Know what looks goofier than wearing this? Having Parkinson's at age 40 because you thought wearing a PAPR looked goofy.
If it works who cares, beside it a 1000$ machine, it better work with that price
It doesn’t even look that goofy. Health is expensive when you get older and 1000 bucks is nothing…nothing compared to future medical expenses.
Tbh the first time I saw this thing I thought right away tat it looks badass 😅
@@joons3374 Right? Looks like Bane 😂
This setup looks insane! Hope to get to try it one day! Seems like a lightweight and killer option. Optrel seems to never dissappoint! 🙏💯
I can't wait to get one pf these! Currently jumping ship from 3m. I really like the idea of having protection when not welding.
I got this product and would highly recommend. The back pack does have an adjustment with the straps where they attach to the back pack on the lower straps. There is two sizes of straps that are attached to the back pack on both sides. Plus the Valero has partial adjustments. Thank you for your video. I watched it before I did the free 4 day trial from Optrel. After trying it I would not want to go back to my half mask respirator from another brand. Very comfortable and useful product.
Thank you for sharing! We agree you almost have to try it to really see the value!
Do you still recommend it now you have had it a year. Also could you say how long the filter lasts? I weld on pipelines in trenches all day and am wondering if the filter replacements will cost me a lot?
Love the Channel and that looks like a nice hood.
I have the Panoramaxx 2.5 with the PAPR system and love it, but I made a mistake on the purchase and I thought for some reason it had the Crystal Lens (CLT)….. I still want to get the CLT version too and the Swiss Air respirator!!!
This can make your life easier and healthier
Im looking to weld galv structural and i have a panoramaxx clt and this would be really great
I would definitely get this, probably next month.
Update I decided to get it today, but I noticed I can't find replacement filters on Amazon so can you tell me the name of the filters it use?
@@TheDragonfridayHow has it worked out for you?
The main filter is washable? How do you recommend washing it?
Love my optrel helmets. Had the Vega view 2.5 forever. Upgraded recently to the e864. Would love to win the Panoramaxx CLT to give it a try.
I bought the panoramaxx clt and it was amazing
What are those glasses you're wearing? They fit the Optrel so well.
Every welder should be provided one of these
My lincoln papr is bulky and you cant get into certain places 2 hour battery but this thing skeek looks light weight. I'd wear that daily even just welding out side or on a building
You can say it's expensive but you can't replace your lungs.
Sit on machine rest your life or proper protection
My papr cost $1500 was welding galvanized with 7 other guys in a small shop
Yes good point. I got this product and it is $1600 in Canada but worth it. Way better than the 3m half mask I was using and the battery last all day. 9 hour shifts I wear it entire time and it only shows 1/2 use of battery.
Yes we agree all welders need this !
Will this fit under the 3m g502?
Can it work with a 3350 Lincoln 4c vision welding hood with out obstruction internally am from Trinidad
I want to get one of these. Can you do an update video of your thought and options please.
We use it all the time! It is a lot more comfortable than a full on helmet PAPR
Does it work with fall protection harness? Looks like controller is right where front strap is and back unit is right where d ring is
Swiss Air or E3000 for Crystal 2.0 ?? Which is better ??
Would it be compatible with 3m fresh air belt ? I could probably connect the hose to the 3m belt
Do they have options for filters for fumes and chemical filters like welding on paint or grease
So now lay on your back in tight quarters at -20° outside . How's it work?
I am guessing Optrel recommends wearing the harness under your welding jacket or does it come with a protective spark/heat resistant cover for the control knob? I'd think judging by the sparks hitting it while you are welding that it would not last long outside a jacket during long welding processes.
They claim it is built to withstand the welding process and shouldn't be under any clothing because it will reduce airflow...
I just bought one of these, However the control panel doesn't work... Only works when the aux lead is firmly held down into the papr unit. Very annoying.
Great info video:) What's the recharching time on the battery?
It charges pretty quick I think an hour or so will get you close to a full charge. Also you could get a spare battery for it.
I have this it's great but my glasses fog up I have to pull them down or take them off
Hi does it help keep the face cool .would it help to keep the welding visor from fogging up if it warm .
