Actually, Jay was indeed a guest on this date, January 9, 1986. Other guests on this show were Rachel McLish and Irving Caesar. Trust me, my database is far more accurate than whatever source on which you’re basing your information. But you’re right about the year before: Jay was indeed a guest on that date as well.
