One of the features of ACZ is the choice of alignment, of which there are three: Knight, Soldier and Mercenary. This choice is made by destroying objects marked in yellow on the interface during missions. Destroying these targets inclines the alignment towards the Mercenary, mercy gives Knight points. Soldier is the middle value between these two.
In short, the Mercenary is considered the most brutal and indifferent. The Soldier is perceived as obedient and pragmatic, and the Knight as noble and merciful. Moreover, alignment affects possible cutscenes and some fights (Merc's ones are the hardest).
