- It's my FIRST TIME IN DUMAGUETE!
Exploring this very cool capital of Negros Oriental, and of course nearby Valencia and Dauin, was great. I really love the vibe here.
And Harold, of Harold's Mansion, joined me! He guided me for my first ever dive - which was cool eventually!
Before this, I headed up to Valencia, a cool highland town, and drove through the sulfur vents - they are literally below the road!

Glad you are now in Dumaguete and tried diving in Dauin. That’s where Finn Snow lives, his house is next to the beach. Hope you’ll meet him again and dive with him one of these days. He has a yacht coming for diving enthusiasts. Try diving with him one time and be surprised to see critters how beautiful they are but you need to stay for more days to train, equalize your buoyancy and other things. Finn and his friend Justin with the crew can give you that. Enjoy your tour in Negros, beautiful drone shots always ❤️
Beautiful underwater footage! I can see why you want to go back diving again. If you don't watch out, you may end up like Finn Snow diving all the time. The ride to Dumaguete was spectacular also!
I missed Dumaguete. We went there first time in 1990 and fell in love with the place. The people are very welcoming and the place is awesome and beautiful. The boulevard near the ocean overlooking Cebu is one of the most beautiful place to hang-out. Visited Siliman University, a sister school of my alma mater Central Philippine University and it has one of the best university campus i've seen in the Philippines. We went for snorkling in one of the Siliman University beaches and were surprised there are so many beautiful corals around. There are also many affluent students from Mindanao studying in SIliman Univeristy. I really wish I can visit Dumaguete again one day.
For the first time I am actually in the place you are featuring, VALENCIA!! Very cool! This place, like so many others in the Philippines, has transformative powers. 3 weeks and I feel like a totally different person. I have been a Divemaster since 1987, keep at it...the Philippines has the best diving in the world! It is a huge part of the Philippines that too many people miss out on. Your videography skills would be amazing underwater. You have a great eye. Next time don't worry about getting the shot. Just relax and the equalization will be much easier. Anxiety makes you positively buoyant. So chill brother and enjoy the ride. Thanks for everything you do, it is greatly appreciated.

Your Vlogs are great, Paul the old dog CZcamsr lives right by the Japonese gardens, And you are diving in Kulas's Fighter Brother's back yard ( Finn Snow). Finn vlogged the sulfer mountain but sorry, your video and drone of it was fantastic. I've seen it twice on vloggs and know the road but again your vlog is superb. Amping pirme . Oh i was going to Dm you and tell you that you look like you are loosing weight. Good on yah mate.
The Celts are invading Dumaguete---just need a shared woad tattoo. Great first diving attempt and underwater footage. The power of nature in the sulphur gas fields is spectacular. Pity the road prevented you from getting to the Japanese shrine. I met a group of teachers from Dumaguete on my flight back home to California, last week. It was their first ever flight! The life of an OFW…. Best wishes to them. They’re going to teach in three different states, in the South. What a beautiful place they’re from!
To become more comfortable in the water with SCUBA gear I would suggest you first just swim with mask, fins and snorkel. The biggest difference in terms of technique versus swimming without gear is that you don’t use your arms for propulsion and wearing fins want to try to keep your legs straight and use a scissors kick hinging at the hips not bending legs at the knees. When free diving below the surface the easy way to clear the snorkel on the way up isn’t to blow hard after surfacing but instead just look up on the way up so top of snorkel is tipped downward and just exhale enough to displace the water out of the snorkel before reaching the surface.

This mountainous place is wonderful. I have been to Dumaguete before but did know about this pristine beauty. It can be a tourist attraction in the province just like in Taiwan's Thermal Valley. Thanks to Kumander D for showing this to the world.

7:49 the other day it land slide here, the road is covered with boulders and muds
So thats Harold haha, stayed twice in his mansion before. It's not too near the busy roads so not that noisy but still within the city. It's a nice base if you want to do Suquijor, Apo island, Casaroro, Valencia, Manjuyod and even Oslob Cebu.
Daun is special my first time in duma we snorkelled in dauin and the marine life was so alive, will be back there next year after a longbtime and looking forward to ut.
Yeah, Dumaguete is a nice place and very friendly people. Their pier is just at the end of the boulevard, and have very clean and clear water. The breakfast at the market is usually chikuate (tablea-cocoa) and budbud, kinda suman if I'm right. I used to go there when I was in college. We went also to Valencia, where natural pool with running water passes in it, and it's very very cold water. Many foreigners live in Dumaguete, usually their houses are near the airport. Missed the place.
And if you go there on a motorcycle, don't wear your helmets, coz they can easily see you not from that place, and somewhat mistaken you of hiding your identity.
Ha ha wasn't expecting to see "Mindanao Martin", Legend! met him in India twenty years ago and we met up at Harold's in 2014.
Great person to teach you diving and have a few... beers after.
Great to see you in Dumaguete, Valencia and Dauin. There was something moving about seeing you in the water. I'm glad you're trying something new. You're like a baby learning to walk, or in this case I guess mermaid learning to swim/ breathe underwater. Wish you could've stayed longer but onto the next!

WOW Indeed. I've been to Dumaguete when i was only gamay pa kaayu my mother went there to promote Hajji Alejandro in 1979. President Marcos was finishing building the Geothermal plants in the Visayan and Mindanao regions.

Another great video, KD! I’m so glad to learn about the geothermal vents in Dumaguete - reminds me of Iceland and Yellowstone National Park. I can imagine what it smells like along that road. They must have hot springs in that area?

Yes, at the back of Valencia there are 2 hot springs. I just don’t know if that’s the only hot springs near that area….

The 2 times I've been to Casaroro there were no guides dont think there is one, its pretty easy to follow once you get off the road, you'd have to have a hike down but its pretty easy as its paved its the coming back up thats hard. You won't get lost unless you veered off the obvious paved path. First time we went that road you showed was very rough and rocky we had to ride a habal habal to get to the entrance.

There are many reasons people are not traveling. For me it has been because Philippines has been requiring shots and masks. Now that is starting to change. Maybe next year when I get more vacation.
