your work is a total revelation. as an MFA student i did a great deal of sculpture and have recently discovered the world of polymer clay. i have done a few canes and am totally blown away by your process. i've got some study and work to do. you have obviously endured some serious cane pain getting to this point. my hope is i can learn from you and avoid some of it. Thanks a million for sharing.
thanks for getting back with me. I use to have a little 3 d animation business so the mellefiori process is immediately compelling. you have a remarkable ability to see 3 d on the fly while dealing with all that mass of clay. awe inspiring indeed. discovering polymer clay was a revelation in and of itself. your work has expanded the possibilities for me. thank you so very much for sharing.
No doubt on the "cane pain", I will probably have premature arthritis because of it. But I love making canes, and feel they make my sculpture what they are. I am glad to see when people can learn from my videos, and pick up an amazing medium.
Inspired by so many things in your work - form, scale, patterning and symbols/icons used in your cane work. Polymer clay is once again taken to another level. It's sooo great that you post your approach, helps us with all the "how??" questions as we admire your pieces. While I can see the influence of Jon Anderson I completely disagree (comment posted earlier) that your work is like Jon Anderson's. More like you've created a new path. Thanks so much for sharing.
Wow, that project must have taken you weeks to complete, and you did two at the same time! Are the foxes baked in an oven once they're covered in polymer.clay cane slices? I think the foxes came out looking absolutely amazing! And so very beautiful. The eyes made them seem almost alive. You are very gifted. God bless you and all those you love. Have a great day!
