Fast-moving Northern California wildfire forces evacuations

- The Thompson Fire broke out Tuesday near the Northern California city of Oroville amid extreme heat and has forced thousands of people to flee their homes. The blaze is burning out of control in the same county as the town of Paradise, the site of the 2018 Camp Fire, the deadliest wildfire recorded in California history. Elise Preston reports.

They haven't bankrupted the utilities. Jerry Brown signed legislation on his way out specifically allowing the utility companies to back-charge rates payers to help with the Thomas, Tubbs, Axis, Camp and Woolsey fires.

They do have copters, 727 planes and fire fighters. Wind direction changes, humidity, brush and trees make a difference. Forgot to mention embers floating to new area or behind firefighters. Firefighters doing their job.

My son talked me out of buying a home in central Paradise, 18 months before the Camp fire. At that same time I had also been looking seriously at property in the Oroville area that has already burned in this fire. If not for God's undeserved grace and mercy...
Good grief, stop spreading bs. Oroville hasnt burned up, much of the fire is wooded areas outside of town and on the river canal up to the dam with a handful of homes lost...

Let this be a reminder; President T had an idea to hire more forestry employees hoping less dead trees and limbs would keep the fires down....but that didn't get to happen....I was going to apply for that job😢

In the same way a fire can skip through a neighborhood and burn some houses, but not all of them a a fire will burn some trees, but not all. I observed several trees that had burned in this short video. Some were nothing more than blackened trees with all of the leaves burned off!!

When they try to blame it on high temps, realize that the ignition temperature of wood is around 572-752°F (300-400°C) depending on the type of wood and how decayed it is. This is the lowest temperature at which wood will self-sustain combustion without an external ignition source. California would have to have high temps of 572 F for the heat to be responsible.
