortell of the visitors bureau in 2000 saying that about the work stoppage of the hotel workers coinciding with the AA convention because it was in 1991 when the convention was booked.
