Kari Tapio (born Kari Tapani Jalkanen, November 22 1945 in Suonenjoki, Finland) is a Finnish schlager-singer. He has been one of the most popular singers in Finland for decades.
Ville Hermanni Valo (born November 22, 1976), is a singer, songwriter, and frontman of the Finnish rock band HIM. Valo was also the drummer for the Daniel Lioneye project. Ville has a baritone vocal range. - Hudba
Ville really can sing everything....from rock to folk songs....very talented. His voice sounds beautiful here, but Kari sounds good, too.
Makes me feel proud, strong, and even more passionate about my Suomi heritage.
The text is originally a children's poem by Juhana Fredrik Granlund from 1863. Here an excellent translation by Keith Bosley (from the anthology Skating on the Sea, Poetry from Finland, Bloodaxe Books, 1997):
Here under the North Star
is our earthly home,
but beyond the stars lies
that to which we come.
Here like flowers we have but
little time to go:
there life will be endless
as the angels know.

Omg, Ville could have been a fantastic opera singer! Listening this song I couldn't stop imagine him singing "The Leiermann" by Schubert! His voice has nothing to envy to Dietrich Dieskau!

That's your opinion. It seems that you're from Finland (like me) so maybe you're biased :). I actually think the finnish language is more beautiful in a song than otherwise. It can be a bit clumsy in general but in songs its okay.
