It’s certainly not cheap when living in Paddington / Bondi / heart of city. But if you can it’s worth it!

Water is only charged to a renter if they are renting a whole house and the house is fitted with low flow taps. If they're not fitted with low flow taps then you have grounds to get the landlord to pay for the water or they can change all the taps to low flow taps in the house.

I believe you are managing it well, 4500 seems fair in Sydney ! Thanks

Whilst Groceries maybe more expensive (Though are they? You maybe in for a shock on your return) I do think the quality is much better than the UK. What I found on our recent visit which didn’t make sense, maybe someone else can explain. Eating out in Australia was cheaper, like for like. The minimum wage is higher there (tips are usually a round up or max 10%) and groceries are maybe more expensive . Yet we ate at some good restaurants and they were far cheaper than London and Surrounding Suburbs.

Cheaper with pounds? It is a bit different when you live here and get paid in AUD.

Sydney you really need to prepare properly. There’s wild fluctuations depending on where you live. For locals a huge frustration is that many things were free in the 1990s now you have to pay separately. Example a wage of $300 a week take home in 1990 went further than $1100 a week today which is crazy 😮 to think about. ask locals that lived there 30-35 years ago and you’ll get astounding stories. All the best anyway

Love Paddington!! A bit more expensive than other neighbourhoods but would choose Paddington (or close by) if I could live in Sydney.

Water is only paid by landlord when it is part of a strata. If you’re in a house you pay water

Such a dream being able to split all living expenses with a partner. Do you both earn exactly the same each month? Otherwise if your split of costs isn’t relative to your individual incomes it isn’t necessarily a 50/50 split because the person earning less is having to give up more etc. Hope that makes sense! I just felt called to share this thought because I wish somebody had said it to me a few years ago. Thank you for your warm & informative content x

Wow I live in Perth and I can’t get over how much more expensive it is in Sydney! I pay $200 a week for 2 bedrooms and all bills included!
A random question - when you went to South East Asia did you take your laptop? We are worried about it but I know you guys have been travelling around working so not sure how best to do this?

I’m planning to get either a student or work visa must likely the work one because you can work more with that one I’m gonna be staying with at my father home so rent is not gonna be a problem my English still needs lots of work tho, you think I can save up enough on min wage? And also do u think having family as Aus citizens will help with my visa ?

ok that makes more sense. This is just your 'share'. There's no way you'd get a one bedroom in paddo for 1400 per month.

Stumbled across your channel by accident as a recommended from a Singapore video. Is there a reason you picked Sydney versus Melbourne?

Welcome! Yes, mostly I chose Sydney for the weather and the beaches. Melbourne is colder and doesn’t really have much beach life.

$100 AUD for a 40 min PT session sounds like a scam, sorry. There's physio led gyms in Sydney that offer 1:1 for much cheaper than what you're paying.
