I appreciate how she acknowledges that not everyone can afford to go zero waste and what matters is to do what you can!
👏👏👏👏
me too
I was about to make this comment!
This was a huge reason why I didn't like Aria's zero waste content! The acknowledgement goes a long way to make this sound less preachy.
@snowy810 cause its annoying and cringy and doesnt get the point across as well as understanding. Its the same with anything, even when talking politics.
It's ok not to be Rie. I wrestle with this daily.
It's not "ok", but we all have to wrestle with this all our lifes ;)
some of yall bout to get real mad at me but it must be said. you are not rie. that is not okay do not be who you are
Emma LMFOAOOAOA
Tell people at Tasty to scrape the damn bowls. That'd stop some waste right there.
Iirc their kitchen has a compost bin, so at least there’s that?

The most effective method is not to procreate. The carbon footprint of raising a human is much more enormous than that of a lifelong vegan.
I work in a produce section at a grocery store and I can’t stress this enough ALWAYS WASH YOUR PRODUCE!
Lydia Thatcher they do it before
Doesn't that waste water?
Yeah there’s still flies and dirt in some of them still. Soaking your fruit turns the water more yellow/brownish.
Most produce is washed after harvest because water is the best conductor to remove heat quickly from products. The only produce that isn’t are foods that mold easily such as berries and cauliflower. From you local agriculture major.
Half of you have waayyy too much faith in your fellow shoppers. All the people that rub their dirty, unwashed hands on the produce not to mention the snot nosed kids that think those are toys.
This was so much awesomeness in one video. Awesome that you guys are being proactive and spreading the knowledge for less wasting of resources.
absolutely, we need to be more responsible with our waste and the planet.

I just clicked on the video because she had a nice face...
I loved this vide so much! I just uploaded a 'living plastic free for a week' challenge and I actually really loved it and learnt heaps. If you ever get the chance it would mean so much if u could check it out, I really hope I can inspire u with some tips or something new to try x

I love the way she talks about it. Very non-juging and encouraging perceptive!
This was soooooo educational to me. I really enjoyed watching this segment. I too don't like wasting food. I try my best to not throw anything out. Looking forward to seeing and listening to more editorials. Thank you.

Good to know Tasty is doing their part. As a kid that goes shopping every week, tote bags are my life. Believe it or not my whole family never uses plastic bags or containers for the last 2 years. We would shop at the bulk areas using reusable containers, buy at farm markets (not supermarkets), plant our own vegetables (we plant at our backyard cuz in front of our house, we have our giant rectangle pool), use reusable straws and more! Let's go green!

@@sherrrlene She said it. I was just countering her own internal-external narrative with a positive affirmation. She's *plenty* special!
Thank you for making a video that tackles so many issues in one go! I'll definitely be sharing it. Also, thanks for acknowledging that zero waste often comes with a price tag. I hope that sustainability will become the norm for everyone, regardless of their financial background.
She's gorgeous!!
I've been composting veggie scraps for months... never thought of doing veggie broth with them first! Thanks for the idea!
Veggie scraps, bones, fat/skin, etc.
Get good at improvising what to add to balance the flavor of soup and you can get some use out of almost any ingredients that go through your kitchen.
Thank you for this video. Like seriously thank you so much for so many reasons.
Thank u for doing this! I am really into zero waste but I never really got into it. Although this inspired me to create a kit for going out, with tupperware, a mesh produce bag, a bulk bin bag, silverware, small mason jar, a cloth thingy, and a reusable water bottle. Surprisingly that all fits pretty well in a regular bag. I really hope in the next few years zero waste and things like that become more popular.
I absolutely loved this video! Kudos to a channel as big as yours to be talking about this, and with compassion, too. ❤️

This is really awesome. She presents the information in a wonderful way. I love that she recognizes that not everyone can go completely waste free, but still encourages to do what you can. I am vegan, but I will admit that I may use too much plastic and waste the end bits of my veggies. This video has educated me further to think about the waste I contribute.
I'm so happy to see zero waste videos in this channel !!
Almost every day i try my best to avoid plastic and waste when i'm cooking but it's so hard! Especially at work. But seing this make me think it's possible to have a positiv impact.

This is a very good video. Loved the transitions. Well done!
OK. THIS IS GOOD. WANT TO KNOW WHY! You are literally the first person on this subjct I've seen. Who said "just do your best"
I wanted to learn some stuff, just to d what I can. but dear god. WHenever I try to look up any info, or any info on stuff. It.... well lets say. There are a lot of high and mighty asshats.
So. This video? Such a good job purely on not talking down to us. Not treating people who just want to try something. Just something. like crap (insert compost joke)
Seriously. Rie is indeed my favorite.
But now, you're a host I like.

