I do photography in NY and have a hard time explaining posing to clients! This is perfect and you explain everything nicely! I would love to see a BTS of different sessions!
In my aunt’s engagement pics the photographer had her groom (who’s easily double her weight in just pure muscle and way taller than her) pretend to get on her back instead of her on his, and they still have that photo framed 11 years later. Their laughing faces emit pure joy and playfulness.

It went perfect!!!! The photos came out so beautiful!!! I’ve been so critical of myself because I’m a newbie and I know my work isn’t yet the best but man! I couldn’t believe I actually took these photos! I used your tips and at the end of the shoot the couple told me “you did so good directing us. We wouldn’t have known how to pose or do it without you telling us what to do.” THANK YOU SO MUCH again for the tips. This video really helped me so much. I’m photographing their wedding as well in November and I feel a lot more comfortable after this weekend. Wish me luck! 😩

Oooh I love this! You need to make more videos! I would love one for how to get kids to relax..or maternity! Because a lot of these fun couple shots don’t work for pregnant ladies, but I get so bored with the classic maternity shots!

This is great! How would you suggest broaching the prompts with your clients, when they’re expecting a more posed picture?
Kayla Wade Such a good question! I actually am going to show you EXACTLY what I emailed to a mom inquiring about pictures and I could just tell she was old school, “posed” picture mom. That’s what I feel she was expecting. So this is what I said, “I am a very energetic person! I love to get mom and dad laughing, snuggling and taking engagement pictures all over again! It's a fun time when everyone lets loose and just has some fun! I always take standard portraits with everyone posed looking at the camera, but my heart lies in candid, fun or silly moments that capture everyone's personalities. So we will run around, laugh with each other and have a good time! This should be a great and fun experience and take away the stigmas behind family pictures that can make dads and moms just want to get this day over. It's an experience, in all honesty - and a fun one at that!”

Karyn Marquis shutter is NEVER below 250 for me (my mark iii has a harder time below that) and my fstop is anywhere from wide open at 1.2/1.4-2.2 I love bokeh!!

James Mason hi James!! Totally all natural light! The only time I pull out a flash is during wedding receptions when I gets too dark and if I’m doing some late-night dark shoot with a couple! I love natural light

When you’re moving so fast with your feet, do you use manual or auto focus on the lens? Thanks for this video!!
Totally auto! The only time I switch into manual focus is if the sun is shining in my lens and I can't catch focus! Or for video!
