May Allah (swt) reward his efforts. "Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance." 16:125
ya allah... always hamza yusuf has so much great information which is so well organised and includes details from everyone, i have learnt so much from him on my holiday from school. i ask allah to protect him, increase his knowledge and public appearence and give him long age so that he may continue to guide me and my young brothers in this world because we are missing so much of this information they never teach us this stuff or talk about it

For the designed obsolescence the pc was a bad example. companies still use software from decades ago, and hardware does not need to be changed that often, unless for gaming. Even then, the processor and motherboard can be replaced and you can continue using it without "chucking" your pc.
I learnt a lot from this talk, really interesting.. I don't know why people are walking away, they should feel privileged that they are in a conference where he is speaking. Where was the venue anyway?
We're allowed to disagree with scholars, and we're allowed to be inquisitive. How's it wrong for the laymen to argue/debate/question Islam, whereas it's okay for the Ulama/scholars? Allah [swt] provided each one of us with `aql in order for us to use it. Many a times the students know more than the scholars that are deviated by politics and conflicting interests. I know, it's sad, but it's indeed true.