Zero waste 😳 wow.
Now this should become a trending challenge!
I've got a worm bin in my kitchen. It doesn't stink and they eat a ton of scraps that end up in my garden as compost.
Did tou make it yourself?

I wouldn't be able to enter my kitchen if there was a bin with worms there. 🤮🤒😷
I appreciate this video so much! Thank you!! 🙏
I love this so much I’ve gone to culinary school so I know a few ways to save on food waste but this is a great educational video on helping people cut back on their footprint
I appreciate this video. You're doing an awesome job and I commend you for it. That being said, 80% of carbon emissions are being produced by a small handful of companies. The best way to save the environment is to rally against them and at least attempt to get money OUT of politics. Public servants were never intended to be millionaires yet the vast majority are.
It's not cool that both sides accept billions each year in "lobbying" dollars from the exact same corporations because that means they don't work for the general public anymore. If we solve this one single issue it will give power back to the people and allow us to save the environment, our crumbling infrastructure, healthcare, and the majority of the rest of the problems we are facing.
Is this to make up for the apple pie video example?
Emily Luceus

Best Tasty video ever! This could have been 3 or 4 videos. So much info.
I never comment on any social media post, but I really appreciate this video about food waste and the connection to the environment and society because this is so, soooo important. We as a society can make change!!
Most of the stuff that u labeled as “scraps” I actually use in my cooking. Thanks to my wonderful Haitian mom who has a pet peeve for wasting

Fantastically informative video!! More videos like this please!! Also I live in Egypt where as you mentioned it is quite difficult to live anything close to zero waste, but there is a growing community of zero wasters who are trying to find alternatives within Egypt. Could you please make another video about composting, perhaps more detailed, different ways of doing it ? We have no compost bins here!

I'll try, but I cant promise you anything. I have 2 kids a full time job and part time school.

Well there are no jobs on a burning planet. If you gonna take your kids to school remember that in 12 years the effects of what we have done to world could be deadly. Around 200 million people could be displaced.

The veggie stock from veggie scraps is so solid! It's seriously easy. All you need is a bag in your freezer.
I love your recipe book. It seems well organized, and I encourage you to save it and pass it along to the next generation.
I can't imagine NOT composting. We've been doing it since I can remember (me and my family). Please do compost. It's not that hard.

*Zero **-deaths-** waste*
yasss keep these videos coming!
You should especially wash organic vegetables because they're often fertilized with manure. I don't save vegetables for vegetable stock but I do save bones in the freezer to make bone broth. My veggie waste goes in the compost bin to become fertilizer for more veggies.
Chinese take out is zero waste
The way she is speaking makes this sound like an ad.
Such a great video with reasonable expectations. ❤️
Yas! I make my own veggie broth too and constantly encourage friends on my IG stories while I'm cooking to do it too!
Ok but, in your videos sometimes you throw edible food out the dish in the trash can...
that's why we have this video to spread change
I think I’ll make sure I have extra waste from now on when I make food. Thanks for the inspiration
I make stock once a week in my instant pot. It's the best and so easy!! Also - I got a book for xmas called "cooking with scraps" and it has a ton of great ideas for less waste.
I really like that you acknowledge that not everyone can go zero waste, not only is it more expensive but it's also a lot of work and not everyone can do that, either because they don't have the time or bc they're disabled. I love zero waste videos and environmentalism but there is a big tendency to leave disabled people out of this conversation. A lot of us need plastic straws or utensils. Maybe we can't lift drinks without spilling them, maybe we can't wash the dishes because the sound and feel makes us throw up. And zero waste is a lot of work and effort and energy that some ppl don't have. So yeah, I'm glad it was acknowledged tho :D
1:21 That's okay love , we can't all be Ries , we need some non-Ries to appreciate the Ries of the world .
You remind me of Theresa Farrell
Stop peeling your root veg. Just wash them. The nutrient is just under the peel. Less composting too.
I hate wasting food! I am always teaching my clients how to overlay ingredients. I will be sending them over to this video. Thank you!
watching tasty videos is a huge reason why I started composting and reducing my plastic waste so thank you ☺️

Just compost you darn city folk lol
A lot of time people / neighbors will complain about compost which sucks :((
I think most people do small amounts of compost but you can't really use it so most people don't
You "country folk" try to compost in a small apartment. Where you already have to make space for separate trash and recycling. Take up extremely valuable space in a tiny home with a pile of smelly rotting vegetable remains. Then you can talk.
Ellen Gregory ....excuses are like buttholes, everyone has them and they all stink.
Dumbass country person. What would you know about preserving life, Excaclty, you know nothing because your iq is 3 and below. I would feel bad for you but everyone else already does.
Not sure if if this city folk/country folk thing is a joke, but as a serious response: many cities or apartments don't offer compost services
I love Rie, but seriously Merle, you rock in this video! Thank you