Hello, it would keep you cooler by nature since its moving air. It is not cool air just clean air. I would suggest an anti fog shield. We have some really nice options if you are looking for a good anti fog/anti scratch shield.
Optrel Swiss air with Speedglas 9100 XXI vs Speedglas G5-01 ???
Used for silica dust?
When you breath in I see the mask compress, to me that means you are creating a vacuum and able to draw in outside air. Comments???
Is this actually NIOSH approved? Doesn’t look like the air flow is high enough for approval and the face piece is sucking in when you breath, which implies you are entraining room air.
Between this or the e3000 what would you recomend? I am currentlly using the 3000 but it has very little air pressure diffence Between high and medium. If this is a better unit i would much prefer to go this route.
I have it and low setting is useless, you need two batteries to keep it on high.
could you please see if it fits under the 3m g5-02? i would really appreciate it would hate to buy it and realize one either i have to replace a 1300$ helmet or return a 1600$ swiss air :/ thanks a ton!
I can confirm, it does. Just got mine today and it's amazing!
You did great tests on both PAPR e3000x and now Swiss Air. Which one would you suggest, when and why, now that you've tried both? I will take one system for my home hobby job. I'm leaning towards the Swiss air, cause it takes off the weight from the helmet, can use it under any other welding helmet if I choose to swich, and under any other clear mask that I already have, But I'm not sure how it fits under the welding mask especially Panoramaxx.
Thank you.
Hello, thanks for watching! The system we would suggest really depends on your application. In our opinion you really can not go wrong with the Swiss Air. Super versatile since you can wear under a helmet or shield (or alone) these days masks with filtration is an every day thing. I will have one of the guys on the team try the Swiss Air with the Pano and let you know how it fits! Email us and we can quote you both. support@bakersgas.com
@@BakersGas SUPER Great. thank you so much guys for trying it with the Panoramaxx. 👍
@@BakersGas did the filter cover tab break on you?
@@Andrew-FKF yes we did break it, it can be replaced though!
Could you tee the purified air into a Lincoln fresh air helmet headgear ? To supply air going over your head as well as having fresh breathing air ?
You could good idea. Ive had the Swiss Air for almost 2 months now.
Yes you can use this with any of the Lincoln Electric helmets. Let us know if you have any other questions.
looks like the mask is made of fabric like material ..is it safe filtration material to earosals .. is it liquid and gas resistant
Yes it is designed to be FR/and durable enough for industrial applications
How does it do against smells? I'm thinking of plumbing
Hello, you can get the OV filter which does also filter for odor in the Clearmaxx. I will link below for you:
bakersgas.com/products/optrel-4088103
bakersgas.com/products/optrel-4900251
The Swiss air does not have that but might be something they will come out with
For hot climates welding and grinding would you recommend this over a papr helmet and grindmaxx papr mask. Trying to decide between cost comfort and versatility. Shame is doesnt fit under panoramaxx.
I would highly recommend the product. It is very nice to have the fresh air in the face all day in a hot shop. Right now Optrel is offering a 4 day free trial at some of the retailers. Maybe this guys business has this offer.
@@kevtech733 which are you saying you have. I'm between the 2 options they offer. Full face or half mask
2F Welding the Optrel Swiss Air. The one in the video.
Yes this is a game changer for comfort plus you can pair with ANY helmet if you need to weld or grind. Any other questions let us know.
How much for it
How does the swiss air fit with the Panoramaxx CLT and wearing glasses, as the Panoramaxx is closer to your eyes and nose..
It does no fit well under the Pano but it does fit great under the regular Crystal 2.0 if you buy both we will get you a deal :)
@@BakersGas all good purchased a clt and all fits well for me.
😢😢😢😢😢Why didn't I get this information before? my boss bought me a miller respirator this is much more versatile
Anyone know if the filtration is good enough for vapors/fumes while painting using etch primer, water based paint, clear coats and hydro dip activator?
I don't know about this specific product but PAPR units generally only come with particulate protection. For VOC's, fumes and gasses you want specifically rated protection against Organic Vapor/Acid Gas.
@@WorthlessGeek yes I found an organic vapor filter for the e3000x unit
Yes, if you want to reach out we can give you information on a trial!
I like the flexibility of this unit. I would love to see if it could fit under a panoramax.
