if you’re in the market for advice still the event around 21:40 was probably a transform over the relic. skills get automatically upgraded with toxic egg, powers have mummy hand, and any attacks are better than two strikes. also your damage comes from orbs not attacks
slowing down will honestly be the biggest game changer for you. just avoiding a bunch of small unnecessary damage throughout a run really starts to add up

Hi Ryan, on the off-chance you read this - you are correct, you cannot get Self-Repair from Creative AI unfortunately. It was patched out a long time ago to prevent infinite-heal stalling.
I feel like this Slay the Spire growing as a person arc is creating a kind of calmness in me unlike anything he's ever done This is a kind of Dads-only wisdom
Not saying it's always good, but: The sacred bark effectively makes the regen potion heal 4x more. 5 regen = 15 healing 10 regen = 55 healing (if you can stall for 10 turns) And you don't actually need to wait the whole 10 turns, after just 5 it gives you 40 healing, which is also very strong.
If you don't have any of the potion relics then sacred bark is pretty dog. I mean it's good but not when you consider the opportunity cost of giving up extra energy, removeds, transforms, rtc
Sacred Bark may only be really strong with White Beast Statue, but playing at A10 and lower its not like a death sentence, and I personally think it's just a fun relic

Listen NL if you see this: think of what removing a card is doing. When you would have drawn the card you remove, you instead draw a different card. If that card is better than the the card you would removed would have been, its like you upgraded it into a completely new card. There are definitely cards in your deck where the difference between it and your worst card is bigger than the difference between it and its own upgrade. Thus, remove is like better upgrade. Not to mention, having lean deck has additional benefits like consistency and the possibility of drawing your whole deck, which opens infinites like Flash of Steel + any 0 cost draw (like another flash of steel or upgraded Deep Breath).
Love the StS resurgence! My 2 cents: Dont take the curse for gold in A1, it slows down your engine later and sets you behind because you have to remove the curse(s) instead of a strike or defend (that's partially why so many were drawn instead of BIG powers/cards). For Donu Deca, I always focus Donu first because the power scaling is infinitley harder for me to deal with if the fight goes longer. I love tranform options because literally anything is better than strikes and defends too! (Habits for A20 that took me years to learn).
So great to watch you play StS again. Late game, NL you might want to take cold snap+ with 5 energy and echo, to draw 4 for 1 mana and two Frost orbs. You had the chance to take 3 in Act 3.
For some backseating advice, at 12:24 if you played the strike and cold snap first before the power card, Glacier gets guaranteed to hit by mummified hand.
And that my friends is why mummified hand is one of the best relics and generally frowned upon by the sweaty nerds in the middle of the bell curve meme
NL: i think we take fusion hammer cuz we don't need to upgrade anything NL, 2 minutes later: we gotta play echo form whenever we draw it or it disappears
Deck cycle was a definite issue with the Madness pick up. No coincidence that the deck started performing worse immediately after that event. Madness generally wants a few conditions to be a good pick up. A couple expensive cards that are not powers or do not exhaust: It could have worked with the glaciers and rainbow, but all the powers caused a lot of clogged hands. A fast deck: All the power set up meant that the deck was fairly slow to get started, and the Madness just added to the lethargy. A deck that is spun up with lots of control (draw, discard, retain) can sometimes afford to add 2 cards with little to no immediate value. In general you want to shuffle a lot or have a lot of hand control, which you had some of with Compile and Hologram, but it wasn't quite enough to offset. An energy needy deck: between 2 energy relics and mummified hand, it's hard to say that this deck really needed the cost reduction. Overall, if you had skipped out on the chests (which gave you Singing Bowl and Toy - decent but it's hard to say that had much overall value) and focused on trimming strikes it would have sped up the deck, reduced the 1 cost density, and made Madness a lot easier to use.
Great video lots of learning done In the future I think you should consider apparition more carefully especially when you have toxic egg In my opinion it's also more fun to try and make apparition work lol
the resting theorycrafting is pretty wild, an upgrade at the right time on the right card can save alot of health in the future, but also there could be no future if you dont rest..

About that Peace Pipe, I would not take it in that particular circumstance because buying it made you too poor to remove it at that shop + the shop after and then some. In reality taking that peace pipe means you prefer removing at the next 2 fires to removing on the spot and upgrading at the next 2 fires (plus the surplus money). For a more general heuristic of when to use peace pipe, id use it quite aggressively because Strike quickly becomes such a terrible card for defect in particular.
Oh also I'd slam Astrolabe, the 5th energy is worth very little cause of Mummified Hand, and Strike is just so bad, Astrolabe is almost like 3x remove. Astrolabe is one of my favorites.
unsure if you know, but if you use recursion on a dark orb it actually keeps it’s damage value. something i just recently learned myself so i figured i’d throw it out there

With cursed key I think it is usually best to just skip chests because the average curse is worse for you then the average relic is good for you.