We are going to try it out and we will let you know! I think it will fit but will be close :)
It will not fit under the pano! They do make a Pano PAPR if you are going to be welding and if you really like that hood.
@@BakersGas awesome thanks so much
@@BakersGas Thanks for testing it. Can you please elaborate on this why you thik it will not fit ,cause I've seen the optrel selling Swiss air in ready to Weld packages with Pano. So they "think" it fits .. If using Swiss air in Pano would mean you need to go further away from the lens, resulting not having that "pano" view anymore, then I understand.
@@BakersGas But they sell a kit with the Swiss Air papr and Pano's. Not to be confused with the welding hoods that have the fresh air built-in.
Bud, how do you get to try these. If been welding SS and Aluminum tanks over last few years....got long haul covid that still has my lungs f'd up and the N-95's I wear just grinding or inside clean out have me pulling hard w/new filters. I can only do bout 10 minutes inside before I need AIR.... and that isn't cutting it. We have 3m papr's but unless for actual work and bulky in a 54"tank for my tall ass. Any info much appreciated.
Id like to know as well I’m with you on the tanks I weld and grind in aluminum fuel tanker and fuel trucks.
Hey! Sounds like you need a Swiss air! contact us for more info or options on a trial to show your boss :)
@@BakersGas How do you go about getting a test/trial demo?
Wish this is niosh approved but it isnt and isnt approved at my work 😢
Your telling me you don't smell nothing with that fabric mask?
Wish they were affordable
Can you make a video comparing the Cleanspace 2 VS Optrel Swiss air (without helmet).

I checked out that other product you brought up and it looks like it does not have a pre filter. So in dirty environments it would go through the filter very fast. I have the Swiss Air and it does have a pre filter so it savers the master filter and I have gotten almost a month out of my 1st master filter and still has some use left. I work as a pressure welder in a vessel shop.
@@jjgonzaga4229 I am not familiar with that option but the Swiss Air is our favorite quality option. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Why didn’t they have an adjustable strap ☠️
If I put this over my clothes, it's open to damage from flying sparks. Can I put this under clothes?
There is a spark protection filter before the other filters so there is no need to do that. Also, you'd restrict the airflow pretty badly by doing so...
Do whatever you want put it under your undies
How does it not need a fit-test?
Because it's not a tight fitting full seal respirator... PAPRs are positive pressure which pushes air out and only air coming in is thru the filter pack.
Whole reason I'm looking into one is to keep my beard (in regards to your other comment about coverage and his beard)
Have you tried using it with the optrel panoramaxx clt? I recently purchased the panoramaxx clt and found that it won't fit flush with the miller half face respirator
It was designed to work with panoramaxx
How long do filters last? $50 each aint cheap
You can wash them, some people just like a spare.
I have gotten almost a month out of my 1st filter and I use the Swiss Air 5 days a week 10-8 hour shifts. It does have pre filters that I change daily but they come in packs of 50.
how long the filter last
Hello, the system does have a light that does indicate when you should change the filter. In general good idea to change annually. Really does depend on the environment you are in. Never can hurt to change more often.
I wear the Swiss Air 5 days a week 8- 10 hour shifts working in a vessel shop. Almost got a month so fare out of the current filter Im using.
Only dust filtration no welding vapor nor fumes what a shame for a welder protection!!
How does the old air escape?
My question exactly as well.
@@chrisp9046 hey man, I bought a newer optrel paper helmet with a face seal under it and it works amazing. I don’t smell any fumes at all.
All the new optrels have it very amazing 1000000% recommend the crystal papr
@@chrisp9046 if your gonna order the optrel papr crystal you’re gonna need an air pack as well
@@Gldoo Oh man, thanks for telling me man! I have a feeling that wouldn’t work with a beard then lol. So it doesn’t fog up your welding lens? Thanks again for letting me know!
It doesnt have gas filter so it sucks
Это дорогая система.
looks extremely uncomfortable.
I don't think you're getting much coveraged with that huge beard.
Positive pressure inside the mask is constantly pushing out, so things cant get in. The beard does not reduce the performance, it may even optimize the venting.
It to much
I can't wait to get one pf these! Currently jumping ship from 3m. I really like the idea of having protection when not welding.
